Hi ASUSmy,

do i have to flash custom firmware to my asus rt-n56u to use it with unifi? when i flash n setup the device, do i have to connect the device to the modem?
*
Hi anwarmatlani,

You no need to flash custom firmware to RT-N56U, all you need it just update firmware to the latest and you will be able to select the Unifi as your ISP when doing the setup.

You can connect or not connect to the modem when doing the setup. If you are not connected when doing the setup, it is advisable that you do it manually instate of using the quick setup.

Thank you

I bot an Asus RT-N15U few weeks ago. I realize there is a 30 sec to 1 min delay (there is a satellite with a cross) when I change channel watching from my IPTV. That only happens on my asus router, but when I change back to my Unifi given router there is no delay. My firmware is Version 2.1.1.1.78. Please help. A little frustrated when I change channels! Any input from members are highly appreciated.

Hi bananaz,

You can try update the firmware to the latest, which is 3.0.0.4.360.

Here is the link to download it.

http://www.asus.com/my/Networking/RTN56U/#support_Download

Please do a factory reset before and after you updated the latest firmware.

Thank you

There is an error pop up while uploading the firmware given.

After restoring the router and uploading the firmware RT-N56U_3.0.0.4_360.trx

"Firmware upgrade fail. It may result from incorrect image or error transmission. Please check the version of firmware and try again."

RT56-U firmware can upload to RT15-U router?

Hi,

If anyone has bought the ASUS RT-N14U, the standard firmware 322 is not working. Likely you will see the timeout or "Timeout waiting for PADO packets" in system log.

You need to upgrade using this the link https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/s/C...864B413BD42AF0Y

It works for me after upgraded to 366.

Cheers,
Jon

Just got the RT-N66U model today. I am not sure why but setting up Unifi wasn't smooth. I couldn't get it to work during the turning the modem off/on procedure, and only when I tried the setup many times it finally worked.

Also, maybe I am asking too much, but the WIFI signal has only gained one bar (2 bars to 3)and gained 20% (45% to 65%) on my PS3 compared to the stock Unifi router. Can I do anything extra to further improve the signal?

Hi archinkent,

Have you try update the firmware to the latest?

Here is the link to the firmware.

And the 1 bar that you mention is for RT-N66U or the UNIFI modem?

Thank you

Hi fixgd,

You can try on RT-N16 which is better coverage and has USB ports. The SRP price is RM339

Thank you
