i found this great comparison.. but canon lens though..
http://www.shuttertalk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=3532

but atleast can see the prime sharpness..
i would really think 55-200 have better result than 18-55..

Naruto : No poison lar.... it's just to show you how a 50mm looks like on a FF cam and how much you can do with it. All poison are self poison! Hehehehehe... No one can poison you if you refused to be poisoned.

See my gear list - you can count the no.of lenses I have with one hand and still have plenty to spare!

at 50mm,

for the prime, you can go as close as 30cm(or less?) if not mistaken to the subject to take the picture. as shown as in shootkk's 5th pic. the girl's face + upper body can fill the whole frame(without cropping the pic la of course).

for zoom lens u may need to stand at least 50cm to 1m away from the subject to get the shot...hence u will get a less tighter shot..

sifus here pelase correct me if i am wrong. notworthy.gif

1:1 Magnification is true 1 to 1 ratio right? What is 1:2 ? From my understanding 1:2 is not equal to 2:1 right?

should be. since 1:1 means its life-size.. then 2:1 is magnification twice the size of the thing u photograph.

Theres no such thing as lens cannot focus to infinity.. Unless its spoilt or u put a close up filter in front of it.
