HTTP and FTP capping being done all along for quite sometimes. Especially during the peak hours (when is peak hours lol).
You cannot sue them for capping, as long they give you access, even at 1kbit, you can't sue them.

Once they capped on port 80, nothing much you can do to bypass that, a rules such as, if source port 80, throttle it to snail speed, then what ever solution you have will probably won't work anymore. Guess more homework to the TM guys. Their switches for Streamyx is in brickfields DC where everything goes thru there before streamyx users can go international and CBJ2 controlling all TM gateway to international links. So hackers, try scans CISCO NX-OS or IOS in those 2 datacenters and see what you can do.
*
for eastcoast we are routed to teruntum. then access the international link from pahang endpoint or genting endpoint.

Hahahaha, question will be, are you willing to pay RM618 for corporate lines so you get full speed? I bet his p2p is still crawling.
Marketing talks will be to get a normal streamyx+VPN and get full speed in everything at a cheaper price.
*
for sure i am not willing to pay Rm 618 also. later they throttle the corporate line then i .... but as for p2p, i really have no comment about it. seems like no throttling for me if i download some us tv series or uk tv series. same goes for hk series. but for budget wise, i rather pay RM30 monthly for VPN than subscribing RM 600++ streamyx without guaranteed speed. haha.

I think now with forum.lowyat.net changed to https, don't you guys feel smoother than last time? with https (SSL) the layer7 packet shaper won't able to analyst it but with http, they will know what file type u are getting, unless TM decides to sekali shape the port 443 as well.

i don't know where TM deployed their packets shapers, but for sure from TM 's data centers to AIMS data center also affected, do you guys have servers there for testing?
*
lyn is hosted locally. what do you mean by feel smoother? tm guarantee local traffic what.

maxis 3G is fast BUT p2p is totally block unless you have vpn biggrin.gif
I know a trick how to get unlimited, I've being using it the last couple of years.

Now come to think of it, Maxis staff maybe PMing for that trick.
Err, they shape torrent, so whatever format in the torrent file does not matter. It can be a text files, it will still be throttled.
*
i know the trick also. but mines is i make the data quote does not increase.

buy vpn is the only solution for now.

QUOTE(cannavaro @ Aug 4 2010, 09:46 PM)
Speaking of complaining...
The TM guys (not the contractors) who installed my Unifi told me about this certain gwai lo in Penang who's not satisfied with his 1mb connection speed.
Boy the gwai lo sure knows how to complain...  He wrote letters, daily phone calls, even went to their office. At the end of the day TM capped his connection to 4mb. Yet he was still complaining despite still paying for a 1mb package...  sweat.gif

Of course there is no way for me to verify this story, but perhaps if you guys make a collective effort in complaining something good would happen.  tongue.gif
*
guai lou have high expectation for a service. just see what they did to comcast for throttling bt by messing up the packets..

QUOTE(kokweng1 @ Aug 4 2010, 09:56 PM)

QUOTE(barry80 @ Aug 4 2010, 11:58 PM)
i suspect TM now can block certain trackers from china; hk; taiwan etc.

i used to connect to china's trackers with blazing fast speed but now even with vpn also can't get back the previous speed.

those with US; UK trackers is not affected yet...don't know why my current vpn can't get a decent speed from china's trackers.... rclxub.gif
*
maybe? for hk content there are something wrong with p2p. lazy to check.

QUOTE(rizvanrp @ Aug 5 2010, 05:02 AM)
Or I could keep it private with specially compiled builds for friends and never have to think about updating it again biggrin.gif I don't need the bypass anyway, I mainly did it to help some LYN users and to give TM a giant f*** you to the face (because I can biggrin.gif).

---

Anyway, this kind of HTTP throttling is pretty bad and based on the method they're using it's pretty much an invasion of privacy. Up till now, TM has only implemented website blocks based on DNS blackholes which can be bypassed easily by switching your DNS server. HTTP request filtering on the other hand will be much more difficult to bypass. We're heading down the path of countries with filtered/monitored Internet access. They say that it's being done to 'conserve' bandwidth but lets be honest here.. P2P uses less resources than streaming or direct HTTP downloads. Bandwidth usage is distributed (albeit not equally) among international networks instead of just saturating the links to a single country.

I fear that instead of being used to simply control bandwidth consumption (which basically what all the TM supporters here are saying), this technology can also easily be utilized to spy on subscribers or for abused political reasons (GLC blocking dissenting voices?). You won't b**** about it now because you have your 'VPNs', but I assure you that very few companies use OpenVPN as opposed to Cisco/PPTP/IPsec based solutions. It's pretty obvious that the OpenVPN protocol is only used by private home users to bypass traffic restrictions.. and I assure you (once again!), they have the technology to cap the protocol at any given time.

I have always assumed that TM would never throttle HTTP traffic as it's one of the most widely used protocols on the Internet. Now that they are doing it, most of you don't care because you still have your 'uber sekrit' bypass methods but when they eventually put an air tight lid on all your traffic and means to bypass it.. it'll be too late for you to make any noise. I'm a Unifi user myself and I'm not affected by this at the moment but I know that any policy which TM implements on any of their home packages will eventually catch up with me.

I've already started to work on the technology to properly obfuscate OpenVPN traffic but in all honesty, why the heck is this even required? No one has had to do this before because there's no sh*ttier ISP in the world than TM.

Make more noise sheeple mad.gif
*
well my area is not throttled on openvpn yet. i cant test also. the thing is with all this experiment and so on, i cant really know if they are throttling or the connection is just slow. 1 thing is for sure, ppstream are being throttled.

nope. we gonna just keep it to ourselves first. wait until TM gone serious then we gonna think about it.
