Anyway that's how it is with this thread. It usually stays quiet for quite a few month then suddenly a flood of replies then goes hibernate for a few month, repeat the cycle

There's a lot of problem now but that doesn't mean there weren't anything terrible back then. I still remember the days when opening Google takes up at least 1 minute. This was before they upgrade the line to the current 30+Mbps
There was also this one time when UNITEN is so despo they just stash students at the living room of cendi and charge Amanah rate. Since you're in 2nd year, I think you're around during this time. Thank god I manage to get a room

The internet's still the same, no improvement.
I managed to get a room too, but sharing, in Cendi. lol.
Rental's just too expensive, plus we also have to pay for electricity now.

Now i'll have to appeal for a room for next semester. Foundation students are back from their break, and there's a new intake coming in next semester as well

Oh trust me. It was worse back then. A friend of mine said this and I find it very true. You open a page, go make coffee, drink it all up, by the time you come back, there's still no certainty it will load
Not to mention back then Cendi only had 10Mbps LAN making getting stuff of private server a hell since most people that make them are seniors and seniors stay in Cendi

Well during my time I know some of the guys who fought with KMC (now ITMS) to get that 30+ speeds. For some reason, I highly doubt they raised it again

nahh. 100Mpbs is more than enough. Plus these days I heard not that many private servers anymore. What's the point of 1Gbps then

It's actually RM1 per day. So around 120 for whole semester
Not to mention the application itself is farking annoying. Get the form from accomodation office, fill it up, if forget port number must go back and check it then bring it back to the office to be cop, make payment at finance then at last, drop your application at KMC aka ITMS. And even then your internet will not be available on the spot. Lucky ones a few hours, not so lucky ones 1-2 days.

Though after they gave it away for 'free', not long after, the apartments were raised by RM10. With that alone they profit more than RM1 per day for internet since not many people take it and some just share it.

To be honest though, I like those times better. Not because I have to pay but when forced to pay only a few people applies for it. less people apply, less people use. more bandwidth for me

And not to forget, the place is getting a lil too overcrowded. Uniten keeps bringing in students, COE food court is so frigging crowded! haha
