I only wish the road tax is lower... can bring in Toyota Tundra from Phnom Penh, cost USD 40k, convert to RHD and keep it... huge bugger, as big as Inokom Lorimas AU26 lorry.

The yik yik sound is common for all leaf spring trucks... lorry even worse. Just remember to spray to silicone grease to keep it quiet.

I love the Tundra but sadly not available here and only in LHD.

Here is one taken in Phnom Penh last month.

I'm using Aeroklas Sport Deck with motorized cover. Got it at RM 3.8k @ SS2. I'm sure can do cheaper than RM 3.5k elsewhere. Important is workmanship.

hi all, yesterday my triton 2.5M got some minor jerking while acceration. can i know what can cause the jerking for my triton ? can it be cause by fuel filter ? or ?

my car just send for 50k servicing last two week. when is the schedule to change the fuel filter ?
*
U should change the diesel filter every 40000km. Mine also jerking. Need to change filter before CNY.

Also, if truck more then 2 years, consider removing the catcon also.

if 40k, then the sc should been change it for me when my previous 40k major service... need to check has it been done or not..
*
The problem with SC is that they don't bother changing unless u ask them too. Only continental SC will ask u to change (just like what Tan Chong advice me for my company's Renault Kangoo 1.5 Turbo Diesel).

guys could anyone share the piggyback/common rail tuning box for mit. triton 2.5L? i would like to know the pros/cons of it and the amount of increased output after installation? which brand is worth a look and engine reliability and etc?
*
I'm using Vector on my 2.5 auto for a year now. Currently on setting number 5 to improve power delivery on highways. FC dip a little but power is available between 2200 to 4500 rpm. Plus, can do wheel spin on 1st gear launching.

Dmax better since it only has manual gearbox. Latest model with common rail should be even better in terms or power and FC.

For Triton, the 2.5 maintenance is a little higher because engine uses a timing belt which cost a lot (I did mine at RM 1.2k - change timing belt, all accessory belts, bearings and labour).

But, in terms of power, Triton is 2nd after Navara. With a simple common rail inceptor, u can increase power from 136hp to 160hp under 5 mins. If u don't want to muck around with the engine management, opt for the 3.2 instead but beware, road tax is nearly double from 2.5 easily.

recommend new ranger... should be coming out soon  rclxms.gif
why so exp wor... ur timing belt burst is it?

My truck is already 96000km, timing belt best to change at 100000km safest. As u can see, I changed early to play safe.

Are u willing to pay RM 1.6k per year for road tax? If so, either truck will do but Triton has more power, comfortable rear seats and car-like driving unlike the Hilux which is more towards truck feel. Test drive both before making a decision.

I took the 2.5 Triton because I don't see the need to pay the G an extra 800 in road tax per year. Not very fond of giving too much money to G since they abuse it. Plus, there are many upgrades for the aging old 4D56 found on the 2.5.

Worth it if it has a common rail diesel engine.

not sure it's common rail or not, but it's direct injections....

If DI, it is an old engine technology found on Storm and Frontier. Not worth it.

From the specs

  MAZDA BT50 2.5 Auto
Common Rail Double Cab 4x4 UF6J RAB CBU

So, it's common rail i thnk

I think same engine as Ford Ranger. So, worth buying. But, remember... since it is not very popular, expect parts to be expensive and lousy resale value. However, if it is purely for work, don't sit there. Go get it.

By the time Ford brings the model in, Triton, Navara and Hilux would have new FL or updates. Ford is very slow in everything... Focus TDCi also outgoing model in UK.

Santa Fe has great specs with incredible price. Unfortunately, it is Korean and don't expect good after sales support or good resale value.

Best to buy as used (1 to 2 years) than new.

Try this... after Vector.

1. At traffic lights, shift gear to L.
2. Use left foot on brake.
3. Accelerate to 2500 rpm.
4. When u feel the truck want to move, release left foot slowly and feel the rear wheel spin with white smoke.
5. Few seconds later, release left foot and let truck go until 4500 rpm before shifting back to D.

All those Ah Beng Wiralution will stay away from u like a plague.

IMO, underpowered for a 2.5 model. If 3.0, better but pay more road tax.

I noticed that actually. Especially when going uphill. Very significant. But i will used it for long range travel.

The 4x4 i plan to buy is actually 2.5G (M). Anyone know how much exactly its road tax gona be? And maintenance as well well.
*
Road tax is around RM 840 per year (estimated) and maintenance approx RM 3k per year depending on mileage (up to 20000km). This is not inclusive diesel which around RM 6k per year (RM 500 per month for 2500km)

For RM 40k, best option is Mitsubishi Storm 4x2 or 4x4... both also MT.
