QUOTE(Laine @ Aug 19 2010, 02:34 PM)
guys... any low light stem plant to recommend? my tank is 2ft with 55w PL light.. =) prefer easy plant.. coz mine is a low tech tank.. only dosing JBL ferts every water change... and seachem excel every alternate day.. =) thanks..

blink.gif 2ft using 55w is low light???
Then my one, 2ft with 36w is super low light lo... shocking.gif

I'm planting Asian Ambulia (Limnophila sessiliflora), Water Sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides) and Rotala wallichii (Rotala sp. 'wallichii')
I can grow them quite satisfactory even with 36w for 2ft, but they grow even better when I added DIY co2. The only difference I observed is that they don't grow new stems side ways. When I trim them, only one new stem will grow out, not like everyone else which has 2-3 new stems growing out everytime you trim. blush.gif So cannot get the bushy effect cry.gif

But now I'm considering adding the lighting to 55w la, cause I really want to make the stem plants bushy... sad.gif

BTW, how much you bought your 55w PL lighting??? icon_question.gif I'm thinking of replacing my DIY T8 lighting with a new set instead of adding another T8 lighting...
Cause new set got proper casing and reflector tongue.gif , and won't take as much space as 3 set of T8 fluorescent tubes...

hmm.. i bought it for around rm100... cannot remember the exact amount...

the problem is i do not have co2... i thought strong light and CO2 must come together in order for them to grow nicely..

thats y i opt for low requirement stem plant...

Be careful o, puffer fish very sinister one, later he go take a few bite out of your corals... rclxub.gif

I heard of someone getting the puffer fish and putting it in his aquarium where he kept a few dozen live bearers like guppy, molly and swordtails. The live bearers didn't survive the night... grumble.gif bye.gif

how dense is your plant?

If i were u, i removed all the guppies, tetra & rasbora.
No comment for the B.S. as for the molly, last time i kept they are top swimmer, rarely goes to bottom.
But there's still be chances for them to take snack on your shrimp.
