im having a 12 year mazda fighter(like ford ranger)
so was thinking to change a new 4x4 due to car always spoilt,

Heard the repairman says,
engine cooler hardly works, aircond hardly works,
engine centre steel bar(dunno they call wat) already break for twice.
max speed now only can reach 90 to 100km/j, else its shakes more worst than a saga

yearly roadtax for 2500cc diesel engine should be around rm8xx while the 3000cc d-max around rm16xx in peninsular malaysia.
roadtax are cheaper in east malaysia where even the 3000cc d-max barely touching rm3xx a year.

My 3.0litres DMAX roadtax for 6 months is RM824. One year = RM824 x 2

Get the 2.5 and you'll be so regret, the power has almost no difference with my previous Rodeo. laugh.gif

Are u willing to pay RM 1.6k per year for road tax? If so, either truck will do but Triton has more power, comfortable rear seats and car-like driving unlike the Hilux which is more towards truck feel. Test drive both before making a decision.

I took the 2.5 Triton because I don't see the need to pay the G an extra 800 in road tax per year. Not very fond of giving too much money to G since they abuse it. Plus, there are many upgrades for the aging old 4D56 found on the 2.5.

Hilux/Prado 3.0L 1KD-ftv engine is great (around 10 years of history).... do change the diesel filters regularly or risk expensive damaged injectors

i was in kota kinabalu for a prospect trip for the last few weeks and there you could see there most are those of double cab truck.
i got myself on the wheel of a dmax 3.0 manual, hilux 3.0g, triton 3.2 and a ford ranger 2.5xlt(all are company's associate cars in kota kinabalu).
i could say the hilux 3.0 is the real deal in term of linear power delivery. heck! it's even handles better in corner compare to the 3.2 triton.
the triton produced too much body roll in corner.
but the real value for money was the ford ranger 2.5xlt manual! test drive for more feel!
only drawback for diesel engines was the short engine drag( peak output under 2.8k rpm). engine sound is just unbearable at 150km/h.

Worth it if it has a common rail diesel engine.

Depends,Pajero quite ok.You are using it for off road or just normal?

If me,i would be considering Toyota Land Cruiser instead smile.gif

Not because of fanboyism but because of its capabilities.
*
Hi there,

Is not the normal huge Pajero, but Pajero IO, which is the mini compact version of Pajero.

If DI, it is an old engine technology found on Storm and Frontier. Not worth it.

the pajero mini was running on 1.8t gdi petrol engine. engine parts is easy to source but the car itself is quite rare, hence, finding a body part replacement
might be quite a challenge.

I think same engine as Ford Ranger. So, worth buying. But, remember... since it is not very popular, expect parts to be expensive and lousy resale value. However, if it is purely for work, don't sit there. Go get it.
