I have a question.

on my iPhone 3G, maxis 3G data allows tethering between my macbook and the iphone via bluetooth.

it is said the iPhone 4 theoretically shld allow bluetooth tethering with my macbook. but can the iPad tether to an iPhone4? would like to get an iPhone 4 and an iPad but not sure whether to get a mifi as well. i travel a bit so a centralised wifi hotspot would be ideal... dunno whether the iPhone4 or Mifi can assume that role.

problem now is iPhone4 & iPad battery life is now 10hrs but the mifi is only 4hours?

thanks

Iphone Cant tether with Ipad. It was designed that way. Less money to telco mah.
Mifi is your only option at the moment if you want to go with that combination.
Also take note that data cost will be cheaper anyway (RM48/RM68/Etc) against my RM99 plan.
This is also useful for those ppl who use a RM150 plan or higher with maxis which already provide some data plan or ivalue plan (which is limited in bandwidth)

Mifi is rated at 5 hours but realistically between 3-5 hours.
However, there is always MUGEN POWER!!
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/huawe...te-3900mah.html

Anyway the original battery life should suffice unless you wifi more than 3-5 hours a day?

Switcheasy has just released the Switcheasy Nude for iPhone 4! Here is the link!

I'm a huge fan of their lineup, and swear by the quality of their products. I have two Nudes for my two iPads, and they keep my iPads looking naked and protected at all times.

Now, until I get the Vapor case, I'm getting the Nude Ultra Clear for the iPhone 4! The good news is, shipping to LA is just USD3 compared to USD15 for all international shipping. I may opt to get it shipped to my LA hotel again. What great timing! rclxms.gif

EDIT: there's a bit of a complication with their payment system. They're using Paypal, and therefore will probably ship to the address that is tied to your Paypal account. I've emailed them to see if there is any way they could still accept payment via Paypal and ship to LA.

After careful deliberation, I've decided to see if these are available at physical stores rather than buying online. Reason being, I've invested too much on screen protectors (front and back) and with the Nude, the tolerances may not allow these protectors at all, since the Nude is a tight fit. I had to rip out the highgrade wrap on my iPad to fit the Nude in, so I'd see the same case with the iPhone 4 and the Simplism screen protectors I have on the back.

Sigh, didn't know it's gonna be so hard picking the many different protections for the iPhone 4.

EDIT: However, for those owners already with front and back screen protectors like Wrapsol and Simplism, this is anoher alternative:-

The IvySkin iPhone 4 Reception Case. From its description:-

QUOTE
The all new Reception Case™ from IvySkin is the solution. The Reception Case™ is an ultra thin protection solution unlike any other in the market. Measuring in at a tiny 0.6mm thin, it is the world's thinnest iPhone 4 case in the market. We have also utilized a revolutionary Polycarbonate material which is 0.8mm on the sides to clear contact with iPhone 4's new antenna system and super thin 0.6mm on the back for the ultimate protection. It's so discreet you'll barely notice you have a case on; it's as naked as it can be.

This clever solution conceals the new iPhone 4's built-in antenna that captures more of the available wireless signal and clears the internal antenna of your new iPhone 4 in a crystal clear case. The result is a clear signal, especially in border areas—which translates to fewer dropped calls, wider coverage areas, and faster downloads when browsing through your cellular connection.

The world's thinnest polycarbonate case measures only 0.6mm on the back and added 0.8mm on the sides for clear coverage. Your iPhone 4 gets protection from real-world hazards, and the built-in antenna does its work providing full reception without any dropped calls.

iPhone 4 Reception Case™ includes both front and back Anti-Scratch Screen guard protectors. Screen guard provides multi-directional, crystal clear viewing and the highest anti-scratch level available on the market today.

With those bolded info in mind, it means it will fit iphone 4s with front and back screen protectors. But shipping only on 2nd week of July. hmm.gif

Bro I suggest we shift from Switcheasy Nude to that IvySkin case. Reason being, the iVyskin ALLOWS front and back screen protectors inside the case and it fits. The Nude, based on my experience with my iPad, does not even allow the thin wrap at the back and the Nude will requires your back to be naked. This is not a good solution, since dusts may seep into the back of the unprotected back of the iPhone 4 and rubbing against the case and the unprotected back, slowly scratching the back.

If you're bulking the iVySkin, I'm in. Probably not on the Nude.

Here's further proof that the back of the Nude has to be naked to fit the case: pic of what you get in the whole package when you order the Nude:-

Notice the two screen protectors? They're for the front only. No SP for the back.

LOL Viv, until I get the perfect solution for the ultimate protection (the Vapor) I need something more tangible to protect the iPhone. Also, I don't wanna keep ripping off screen protectors to fit new cases. With the iVySkin, I can keep the screen protectors on, and when the Vapor case arrives, take off the iVySkin and put on the Vapor with the screen protectors intact.

Hi String, you are really poisonous. Each time you introduce something pertaining to Ipad and Iphone4, large amount of adrenaline went through the system. I have to refrain from it. Sometime it is not easy, but most time its good for old man like me. Please dont think you are our postman, I know the amount of stress you go through, living in a small cabin for a long period of time.

LOL, no problem cheah! I love quality products and won't hesitate to share them with you guys. Different people have different preferences, I'm just explaining my own preferences with the options I'm posting here. Others may like to wrap their iPhones and iPads with leather, me? Not so much. I'd like to maintain that "Apple look" that they have tried so hard to manufacture, hence my preferences of clear cases or cases that does not obscure the logo.

I've just emailed Ivyskin with regards to the iPhone 4 Reception Case, specifically the shipping date. If they can ship within the dates that I'm in LA, we can save cost by shipping to my hotel there, and I can bring them back with me. Waiting for their response now.

The Beats Solo HD headphones are wired headphones. It comes with ControlTalk, just like how the Apple iPhone earphones allow you to take calls.

The disadvantages of Bluetooth headphones is that you can't use A2DP controls of skip, fastforward, rewind buttons on the headphones to do those functions on your iPhone. You'll have to rely on Voice Control on the iPhone to do so. If you still wanna take a jab at a particularly nice Bluetooth Stereo headphones that streams audio wirelessly and takes calls as well, the Jaybird SB2 is a worthwhile recommendation:-

Only USD99. But to reiterate again, you cannot skip tracks, fast forward or rewind using the controls on the headphones, only on the iPhone itself. Also, the fact that BT drains battery power more than necessary just turns me off, I'd rather have my wired Solo HD with me and have enough juice to keep the iPhone going than looking cool with a wireless solution and fall flat battery-wise halfway through the day.

True but headphones such as the Sennheiser HD 555 that i own has freakingly long cable that looks like i have tentacles if i let it all out. I have to tie them up and it's very irritating.

P.S - Does everything u have to recommend me look so damn good? brows.gif

Added on July 8, 2010, 9:06 pmJust got an email from Ivyskin regarding my queries on when their estimate shipping date is. They're shipping on by 21st July, so it looks like it'll miss the period where I'm in LA. Someone else needs to bulk the order and ship internationally to Malaysia.

Added on July 8, 2010, 9:23 pmFurther clarification from Ivyskin on shipping charges to Malaysia got me this response:-

Ivyskin ship items to South East Asia via Express mail only for $36.95up to 3 items.

Which is USD12.32 per iPhone case.
