Yesterday try to do wireless flash but fail, after checking detected internal flash was fail also.
Maybe sensor or bulb.
do send it in since its under warranty, they wont charge you a single cent

for pop-up flash the maximum sync is 1/160s (a700 im not sure, a850 and a900 no pup up).
for external flashes , the normal flash sync (in bounce mode) is 1/160 . for a700 and above is 1/250s (1/200s if SSS is on).
for High Speed Sync (HSS / non bounce mode), the flash can sync up to 1/4000s (not sure for a850/a900 can sync up to 1/8000s or not)
do take not that 3rd party flash some of them dont have HSS (iinm was sunpak or cybertik).
A700 can go 1/8000s
