at first was looking at Xonar, but after checking the prices, i am leaning towards Sound Blaster...
last i know, Creative sound cards are always bloody expensive... probably X-Fi Surround 5.1 is old (almost 2yrs), thus price dropped quite a lot... but for sound, old does not necessarily means outdated... and also, when comes to audio (less headphones and MP3 players), Creative will always get my vote... @Fan
the dependency issue with debian and ubuntu is minimal...it does not hurt (really) to install a debain .deb in ur ubuntu, if cannot use, just let it go now is quite a good time to try out ubuntu, specifically 10.4, is a long term support version. you will meet far less support issue in terms of software support with it. also, try out mint LTS, build based on ubuntu. |

i just realize another plus from linux (am using now, live usb mode...forgot bring windows cd to reformat at office...)
normally we dont dare to open pdf files in browser rite, always download first...cos direct open will cause mega lag.. open pdf file in browser with linux, took less than 2 sec... @pry, OSX is the only way if we want to sniff into other hotspot and ppl system? can linux does it? |

QUOTE(astria @ Jul 28 2010, 10:04 AM) Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 if price is the same i guess i'll be going for the Creative card...that one have 5.1 output which is an advantage to the Asus one..and i heard review saying it's not bad either..u might wanna look into the drivers, cos i heard creative's driver kinda sucks...![]() and Asus Xonar U1 Audio Station ![]() if same price, which would u guys choose? btw gotten Starcraft II inivtation key...will benchmark after it's done..since gameplay is just 7 hours i don expect to play much, so at least i wanna get the optimum setting out |
