Ask ur fren/relative to help u bring them back. Better still if they dun have a visa because u can claim back ur VAT!!

can someone enlighten me as to how much i would be paying say a friend of mine is bringing back an iphone 16gb frm the UK unlock after VAT claims?

i looked all over the thread. all i find is 499.. any hint to altogether charges? say admin fees, etc etc. like total purchase of an unlock 16gb phone less vat.?

VAT is 17.5%. U might not be able to claim exactly that amount tho

Unlike America, all the price in UK are VAT inclusive so you pay for the price with tax included.

If your friend is coming here for a visit and has the opportunity to go to apple retail store and get one, he or she can claim back the VAT when flying back to Msia provided your firned ask for vat claim form from the retail store.

as for online order you cant claim back the tax.

If your friend is buying you an iPhone 4 16GB from UK, he will only pay £499.

Price before VAT is £424.68. The VAT is £74.32. However, I don't think your friend will be able to claim this whole amount. Easiest way is to ask for a VAT claim receipt from your friend as proof. (Though if this guy is gonna rip you off on VAT, I would use the term acquaintance rather than friend)

well, its better to ask your friend to get a pay as you go microsim from O2 and try activating it and make sure it works fine before shipping it back

Just a piece of advice as i shipped one back to Malaysia without checking and it has problem with activation. not really impressed with it as we got through a lot of trouble getting it fixed with apple UK

Yeah and check for a defects (apart from the antenna) and if found any head back straight to get a replacement

however you will need to get the phone from apple retail store and get the VAT refund form.

the VAT return is about 50 pounds .... after deducting all the chargez and wat so eva... this was for my iphone 4 32gb thou

just got my iphone 4 yesterday at my friend's hse in manchester..by next week i'll get my hands on it..

i'm curious though, do i need to tell my friend to activate the iphone 1st or not..i noticed that one of the forumer forgot to activate before bringing it back home..any help from the sifus? tq

better to activate..like mine..i didnt and once activation it says sim lock...so i have to call back apple verify everything..then i could activated it...
