Unifi will still be very limited by end of 2012.
Only 2 exchanges will be available by end of 2012. Why are 3 very important exchanges in Ipoh left out? Ipoh Central(05-25x xxxx), Pasir Putih/Pengkalan/Station 18(05-32x xxxx) & Gunung Rapat(05-31x xxxx)? Georgetown is also out, Seremban/Seremban 2, Malacca-Alor Gajah, Malacca City, Alor Gajah, Kelantan - Kota Bahru all not covered. Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Miri, ![]() Those left out you can wait for Phase II which would take another 3 years? 2015 perhaps? All those in Phase II, SKMM states that the BBGP(broadband for general public) aim is just a mere 2mbps. This clearly shows the disparity of speed differences Malaysian public would be discriminated with between high impact areas and the rest. QUOTE(xDarkKnightx @ Apr 6 2011, 03:19 PM) TM called me just now and told me that UniFi would be available in my area in September. Ipoh Garden East. Well if that's true, then it might be using other tech than FTTH.Most recently TM has been placing new ZTE cabinets around Ipoh beside old copper switches and they are labelled with "V xxxxx X" Could the 'V' mean that those boxes are meant to be VDSL DSLAMs? It couldn't be FTTH because September is just 5 months away and you should have fiber cables laid by now with grey boxes up on poles waiting in this short period. |

It should be interesting if they are finally using vdsl for landed properties as rollout would be fast but can our aging copper lines handle it? |

QUOTE(sg999 @ Apr 7 2011, 12:34 AM) Jelapang there got big settlement village called Manjoi and Meru.Like they say it's one of the largest settlement of people inside there. There's a need to do NEP and bring development in there. A whole different definition of "richness". Not monetary related but... you and the rest have the idea. QUOTE It should be interesting if they are finally using vdsl for landed properties as rollout would be fast but can our aging copper lines handle it? As long as the copper loop is within 500m it should be good for upto 50The new ZTE cabinets which pop up around Ipoh having codes such as: <Area> Vxxxxx V Example: For Ipoh area: IP Vxxxxx V For Tasik area: TSK Vxxxxx V That's if earlier forumer said it's true that Unifi will be made available by September this year as told by phone operator. VDSL2 is more sound since the short timing involved. Considering ZTE VDSL2 equipment is good anything but I wouldn't recommend Huawei VDSL2. I think some forumers have been complaining about them too. The better VDSL2 solution being Zyxel but not sure TM would consider using them. They have lots of experience deploying VDSL2 in large scale projects around the world.CHT Taiwan has Zyxel supply all their VDSL2 equipment with the smaller share snapped by Dlink. i saw their contractors laying in the fibre cable (black and yellow cable) underground and a signboard showing "lajur lebar berkelajuan tinggi". but nothing on the loophole yet. normally how long does it take for unifi to be available after laying the cabels?
