I hope "within Klang Valley" includes Damansara.

Johor before Damansara = fail. Higher population density here.

I'l dump Umobile very soon.

Their service in Pasir Putih, Ipoh has deteriorated to crap recently and they are not showing any interest to expand their 42mbps HSPA+ service to Ipoh nor do they show any interest in making things right.

From 3mbps last time, it dropped to 2 then 1 now on average I'm only getting like 0.5mbps.Who knows how much slower it'll become.
My usage volume is only less than 1.5Gb last month on U68.

It's the same plan.

Say customer pays RM68 + RM100 = RM168 at first

First month, RM20 rebate + RM20(from RM68) = RM40 , so no need to pay for this month
Second month, RM20 rebate + RM20 (from RM68)= RM40 , so no need to pay for this month
Third month, RM20 rebate + RM20 (from RM68)= RM40 , so no need to pay for this month
Fourth month, RM20 rebate + RM8 (from RM68)= RM28 , so need to pay RM12 for this month
Fifth month, RM20 rebate = RM20 , so need to pay RM20 for this month

Their calculation includes the initial advance payment RM68 and this is the same payment that has to be made in the "newer" plan.

Pardon me if i am slow in thinking.........

based on the promo ending on 31/10 , the UB40 states tat there is no monthly pymt till the 5th mth whereas the "new" promo tats suppose to end on 31/10 there will be a rebate of rm20/mth from the monthly pymt of rm40, meaning u still hav to pay rm20 from the first mth of the package

pls elaborate

thanks

it's not a pre-booking anyway, so once the modem is available commercially, you will get notified first biggrin.gif

FAQ #7: http://www.u.com.my/faqs/42mbps-mobile-broadband-service

QUOTE
The 42Mbps USB modem can be purchased at U Mobile Flagship Store in Berjaya Times Square and U Service Center in Sunway Pyramid.

The 42Mbps modems are expected to be available next year.

get the prepaid starter pack + subscribe UB68 plan (unlimited quota without extra charges).

if UB68 plan is too high, get UB10 to UB40, with quota but you will be notifiied via SMS once you reach 30MB (1st warning) and 0MB (end-of-quota warning) threshold.

originally, the press release mentioned Huawei or ZTE models. now, it seems to be removed (the model).

PAYU rate of RM0.01/KB.

if somehow you really overused 300MB without knowing, the max. chargeable is RM176.

i guess you are safe to use on the phone as you will defnitely get the SMS alert.

most ppl use it on 3G modem dongle + normal windows dialer: they will sure missed the SMS notification.

it would be safe to use the dashboard software while connecting: you get to know the data usage + SMS alert.

if you get the prepaid starter pack, subscription/purchase is prepaid-mode too.

meaning, you must have enough credit before subscribing the UB40 plan (i.e. RM40 credit at least).

new starter pack is RM8 but comes with RM5 airtime credit.

so, topup to about RM40 to just enough subscribe UB40 plan.

also, current prepaid has 3 Times Validity Period: if you topup RM30, you get 3x30 days = 90 days validity (~3 mths).

maximum validity is 300 days (i.e. topup RM100 = 3x100 days).

only if you get data-only SIM.

i posted this previously:

QUOTE
http://www.u.com.my/broadband/plans

(handphone image)

prepaid = prepaid voice plan + ubroadband tag-on <-- prepaid credit must be enough to subscribe each plan
postpaid = postpaid voice plan + ubroadband tag-on <-- each plan's price will be calculated together with voice during bill cycle (voice + data)

laptop (image) = ubroadband data-only (no voice call functionality) <-- similar to postpaid but without voice. u will get the monthly bills for data-usage

prepaid/postpaid + ubroadband can be used on 3G modem too, but i think it's more targeted for mobile devices usage (phone).

laptop data-only sim is more of full-time broadband using 3G modem (for those who dont need voice plans).

Something is happening to Umobile's Ipoh network.

I've been getting like 0.4-0.6mbps speed for a week already when I used to get 2mbps+ speeds a month ago. This even happened during 4am in the morning.I supposed not many stay up that late but this is due more to Umobile allocating less bandwidth now to Ipoh area with theier 42mbps trials in KL.
