Yeah it's both relevant and significant to the story. It will only be fleshed out more in Season 2. For now, all it tells you is that looks can be deceiving as even a wimpy old man can play the game of thrones. Basically that scene kinda sums up the rule and nature of the game of thrones. Trust no one and play only to win.

I thought it's only a man vs man, kingdom vs kingdom kinda movie and all those dragons, monsters and stuff are all but legends, it turns out so differently, especially at the near end of the 1st season, damn i love it to death!

and i always thought Khal Drogo would survive....i kinda like the guy, also lord stark, never thought he would die so easily. At the beginning of the season I've always thought lord stark's son (the crippled one) and daughter would be great with lots of potential, but after the son got crippled he's out of the picture, until the near end of the season when zombies and dragons came out, till this point, anything would be possible, maybe the cripple son would walk again somehow (hoping). and about the old dude who pretends to be humped back and......weak.......when i saw the scene with him talking about kings and shxt with the naked girl i thought, god can he still fxck her? no wait.........he's NOT weak at all, just pretending, fxck!

Bran is definitely not out of the picture.
He has great stories coming up, just like Jon, Sansa and Arya.
