owh... thats y some got heat sink to disperse the heat... ok got it

but stil rm70 for a bulb... a bit too much for me... got chandelier with warm white bulb. really an eye sore. plan to change it to cool white... but the bulb price makes me think twice.
*
This is direct E27 replacement bulb, so the driver is inside and making it less reliable due to heat. The normal LED strip and LED downlight driver are outside, is still generate heat.

I have not heard of the JSE bulb brand. Most likely is china brand. YET according to what i was told, is a generic china brand.

Many people prefer easy fixing without ballast. Too bad even the good E27 bulb won't last long compare to PLC

yesterday, i was quoted 2 prices for DL:

1. rm12 for a 4" dl full package with 18w bulb brand YSE. 1 year warranty
2. rm 10 for a 4" dl full package with 20w bulb. unknown brand. 6 month warranty

but the salesgirl also said that if i want dl below rm10, she also have. im confused. actually what criteria u need to look for?
*
Go try compare with other made and build quality. You know why is so cheap.

Dont go for YSE bulb, light illumination not bright if compared to GE, up to this moment, I still preferred GE for all bulbs
*
I got GE, Osram, Philip. All this are good, I don't see much difference between the 3 brands. I think someone mention hitachi, but have not use it before.

Hi, anyone here have seen downlight that come with sensor features? Mind to share it here? Thx.

I wanted to install at my car porch. Wanted to install hager timer at first but I think sensor is much better than timer.
*
If still unde Reno add a timer is good. My parking porch have two T5 one control by timer another control by normal switch. Leave one switch on is good.

Mind to share here how much does it cost for Hager Timer with installation? My contractor charged me RM250 on that. He said the wiremen charge him RM180 on the Hager Timer alone but I understand it should be around RM100-RM130 only. Am I right? Else, I have to DIY myself then... using Ceiling Mounted Motion Sensor like this.

Ceiling Mounted Motion Sensor

So any idea? Thx first tongue.gif

The timer is about 80+- when i got it in sept. Maybe now is around 90+-.

The installation is free, my wireman do it free for me, maybe already part of lighting cost. I told him I need timer for parking porch, so he prepare 2 set of wiring, one for timer (on the left T5), another for switch (on the right T5)

my experience with the so called branded bulbs is pretty hit and miss... my current house used all hitachi bulbs initially but screw on type... some lasted some time but most didn't really last that long. Eventually changed to the cheaper chinamade/local brands... also felt it lasted about the same. however, the PLC appeared to be better as I changed 2 of my downlights that i switch on every night about 1 year later after the light itself spoilt. With the everynight use, one of the bulb lasted about 3-4 years and still going strong, another one also hit and miss but lasted about 1+ year before I changed another...

PLC is always more reliable.

Actually no need special skill, is just connecting 2 wires from source, and 2 wire to output.

Alibaba? They are selling 1000Qty wor. Do they sell 1 or 2pcs 1?

In Alibaba, last ime (about 2 years ago) I ask for small quantity, they have minimal order. Well not much, if you can fit in 20' footer they will do the order. If not, they suggest you hold until someone make the order into Malaysia and share the shipment.

Hi guys, I have a 24 feet X 15 feet living hall, total size is 360 sq ft.
I wanted to build a L Box surrounding the living hall which will form a shape of rectangle, the wiring man suggested to install total 16 downlights at the L Box area. My questions are:
1) Is 16 downlights too many for a 360sq ft living hall?
2) If the number of downlights is 16, should I use 4" or 6" downlights?
3) What wattage should I use for the bulb if there's 16 downlights? go for lower watt?

Please look at these pictures to get an rough idea of my wiring layout.

How many switches for 16 downlight? You need minimal 4 switch, best will be 8. But why so many?

Better use T5, much brighter and better distribution of light. You can configure 2 switch for the T5 inside the L box. One for Even, another for Odd. So switch both you get all your T5 switch on.

2 switches for 16 downlights, 1 for even 1 for odd number. I was advised to install 16, distance between downlights is around 4-5 feet..Maybe the wiring man want to earn my money..sigh, I should have done research before the wiring..now If I insists to install just 8, then 1 switch will turn on all 8 downlights.
*
Easy, change to T5, even and odd. Better still convert it to 6 downlight in center, and 2 more switch on T5

Hi,

I have a question regarding T5 as I got a quotation from contractor for each t5 point.

example lets say 10 T5 light - Price per point times 10

[attachmentid=2746348]
Seems to me from post above T5 only need 2 light point ?

I wonder maybe if I was conned by this contractor.

Please help to verify.

thanks

Same for my case, the T5 connected using the male & female connector which only use 1 light point.

Anyone using the remote control for the switches? What is the recommended brand? Tomato?
*
I don't know tomato, I only know a china brand purchase @ Jalan Pasar blow out, and lucky did not cause any fire at my friend house. So better get a good quality.

Should ask without T5 how much. Sure you can find better brand and use, they may give you China unknown brand.

I just would like to know if there is a wiring problem for the downlights (plastered ceiling), will it cause the energy saving bulbs lifespan to be much shorter than expected?

Hope to hear some advice. Thank you.
*
What is your bulb lifespan now?

To some people one year is short, for me one year is consider ok for bulb without ballast when install at place need to switch on and off frequent.

What bulbs are you using? With our without ballast? Without ballast energy saving bulb won't last long especially on off too frequent.
