QUOTE(Fantasia @ Jul 27 2010, 05:54 PM) guy, i need some linux user to explain something to me Well similar , there are slight variation on how ubuntu works. Basically you can install deb packages for debain to ubuntu , and it will work. It may rant about dependices , for instance ubuntu may install perl-1.8-ubuntu , the debian package wants a different version .Few others to take note Qs: since ubuntu is derived from debian, so both run the same ".exe"?? can debian's ".exe" file can be run in ubuntu? thanks a lot |

QUOTE(Fantasia @ Jul 27 2010, 06:17 PM) dont really understand... can u explain in layman term??(never use linux b4, just suddenly this question come into my mind and i cant stop myself for asking XD) its like thisIn order for you to play a game, you need DirectX 11 (the game is dependent on DirectX) , you'll be also needing nvidia physX (For instance).Thats what about The thing is that at times linux is fuzzy about which verison , you can have many versions of the exact same thing. A good example is java , you could have two versions of java installed on your PC. The latest one and an earlier one as well. Its just to fullfil requirements of some program which may have been coded using older verison . DirectX does this by having DX9 , DX10 and DX11 frameworks so all the latest games can still able to access the new stuff and older games can continue to use their old framework |

QUOTE(miahahaha @ Jul 27 2010, 06:30 PM) A very detail explained by prasys...that one should can give some light about what is what and why do we need the older version as well as the new one Okay lah , to be honest with you it gets hot. In Windows its not the best , if you guys want i can post the temps. I am sure your BenQ temps are far lower then this. In Windows to be honest it completely sucks when comes to power management. Added on July 27, 2010, 6:34 pm@prasys How is your MBP?? Good so far QUOTE(RyuKageX @ Jul 27 2010, 07:08 PM) Nah , its okay. No direct links to hacked copy of OSX. These days people go for retailThose with S41 or benq with 9600gt - seriously try OSX. I am not joking. May have to change wifi card. The other option that i would like to share if you guys want to know is how to sniff traffic in the air. Like if you're in a hotspot , you can sniff on what other people are doing and other things. |

QUOTE(astria @ Jul 27 2010, 09:38 PM) always wanted to do that on my laptop, heck, always busy with things around me... ATi graphic + Atheros adapter look like good hardware to get started... Atheros - yesATI - no Basically apple has not made any mobility ati graphics for the macbook pro since the first generation. So its impossible to get Mobility versions to work. Desktop versions do work fine. Your netbook , if it only uses N2xx + Intel GMA 9xx that would be pretty good. Dell Mini 10v is a good HacBook Air candidate or MSI Wind U100 ! |

QUOTE(evolution120 @ Jul 27 2010, 10:14 PM) gma950.. eh... not sure hp mini 210 using gma 950 or not.. atom n200 only or atom n200 and above? The reason why Atom N4xx cannot is that the GPU itself is part of the CPU. Its much like how Core i series works. Thats why you have switchable graphics card. The GPU is in the CPU itself , in one chip. You can get N4xx + NVIDIA graphics and it would work send to benq shah alam there.. as long is gpu problem, they gonna fix it free for u.. and ur keyboard missing 2 keys thingy, they will quote u a price to fix it, but u can tell them no need to fix when they give u the quotation.. i've been there before.. fixed my s41 also.. totally free the hp mini 210 can run OSX , but again you dont get hardware accelerated graphics. Good way to test OSX though but does not give you its full power |

QUOTE(Fantasia @ Jul 28 2010, 05:26 PM) Go to youtube , type ubuntu compizHave you seen MacOS X Expose and its 3d effects like wanna view all programs. Umm , what windows calls it , the windows + tab key. Cool Aero effect. Its something like combination of both for linux Its really cool and it does not suck like Aero. It even works with older graphics card ! Added on July 28, 2010, 6:16 pm QUOTE(wanttobuylaptop @ Jul 28 2010, 10:14 AM) i just realize another plus from linux (am using now, live usb mode...forgot bring windows cd to reformat at office...) No need OSXnormally we dont dare to open pdf files in browser rite, always download first...cos direct open will cause mega lag.. open pdf file in browser with linux, took less than 2 sec... @pry, OSX is the only way if we want to sniff into other hotspot and ppl system? can linux does it? OSX just makes it easier to sniff , you need backtrack and willingness to learn and the right wifi adapter. Thats all This post has been edited by prasys: Jul 28 2010, 06:16 PM |

QUOTE(Fantasia @ Jul 28 2010, 07:15 PM) posting using ubuntu live cd now ^^ i find that firefox in ubuntu is snappier than windows even though i 'm in demo Soon you'll find Linux handles a lot of tasks faster and better then Windows. @mia i dont have extra thumb drive Thats why I use OSX for normal day to day task and Windows for gaming and other things. Its cool , you should install it nevertheless and unleash the power Oh wait , no antivirus. You can even open infected thumb drive ,edit documents and such ! |

Its just to make windows users more familar. Again if you dont like , download the skin making tool and customise your own skin. You dont worry about it. Hate the program , compile it yourself. Modify the OS according to what you like
There is no stupid Windows update or AV which or system protection which prevents you to interfere with it. Thats the beauty |

Thats why I dont run 64-bit ubuntu , anyway
You gotta follow that , type in Terminal. Be familar with terminal. go to ubuntu forum and ask politely , people will guide you there. Once you master UNIX , there is nothing that is going to stop you |

QUOTE(Dackson @ Jul 29 2010, 09:26 PM) ~.~ Get a Life CDbut i dnt know how to install into linux that is the problem ~.~ i upzip the artemis.jar.zip ald but there no file to run >< Let me see if I can give you the jar file Anyway it runs flawlessly on OSX. Java is part of most UNIX oses. It comes installed by default for most of the popular linux distribution. Before I get bashed by windows fanboys , this is why in some tasks OSX and Linux is far superior then Windows . Obviously there are some other tasks whereby Windows excels ! |

Works for *nix a(wget and java) nd that should work for Windows , the final command. |

Read my blog why distro sucks
Seriously I am not going to help out if you're using distro. It installs junks and other crap which you dont know if you want to learn more about BIOSes , Internal hardware and such to tweak it. I recommend doing retail Buying retail and using distro is like saying , just go buy genuine windows and crack it. Same thing |

QUOTE(wanttobuylaptop @ Jul 30 2010, 02:55 PM) cant find ur entry about why distro sucks..can give the link? Change it to prasys.info and it should direct you to the correct page.http://prasys.info/osx86hackint0sh/ i am at this and...cant find~ Anyway , If you have ATI graphics card just forget about OSX. Your next alternative is Linux. Trying Linux is the best and its the way to go. You gotta learn up , no choice. Nobody is going to teach you, you gotta experiment with it. but if you know how to use Linux , its a big asset to whatever you in whichever field that you plan to join. |
