You can update your 5800 firmware via Nokia PC suite bluetooth connection
or you can use the phone's built in software updater app to update via wifi

Has anyone's phone got screen froze before? Its like you could not restart and the whole screen frozen..

U cant update your phone using bluetooth connection.

U can only either update via WIFI or thru NSU nokia software updater

Im using wifi to update now by app.Upd , I don't see any firmware update inside the app.upd, only listed out adobe software,nokia ovi map and etc for me to dl, but not those like increase the touch screen sensitive and fix bugs all that.

i kena once when tried to connect to WiFi and then start browse, it become really laggy up until a frozen state.. press On button also cannot, so just took out the battery and put in, then ok adi..

Learn to google or search the frontpage. Its getting annoy for us to keep replying the same bloody question a million time.
If u do not want any minor but solvable problem get an iphone. When it crash all u need is to reflash the entire phone and restore update.

what should i do when i done flashing to Xtension^8 BUT i stuck in local mode for a period of time and it didnt start automatically?

i had similar problem early when i started using 5800xm. phone lag, restart on its own, hang...
but after reformatting the memory card and updating to latest firmware, this problem is gone.

only once in a blue moon the screen hang, but easily solved by activating the camera and exiting again, and it worked as usual.

honestly the best bang for the buck phone that money can buy.

i am very sorry for asking a bloody question and annoys you. yeah, i am poor and could not afford an iphone.

@ navilink, do you think it would have any effect on the phone by removing it when the phone hangs?

U not annoying me only many others. Thats why u notice the thread is dying. Those that care had enough and leave already. If u cant afford an iphone stop complaining about 5800XM. Because its one of the up to date touchscreen phone in the market that worth every buck.

at the beginning stage the 5800xm really need lots of your attention on all those miniminimo error...
but sooner later when u learn more on the device it actually out perform lots of smartphone out there...
what i can say is that the 5800xm is a "not so smart" smartphone at it initial state

eye on the N8 now...

well, if you are blaming me as the cause of the thread dying, i guess you are seriously mistaken. i have no ill intention to annoy anyone. surprised that someone could be so insensible to infer ill intention on my part for asking a question.

this thread was meant for people who wants to know alot more about the phone. yes, before asking a question one should search first because all the answers are all around. i could not see the harm by asking a question which is so simple to reply for fellow forumers. the answer could be complicated to search as it was compiled and i did not know which is the exact one i am looking for. yeah, call me noob or whateva.

The reason why the thread stop growing because ppl keep repeating the same question over n over. When ppl discuss more about newer things that makes ppl will explore it and ask newer things more and more then the same repeating stuff. When more newer things are brought up ppl are more active.

well,you did say i annoy you and you are one of the many who got annoyed. did i take it wrongly that you blamed me, one of the many who asked same questions for making this thread dead?

the front page is good and systematic with links for the intended topic. however, it was compiled that i did not know which one exactly i was looking for. nope, did not see anything in f.a.q. that i am looking for. No, i did not try to flame you. it was another way around, i guess. i have no ill intention, in the early good morning, to annoy and flame someone unless someone starts rolling the ball.

that might be the reason but there are also many factors around too. of course stuffs would repeat on its own when new things to explore seems to be exhausted and being oldies.

Guys, on the freeware section, say if I downloaded a freeware from PC, how do I transfer it to the fon and install it?

@StrifeShady : Usually there will be no problem upon force removing the battery (at least for me). But dont force eject the memory card, the files might be corrupted and you'll face WSOD.

Added on July 13, 2010, 4:38 pmJust run the .sis file through Nokia Application Installer(i think so? something similar to that) in PC suite and follow the steps.
You activate the installer in your PC but continue your installation in your phone. Its just that simple. But note you must sign your apps 1st.
