yay this happened to me XD

S330 you gotta test it yourself first before buying.
I personally love piercing trebles and S330 couldn't give me enough piercing trebles while my friend is dying suffering of painful tweets.

C3 also have piercing trebles and I don't like how they sound. Messy trebles sounded like plastic bag
Do note C3 had mild bass generally. and S330d got more boomin bass
but in other terms, C3 had cleaner bass but s330 got slightly muddy bass
*
C3 has a tweeter guard there kacau it thats why it sound messy.
Hmm...i think all edifier speaker with tweeter has piercing trebles bah laugh.gif

But i fall in love when i first time heard S330 tweets piercing me. blush.gif

change to LM4562/LM49720, or U can try AD806. How much does this chips cost? and any brother here offering the service of replacing those chips? cable wise, roughly how much for the same length of original ones? I'm planning to get a cheap usb dac, but not sure if it's good since i'm totally new to audio system.  blush.gif

If willing to DIY, try learn soldering 1st, until you're good with it then start modding your speaker. If not then you need to ask around anyone who had experience on modding the same model you owned.

C3 or S330, both speaker cable can easily replace one, i recommend Cat5e also network cable for cheap and very good sounding, try find good quality such as Cliptec or AMP Interconnect one, cheapo network cable spoils quality only.

I'm totally new to speakers..so...
After a week...I'm still a bit undecided between S330 and R1900T3...Usage is 40% music, 40% movies, 20% gaming...Things troubling me:

a) Connectivity - S330(D) - Do I need the digital input? Just using on board sound, or I can also move my Creative Blaster audigy 2 ZS over from my older pc (>4 years). On the other hand, R1900T3 is the easiest to connect I think.

b) S330 has lower freq, from 20Hz..R1900T3 starts from 46Hz IINM. I just wonder whether this range makes much of a diff...It's not easy to test specifically this range.

c) Most important question!! I stay just near mid valley. Anyone knows what's the best price for R1900T3 and S330 (or S330D) at the PC Expo now? Anyone knows?

I only see Logitech. I don't see Edifier booth...
http://www.pcexpo.com.my/floorplan/mvec.pdf

Thanks!!

a) S330D has extra digital input, you can try the digital or the analogue input see which one sounds better to you, but theoretically digital is better. If your onboard has digital output, you can try it out.

b) 20Hz and 46Hz does not make too much difference for normal listening.

If you look for R1900T3, remember the volume control is at the back of the speaker, if that gives you problem then consider other model.

That's pretty cheap, but is there anyone out there providing this service? By the way, if I'm looking for a usb dac, i should look for those chipset which produce warmer sounding instead of clarity right?
From what you say, the original cable really sucks till cat5 cable also better than the original?  sweat.gif  soldering wont be hard as we learn during secondary school, the hard part is i doesnt have the tools, at least not here with me. blush.gif
*
Edifier put a good stock cable already, it is part to get good sound.

Don't underestimate Cat5e, it is seriously better than those like Monster Cables, if you find a good one, it is able to beat most commercial that cost will really bleed your wallet one.

Please believe it.

I found this, this can tell that flat satellites always have little to no deep sound stage one. Both sounds good rclxms.gif

Just collected my C3. Sound awesome to an untrain ears, I'm more than satisfy actually. Let see how it goes when the Wolfson DAC arrive.  biggrin.gif It just doesn't sound flat like my M1250 2.0 speaker anymore, every song also make my heart beat faster.

Listening to Lionel Richie - Hello @ 320kbps with foobar2000. Treble setting at 4-6. The treble is not bad at all man.  thumbup.gif
*
Enjoy your C3~ rclxms.gif
Remember to run in by playing music at normal listening volume for certain time after that go loud.

If you would like some real hard run in, what i experience best is 200hz for mid range, 6khz for tweeter, 50hz for woofer using frequency generator. All these 1st need to cover up your satellites with some soft cloth otherwise you'll scream.

I had wolfson dac from chchyong89, not a bad one but i found it has high frequency roll off, the higher the frequency the lower the amplitude. rclxub.gif

It's a second hand unit btw, so I can hand funds getting usb-dac, cables or stuff like that later on.  blush.gif High frequency roll off, which means the treble aint as good as without the usb-dac? sorry for being noob or ask a noob question.

Oh my god, First of May - Olivia Ong, awesome vocal and instrument!  wub.gif
*
no sweet treble piercing your ear laugh.gif
for my case on board sound card treble is better, i tried it on other pc, the dac simply owns the on board one. sweat.gif

Normally run in for long time, replace the cables to some better quality one, have a mild main ac power filtering.

sorry ... reli newbie in audio ... hehe

Replace the interconnect to some better one, either ppl diy one or commercial. Speaker cable you can try change yourself, using Cat5e a.k.a Network cable, remember don't get cheapo one. Strip yourself and install it.

Power filter, depends how much you wanna put on, for my case i use this

6 port RM60 @ Ace Hardware or some other shop might have it.

Alternate choice, Belkin Mastercube, Belkin Gold Series Extension, Tacima CS929. Those way have better quality in every angle than that cheapo i found. Remember that not only get better sound but you'll experience much better display on monitor. rclxms.gif

okok .. is it the power filter is to stable the current wave ??
got abit confuse with the cable, but i will do more study on it Work hard.. brows.gif
remove those unwanted noise interfered by radio signal or electromagnetic noise. All these makes the device cannot perform at its best performance, imagine you eat too much bad food, you'll feel weak.

Same thing as the picture i show you, the power filter thingy.

and wanna ask last one , is it DAC[Wolfson from chxxx89] can act as a external sound card ?? for me this kind of newbie, is it enuf and a starter for me before i go to another level ??  hehe
*
Yes, but that DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) can do the conversion only, and normally internal sound card can do some other processing such as 3D effect, crystalizer, bla bla...

for DAC, is it need to find can connect throught my internal soundcard 1st then the otherside is for speaker ?? or juz find usb will do ?

Yes. DAC you saw mostly running USB. If you really fed up with the integrated, then get it, and if your laptop has digital out ready then make use of S530D digital input.

Audio stuff are not graphic cards so on, it can last quite long. Simple improvement will be cables, power filter and some position tuning, advance one is up to your creativity.

Anyone got any good foobar2k preset for C3?
*
Yes, good preset = no preset laugh.gif

My personal experience any preset just spoils the sound, but the resampler can use if you are on WASAPI or ASIO output.

yea.... okok .. thx for sharing ... XD

how about those equalizer ?? if i got DAC i also can go set those ASIO or wat d ??
*
EQ? Better don't touch those unless you come to end that cannot do anything. ASIO and WASAPI are not good for common use, it mutes your windows sound when the player used that is running. Integrated sound card can use WASAPI for Windows Vista and 7 but not XP but ASIO can.

Not to worry too much for DAC and those settings, leave it stock 1st and slowly find what kind of sound you really want then you will find what you need.
