T5 or T8 is same florescent light. T5 come with electronic ballast, and T8 can be coil or electronic ballast. Performance t5 is better. Don't get China brand, need to get reputable brand.

Real practical example, mad valley parking used to be t8, they change to t5, and during transition can see the difference, and now the parking is so much brighter. My mom house I replace the old t8 to t5, brightness is so much much difference.

QUOTE(Olivia1988 @ May 31 2012, 10:14 AM) Dear Expert/Sifu, Dimmer you have two option LED or halogen type. Led will be more expensive, halogen will be cheaper, but running cost is higher. Another forumer mention can use Pll light with special ballast, but I have not personally seen it before.I m not sure the qty of my downlight surrounding my Lbox(light through) is sufficient or not, attached 2 picture here for advise. I m so confusing.... Thanks in advance. My house use t5 in the light box and within the light box area I put down light. This post has been edited by weikee: May 31 2012, 10:32 AM |

QUOTE(phoenix69 @ May 31 2012, 10:41 AM) I know there is 2 type of T8 Light. The ones with the green edge connectors are brighther than the ones with the silver edge connectors. I know because I play with aqua grass before, and light is very critical. T8 is on the phasing out mode. |

QUOTE(svage98 @ Jul 3 2012, 04:40 PM) If want to install light timer for porch and back yard is it better to use energy saving light? are all LED light energy saving? Price difference between cfl and led, than watt difference, calculate the difference, multiply by the hours you switch on. You know how much you saved, and multiply by month you know how much you save a month. You should be able to rough out three ROI Oh to be fair, you need to compare same lumen too. |

QUOTE(Manutd_devilz @ Jan 4 2013, 05:03 PM) Anyone knows how the T5 lighting point being quoted? My contractor did not even charge me. Only charge switch point. For E,g if I install 14 T5 around the L-box area, Was it calculated as 14 point or 1 single point? As I know the 13 T5 point will be looping from the 1st T5 point , am I right? Or we need 14 lighting point for 14 T5? |

QUOTE(quan5047 @ Mar 29 2013, 06:30 PM) What is the brightness per watt? Lumens/wattSometime it look like good replacement, but when put into replacement the performance does not meet up. For new installation is easier, just put more lighting Source. Eg for normal cfl the area need 4 downlight, with led will need 6. |

9W LED = 850lm and with that price, you can go beat philip already. Even better than the Philips LUXEON I am having.
I don't need any LED now, as my house already using CFL, and T5 which i find is much brighter than the LED I can afford during renovation. |

You saying 80% brighter than normal T5? You mean it produce 5220 Lumens?
If so I would like one for testing. |
