Beta might be OK but you'll have to consider the amount of players Bnet2 gotta handle once the game is released. sad.gif
*
considering WoW, not really.

besides, ping times and server load (unless severe cases) usually don't relate much as its the response time that is at stake here assumingly server is not overloaded (which again, considering blizzard and WoW's capabilities on handling servers)

Remember, IAHgames are not in-charge for the SEA server, Blizzard will be in-charge.

So .. rest ensure.
*
IAH will still be involved though, which is the source of people's doubts.

Warcraft 3 and Starcraft was fine and WoW players said that was is fine too, based on all these past experience I have my confidence on US servers from my current connection.
*
cant relate war3/sc as they arent entirely based on centralized server architecture as the current sc2 is. WoW on the other hand yes.

I think Bnet just acts as a lobby, and its peer to peer after game start.

When we were having nightmare, IAHGames wasn't in-chrage for the SEA Hellgate: London server (Flagship technical team did) as well...  whistling.gif
I don't want to walk into another nightmare again. US, KR, TW servers all have their own beta.... what do we have? IAHGames cant even make a proper announcement about the game yet.. the game will be launch in 20days. SEA don't even have a proper web site. IAHGames is famous for their beta quality services. Not to mention, they stayed silent  for months when customers faced problems with their game.
*
Thats why when i saw IAH Games, again, i was like: shakehead.gif

These idiots can never manage something well.

Probably end up changing to to US edition in the end.

not quite. its not the old wc3 architecture and is not purely p2p based.

If incompetent IAH cant even get the "lobby" working, i doubt we can even play the game.

I remembered back then in Hellgate, we get updates 2-3 days later than rest of the world.

Bnet forums to request for REAL names

"Big news for Battle.net users, and possible important implications for net privacy as a whole, via this posting from Blizzard:

Anyone posting or replying to a post on official Blizzard forums will be doing so using their Real ID — that is, their real-life first and last name — with the option to also display the name of their primary in-game character alongside it. These changes will go into effect on all StarCraft II forums with the launch of the new community site prior to the July 27 release of the game, with the World of Warcraft site and forums following suit near the launch of Cataclysm. Certain classic forums, including the classic Battle.net forums, will remain unchanged. "

Based on what people give them cos its tied into their CD-key so if they put pokingmon as their real name registered with the key they he/she is pokingmon.

Except that if it's like Wow, if you ever need to restore your account that got hacked.... good luck if you provided fake name/address/details....

They usually ask for proof of ownership and co before restoring

This will be how they will make people put their real info.

I am not really fond of the overall move really, it's an attack on privacy on Internet.

Raise issues with kids having their parents pay for their accounts too, you put which name in the profile?
Parents? They might not want their name to be linkable to their kids trolling on forums or behavior in the game
Kids? Kids are not legally responsible for anything they might do...

How are they gonna match one's account if one fakes every single entry (including address) during the registration?

If like wow, you can say byebye to your account if you can't prove you are the owner of the account when you need it restored

That's why giving real info is "worth" if for the customer, but I am just not a fan of doing so

In that case how do you prove to them? Ask your boss to send them a company e-mail or send them a registered letter with company's heading and seal? hmm.gif
No offence here but just trying to be specific, sorry if you feel offended

If you remember your fake name, fake address and fake company and give it to them when they ask for it does it work?

No offence really, what happened is that usually people provide fake stuff and forget them, especially in the case of secret question or crap like this.

You also need to remember that for Wow you usually have a credit card linked to the sub (even if you pay with time card I think, I always paid with CC but I remember you need to enter CC info before you can open account) and I doubt pretty much you have given bogus info to your bank right? ^^

I never had to contact Blizz support myself while playing Wow but some of my guildies had a lot of troubles to prove they were the original owner of the account after being hacked if the info they had inside the account was not 100% correct and valid.
I know at least one guy who couldnt get back his account at all since it was originally an account given to him by someone else and he didnt change some of the details. Byebye 3 years of wow gaming and multiple high level characters. Was a bit of the guy's fault really but still quite painful.

They might ask for pictures of the key cd receipt put together with an IC or something showing your name for example.
To prove that this cd belongs to this person in real life.

I think that if you have a perfect fake ID you can remember it might work, but then it does become an hassle for what is after all only a video game in my opinion.

Nice logic, Blizzard.

Knowing other people's real name does not mean that you'll build better gaming community or stop trolls.

Gawd knows what crack has Blizzard been smoking recently.

I guess thats a problem for WoW players however I guess for SC2 players loosing your account isn't as big of a deal compared to WoW. Worst comes to worst you loose your 60 USD. But still as to what you say its really a hassle, and yes they can ofcourse keep track of you through your Credit Card, which reminds me that I will never ever buy stuff from Bnet. Thank the electrons that we do not have to pay blizzard employees monthly for SC2.

If you say Blizzard is still the same as before, i'll LOL. Activision definitely have an influence on Blizzard.

Blizzard is definitely not as good as before. Thanks to ASSivision.

People use nicknames for a reason, to hide your real name from the strangers/stalkers on the internet.

I pity those female gamers. They will get harassed even more.

Don't really the idea to scan my IC / Passport / credit card for the purpose of restoring my game.

Invasion of privacy.
