Hi all, I'm really interested to upgrade my streamyx to UNIPACK. Currently, I'm using STREAMYX BASIC 1 Mbps (Home prepaid)... The monthly subscription for my streamyx was RM106.00 (expensive, isn't it?) Actually, it just RM88 per month, but since i'm using TM Home Prepaid line, RM18 extra charge will be imposed to me....

So, my questions now, can TM Home Prepaid user subscribe to UNIPACK? And what I need to do? Terminate the existing streamyx account, and create new streamyx account under UNIPACK package? Or terminate both Home Prepaid and existing Streamyx account....? Contract for streamyx account already ended 2 years ago.....

And what i'm concern now, both streamyx and phone line are under my father name... but my father have give a "green light" for me to upgrade the streamyx account to UNIPACK (since it is lot cheaper than what we're paying now)... I'm not so interested on free netbook (since I already have one lappy, I bring my lappy to my campus, and 2 dekstop PC at my home, my father also have his own personal lappy), I only interested to 2mbps package which priced for just RM83 per month! biggrin.gif And I have asked TMPOINT, if i'm not mistaken, last year, my area can install 2mbps line.... Do they will convert the Home prepaid to normal line?

And i'm was IPTA student, taking diploma... I'm on Semester 3....

Hopefully sifu2 here can answer my questions..... notworthy.gif

Nope
Who said so ? ...

I've been using STREAMYX BASIC 1 Mbps Rm88 for past 4 yr
Abt a month ago , just change to BB deal plan
On 31st July , i send application for UniPack package on the same old homeline number
My previous Basic 1mb package got terminated on the 1st Aug
On 4th Aug , the streamyx installer gimme a call for installation of New Unipack package w a free Dlink modem
back online on same day installation ..

Conclusion for this Unipack ,
- no cooling period (1 month)
- no need extra charge (for setup newer wiring for newer homeline number) , just use same old homeline no.
- no penalty chargers for breaking any contract
*
Hmm... if what u said will happen to me, that's good! Hopefully! rclxms.gif

My father will to go to Tmpoint this Monday to terminate Streamyx first....

But how about those who are using TM Home prepaid... My house have been using TM Home prepaid for the past 6 years..... icon_question.gif

Or they will automatically convert my Home prepaid line to normal line? Need to pay RM75 deposit also?? Since my father said, when he sign-up for Home prepaid 6 years ago, he didn't paid any deposit at all.... he just paid RM150 for home prepaid starter pack....

Just got back from TMPOINT.. what make me so curious is the guy at TMPOINT didn't give me anything as a "prove" that I have registered the new Streamyx UNIPACK. He only said that their contractor will come to my house within 5-14 days... And suprisingly, my old Streamyx account already terminated..... No cooling period also... even though I just terminated it for less than hour ago... sweat.gif I'm online through Maxis broadband now....

Gosh! I'm really worry about this now..... because when I called 100, the person there said different, she said that if I terminate the account now, I will be imposed RM350 penalty charges.., It was because my father has upgraded to 1mbps basic streamyx 3 months ago... (new contract if i;m not mistaken) but the guy at TMPOINT said, I can terminate my account without any penalty fees.... And the guy at TMPOINT also didn't give me any receipt or slip for UNIPACK registration and termination of streamyx account as a prove....

Which person should I believe now, CSR at 100, or the guy at TMPOINT??????? I'm afraid of penalty charges now....

Oh, btw I'm applied Streamyx UNIPACK and terminate my streamyx at TMPOINT PARIT BUNTAR, Perak....

it will changed to completed after the installer come to yr house... why dont u opt for 4mbps since its Rm5 diff  laugh.gif  laugh.gif
Actually, according to the guy at TMPOINT, he said that my area can't support 4mbps streamyx. I can install 4mbps, but better he said better take "save" route... he afraid that line will be not stable for 4mbps.... Only 2mbps are maximum speed that it can achieve.

Oh, before I forgot, He also mentioned that my area are using fibre line... But, if i not mistaken, fibre line are for UNIFI (FTTH) isn't it?? From my limited knwoledge, Streamyx only use copper line..... Or maybe Fibre is new technology for Streamyx...??

And can I collect myself the wireless modem at TMPOINT?

All this while, streamyx been using copper which support up to 1mb. 2mb And 4mb use fiber optic line.

The streamyx installer will bring the modem during the installation process

QUOTE(FiF2 @ Aug 13 2010, 04:26 PM)
guys, i wanna ask ah

1. must our parent's salary below 5k to apply this unipack?
(because from one of the LYN topics i saw a member telling that need parent's slip to proof their earning power below 5k de?)

but one of the streamyx agent told me its for "1Malaysia" package de, for unipack only need the chop stuffs from Uni.
2. I'm kinda confused with the deposits or waived things, so actually how much i gonna pay for first month? let's say i order for 4mbps de

RM44 (divided to 50% for 1st month) + RM75 = RM119.00 isit? or more?
*
1. For the first questions, i think that depends on TMPOINT Branch, because when I apply for UNIPACK last Friday, the guy there didn't ask for my parents pay slip....

2. For the first bill, RM44 (50% discount) + RM88 (advance payment for 2nd month) + RM10 stamp duty = RM 142 ++ (itemized bills, 5% Govt charges)

Installation fee and activation fee, RM88 and RM75 are waived....

My 2mbps unipack already show the "symptoms" of problems....
My lil bro said , when surfing the internet, after about 20 minutes, ADSL and INTERNET light suddenly blinking, then stable again, and again, after about 20 minutes more, suddenly same things happen. Already do all of troubleshooting, reconnect back all of the connection, borrowing my friends wireless router, but same thing will still happen. Gosh! It just 4 days since I started use it.... What I suspect now is my area cannot support 2mbps and more line...... hmm.gif Before this when I used 1mbps streamyx, everything seems really fine, no disconnection, adsl light really stable, and I even can online for 2 days without disconnection....! icon_question.gif I can't do anything now since i'm so far away from home... will only back to my hometown this raya holiday... sad.gif Asked my father to call TM at 100, but he said he didn't know how to do all of troubleshooting.... he only know how to use internet... OMG!!!

Update : asked my lil bro to do speedtest, KL server, he said the result are 2.67Mbps download, 0.42Mbps upload, Ping to KL server, 75ms....

*
OMG~! Your problem are really same with me.... but you're just a bit lucky, since you can surf the net for a few hours..
but mine?? Only about 20 minutes, then it started to disconnect (DSL led blinking)...
I using 2mbps Unipack.... Feel really rugi now... pay RM83, but got not stable connection.... at TM point, where I registered my Unipack, the guy there has told me if we register 2mbps and 4mbps speed, their contractor will doing extra test at our house phone line, to check whether our line are capable of 2mbps and above speed.., BUT when their contractor came to my house to install Streamyx, he didn't do checking at all! He just installed the modem, make sure the ADSL are ready, that's all... not check the line capabilities at all... when I asked him, he said that I can use 2mbps line without any problem! After 3 days of using it, it started to give problems...! I even can't do anything at all now since my campus are too far away from home.... Only this raya I comeback to my home.... sad.gif

BTW, what types of wireless router that their contractor give you? Riger or Dlink?

And when TM will send my new netbook??

Aiyooooooooo!! TM CSR are really sucks you know! I have made complaint to them about my frequent disconnection for 3 days! But every time I called, they will ask me to do the same troubleshooting! Checking ping, restart modem, bla bla bla!
Is that so hard for them to SEND THE TECHNICIANS TO MY HOME! Today I will make last called to them, and will ask them to send the technician to my home.... Hopefully everything will be fine....

srsly? current line is my dad's and downtime is the only thing stopping me from applying right now
*
I think what they said is true. It's already happened to me.., previous streamyx was under my dad name, same as phone line also.
But, I can terminate my old streamyx which is under my father name without cooling period at all. I just Fill the termination form and cool unipack form, send it to my HEP, then after 3 hours of submission, my old streamyx already terminated. Then after 6 days from the date of my old streamyx termination, installer came to install the wireless modem and now, I already got my Streamyx unipack.., just waiting for the netbook delivery. Called HP and they said ETA at 30 August 2010. Hopefully.....

Or maybe it's depends on certain TMPOINT also.....

average downtime about 6 days, and I'm online using maxis broadband in that downtime period...

I planning to change suc** Riger wireless router to Dlink or Aztech router...
Which wireless router are good?
Dlink DSL2640B or Aztech DSL1000-EW(L)

The price different between 2 routers are just RM3..! That's why it makes me feel so confuse to decide which one to buy... rclxub.gif

UPDATE : Just checked my netbook delivery status! WTH! Before this it stated, 30 August I will get the netbook!!?? But now, changed to 20 Sept!!?? Gosh! They have "broken" their agreement... TM said it will take 2 weeks from streamyx activation.... vmad.gif

What type of modem that are u use now?

To check your netbook delivery status, simply go to https://h20497.www2.hp.com/os/simpleView.tcl

And before that, make sure you call HP first, ask them your order number and the date they create the order....

I think that depends on the contractor that TM assigned to you...
what modem available on their stock, if they have riger, you will get Riger,
if they have D-Link, they will give D-Link...
Mine was not so lucky, only got riger.... rclxub.gif
I feel that my old Aztech DSL-605E are far more superior that wireless riger.... laugh.gif
