i think u missed a point. female block is off limits at ALL TIME to males. get that in ur head first. it doesnt matter if u're not doing anything. ur presence there is enough to disrupt the safe environment for women.

reason: aurat.

not ur friend's aurat. the other women in the block. female block is where women can do anything they want without the presence of men. u being there disrupts this environment. respect women, my friend. that's the point!

nope, the limit remains in the building, not the compound if u did read the signboards.
It usually says no guys are allowed in girls hostel at all time but compound wise, there's a time limit, usually after 9/10pm.
U dun respect woman by just saying u respect them. u put them in action.
What makes me angry is that the so called MPP himself is talking to a few girls there.
Regarding the part i put in red, tell that to those pengecat/pemotong rumput secara contract. No offence smile.gif
U know what i mean.

+1, couldnt phrase it more better. It is not a crime is it, to drive pass female blocks to pick up friends, or to put them exactly at their blocks' front doors afterwards. Especially when it is late, it could be dangerous for females to be walking around late at night, with so many construction projects and those workers loitering around.

Pengecat / pemotong rumput? Fine, they can still finish their work by staying outside the female blocks. How about male electricians, plumbers and repairmen that have to enter female blocks for maintenance? Does not make sense ain't it. Aurat is hard to be kept safe. So not an issue. If the rules are not that strict, it is for the best, but sometimes rules are just made to be broken

1) Can students park car inside UTM KL? If yes, during 9 am - 5 pm, is it easy to get a parking there?

2) Facilities - How about CASE aka AIS facilities there?

3) Library - Is it big and keep updating their books?

Thanks notworthy.gif

yes sure they have it. at the front gate, usually staffs park there but student are allowed to park there also. at the life side and at the back quite many spaces for parking

library is big enough for utmkl students capacity, have 3 floor, iirc. the 1st floor got computer lab, past year exam bank, photostat services, mag, paper, etc.. 2nd floor got books, private room for individual. 3rd floor got private rooms for group. national library nearby with utmkl, so its more easier for u to search something u might not find in psz

likewise, shouldn't men be respected as well? why are we treated as though we'll go berserk at the sight of women?
because firstly, we're there because we had to be there. to pass books/stuffs.

if we wanna pikat them, we'd take them to nicer place then sitting at longkang outside the block.

maybe this sort of precaution stemmed from some irresponsible males. But whether or not such blanket rules to be applied to all males, that's a bit over the line i suppose.

Hello,

I have some questions I would like to ask regarding UTM.

1. When is the usual intakes? Is it in July? Is there only one intake?
2. How many semesters are there and generally they run from what month to what month?
3. When are the exam periods and when is the holiday period? Is there a long holiday period?
4. Will the university assist us in any intern or job placement?

Hope that I can get info from the current UTM students. Much help is appreciated. biggrin.gif
Thanks.

1. yes, UTM only have one intake per year, every july.
2. there are 3 semesters per year. semester one from july till october. semester two from december to april. semester three from may to june. note that semester may is only used for special cases.
3. end of each semesters. holidays are after each semesters.
4. not directly at the moment, no. but there will be a better system applied soon.

what did i say about aurat?

aurat is about field of vision, not distance. when there will be works to be done in/at/near the female blocks, residents will be notified of their presence. now, u didnt notify of ur presence to the entire block, did u?

fair enough, the compound is not off limits. but preventive measures are there for a reason. sexual harassment is a big issue nowadays, particularly in UTM. u've not met the feminist movements yet, have u? i recommend u walk up to them and say hi biggrin.gif. anyways, if the MPP pisses u off, then u have every right to report them up. babbling things here in a public forum with little to no connection to UTM wont help u one bit. might as well just blog it wink.gif.

Thanks so much for the information.

I was just wondering, in sem 1, the exams will finish in oct or nov? and in sem 2, the exams will finish in april or may?

And as for the holidays, you mentioned that they run during end of the semester, so usually does it mean that IF I am not in the special case for semester may, then I will have holidays during May and June?

1. Yes it's in July, but there are second intakes, around in August for those appeal cases.
2. 1 year got 2 semesters. So depending on your course, whether 3 or 4 years, then either 6 or 8 semesters.
and then there's the short semester; special cases :|
3. exam period are during final month of semesters, i.e. April and November.
4. They will facilitate u as in having job fairs and all, but ultimately u have to apply yourself la... haha

Basically, you can bring some electrical appliances as you mention..
You need to pay for the electrical fees each semester for that... The fees is depend on colleges..
As I stay in KTR, personal computer and handphone charger is FOC,
while iron, hairdryer, radio.. they charge RM 5 for each per sem..
Some of my friends bought refrigerator in KDSE, they share among 8 ppl i guess.. so won't that expensive..
You know la, girls prefer to cook on their own.
