hi mayb u can try to download this "mobile profiles" app from market.
it can let you set your profile such as general, silent, meeting. Its the function that i would like to have just like symbian phone.

When I receive messages, it doesn't vibrate, is there something I can do about it? because sometimes I can't hear it in busy areas.

had the same problem and someone in the old v1 thread told me to check messaging>menu button>settings>notification settings> vibrate smile.gif

Original plastic sheet on new Milestone screen:

QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Jun 22 2010, 08:25 PM)
Mine got peeled off after barely two hours I got my phone.
Perhaps its caused by mt tight jeans. So, those who wear tight jeans/slim fit jeans beware.  laugh.gif
*
Mine just pulled off after 4 months cry.gif I had only yanked the phone out of my jeans pocket when it was in a pouch, but the other day I carried it "naked" and the sheet rubbed off. I really miss it because it was pretty good at keeping the screen free of fingerprints. So now I need to ask you for recommendations for one that is transparent and does not slow down the touch function.

Another reason the pouch is good is that the rubberized back can make the battery cover come off when coming out of tight jeans. I think the new slimmer model will be too fragile for me!

Added on July 1, 2010, 1:43 amAnyone knows a way to keep your emails to the SD card? Or do we have to wait for froyo? Mine keep telling me I'm low on space whenever there's new mail coming in. Can't seem to keep all of my mails.

Hi MS gurus,
I have been a smartphone user for quite sometime. My current phone is Sony Xperia X1, not sure how to describe, the quality is bad , I bought it during launch and it costs me abt 3k. Now I will not buy Sony or HTC (HTC made the Xperia). So my choice is now down to 2 phone. Iphone and Motorola Milestone , which I think have a very good hardware. Recent problem on the iphone 4g antenna makes my choice even easier... Motorola it is. No doubt HTC or Sony make good phone but I prefer to go for good built quality. I have a question that requires answer before I make my final decision :

1. I am a heavy user on Exchange email, exchange calendar, gmail, gmail calendar. How does droid integrate to all of these apps. I know it supports all but how good is it?

2. How good is the MS keyboard? Owning an X1 I have changed keyboard 3 time during warranty, due to quality problem and miss typing. After warranty I did not change since it costs money to change. In the forum it requires at least 6 month servicing/ cleaning. Does MS users have problem with keyboard... like keys not working etc.

3. X1 really lags due to memory. How does MS perform, does anybody experience lagging and/or frequent reboot? CPU enough power or faster CPU will be better?

4. Anybody can comment on the sw / hw build quality? I heard that the 1stgen droid cover can easily come off , and in the US they give a replacement for free. Does it happen here? Does brightstar replace it for free?

My choice now really down to Droid/Milestone 2 or Droid X... hope gurus can help to give comment.....

for smartphones its hard to determine or measure how long the battery will lasts because it depends on how the user use the phone. i can say my milestone can last for 3-4 days if i use it as a phone, but it will only last for 5 hours if use hsdpa and heavy browsing. telco signal strength also affect the battery consumption, the lower the signal, more battery juice will be used to get the signal.

amin_bp:

1. never tested exchange, my company didn't provide the feature.
2. i dont use the keyboard that much, so far its working fine. but there are cases with the keyboard backlight not working. i think u need to play with the actual thing for few minutes (typing email, sms, notes etc) and see if it fits u. milestone keyboard received a lot of complaints mainly because of the design. buttons are a bit small (to make way for the d-pad) and they are not raised like other good keyboards. u may not be able to type fast (because u cannot feel and remember the buttons placement) but it gets the job done.
3. milestone has only 256mb ram, so if u put a lot of widgets on the home screen or have many apps running in the background, it will surely lag. but so far for me it is acceptable, not reaching the 'annoying' level of lag yet. but there are other phones out there having 512mb or more ram and still lags.
4. hardware quality is excellent. motorola really like metal stuff. that is why most motorola phones are heavy. do not drop it and it will last or protect it with some casing. i dont know about brightstar. i myself using starhub set. there are issues with software, alarm bug, music auto playing but i think it will be resolved in the next update. u can fix it now by flashing some files though. i've experienced a reboot once, that was during the phone running at 1GHz and i was tethering using hsdpa connection. the phone got too hot and it reboot itself. if im not mistaken, the design of milestone put most of the chips at one place near the camera. the phone will get hot when we use 3g/hsdpa connection or overclock it.

actually the signal issue on iphone4 is quite exaggerated. there are ppl who has no problem using it.

Sanosizo..
Thanks a lot for the comment.. I guess there are not much complaint on Milestone and I heard that Droid 2 has a lot of improvement from original droid, hopefully Malaysia can get the Milestone 2/x as soon as it launched in US . I am not really worry about the sw as it can be patched or upgrade, as long as the HW is good its fine. I was really pissed with the hw problem on xperia, and really envy the good old days where manufacturer make good phones that can really lasts. Hopefully I will not regret the choice I make when they launch milestone 2/x...
