what if i make it a network storage? something like a centralized hdd where my desktop and my notebook can connect to it via lan?

Get a NAS enclosure, can be more expensive than the hdd itself though...

cheaper way...
use the sata-usb converter, connect it to the pc and use the pc to share it through network/router.
But your pc need to ON all the time...

Yup, the simplest and cheapest solution, but the thing is the PC/Laptop need to be ON 24/7 for it to be accessible smile.gif
