If you don't mind paying you can request for Ajiya tempered glass, very transparent and durable glass. Otherwise, you can get some common aquarium makers (you will have to track them down via yellow pages)

how come my stem plants the top leaves always turning red. its not suppose to turn red or not red at all when i first bought it. Got 2 different type of plants same problem liao.

Its suppose to turn red when the conditions are favorable to their growth, it means your plants are healthy la...

Especially when there are adequate lighting in the aquarium, they will change the pigment in the newer leaves to absorb different light spectrum.

And only some species will turn red, not all. If want to stop the red from coming, you can always decrease your lighting...

yes you are correct, different lighting condition will change the colour of the plants, ironicaly, different manufacturer have different light spectrum output due to the inner coating and manufacturing process. I have seen the results differs from cheap strange brand to good brands.

I could have gotten somebody to fabricate for me, but end up the cost is very close to the ones in the fish shop, if there is anyway we can make it ourselves I am all in for it.

My experience is that T8 ballast is very easy to find, T5 now is easy but T5 24W for HO bulbs is quite hard to find, PL ballast so far is difficult to find.

IMHO, a few hundred is too overpriced

Anyway, does otto helps to clear green algae? Spotted a few dots of green stuff on the glass of my aquarium, but the otto no help to clear that spot one

otto dun eat all type of algae, for hairy like ones, you are best settled by shrimps

im having a 1 feet tank using a 55w light.i have 1 hong kong pleco, 1 CAE, 2 otto, 2 CRS and 1 amano shrimp. i started noticing those algae recently and i suspect its due to insufficient co2. was running on a 1bottle DIY co2 before and 8 hour photoperiod. now i use 2 bottles and reducing my photoperiod to 6 hours to try and control this algae.anything else i should try?

For those with algae problem try this link, I like it cause it shows all the different types of algae and the pictures for each of them, very easy for you to identify which and what algae is in your tank.

Comes with suggestions on how to remove each of them too...
