i don't recommend anyone to install the froyo yet.. as we are kinda far without easy access for rma / warranty purpose.. although it's almost impossible to permanently brick android devices, but who knows luck might not be on our side this time

QUOTE(Noobi3 @ Oct 2 2010, 03:48 PM) You need to press and slide the back cover right up to the edge, if not it will come off easily. I find this a design flaw. Another design weakness is the location of the connector , right at the middle of the left side, it would be more practical if it is located at bottom |

QUOTE(Noobi3 @ Oct 2 2010, 03:48 PM) i also dunno how to explain.. the back cover wont come off easily but i put it in my pocket it will either restarts or shut down. When i press the back Dell logo part a bit too hard the phone restarts(this is solved now by folding a piece of paper slightly thick and place it on the battery before putting on the battery cover.)Sometimes after it restarts or shut down, it detect no battery/less than 15% available. Have to take out the battery and put it back in again so it will go back normal. |

Finally cannot resist the urge, I upgraded to ver 2.1 ( build 6941) : what a fantastic increase in performance . Every action and scrolling is very much faster.

I am using adwlauncher too. Did not even know there were issues with widget
On default homescreen. So far do not face any serious disturbing issue with this build 6941. It is a good worthwhile upgrad I have increased the system font size as I find default too small. It is s paid app font size This post has been edited by benny888: Oct 3 2010, 05:27 PM |

uh huh? I do not know the build number for the official, but if i remember correctly, it seems even O2 doesn't recommend Streakers to upgrade to official 2.1 at the moment also due to all the buggies from the upgrade

A fellow forumer has told me that he'd tried 8105 and is highly NOT recommended. He suggested I use build 6941
I will try later a baked version of Paul's build R2 based on 8105 available HERE Now on 3rd day using build 6941 - still didn't notice any bugs yet. I noted that using ADW Launcher as default launcher, tthe screen scrolling is not so smooth vs default launcher. I still prefer ADW as I prefer the portrait mode as default mode. Turn the phone and Switching to landscape when need arise is instant |

Turn the phone and Switching to landscape when need arise is instant This have already been mentioned but it seems many people are still unaware that the lag that many of us have seen in the 2.1 builds is due to one line in the build.prop file! The line by default is: debug.sf.hw=0 - it should be debug.sf.hw=1 This option controls the way the OS renders the UI! (hw=0) Uses the CPU to render the UI and (hw=1) Uses the GPU to render the UI! The original 1.6 builds for the Streak have this option to (1) and by some crazy reason the 2.1 builds (including Modaco's r2) have this to (0)! This is why you think that the Build is slow! Change the line in build.prop (located in /system/ ) with "Root Explorer" (requires root) and restart! Now the UI will be smooth as silk! Just an Edit! This is not my discovery! I have just made this thread to make this more visible! This post has been edited by Noobi3: Oct 4 2010, 09:39 AM |

honestly i didnt really notice any difference in that mod..
but so far with MCR r2 which is base on baseband 8105, i dont have any major bug. the speed is considers smooth, opening application is as fast as it should be, all widgets are working fine (but i cant update twitter application from market, or else the twitter widget won't load).. i never tried any 2.1 rom so i cant say how good is this R2 compared to other o2 official, or beta rom.. but i have no problem to recommend u guys to update to this rom if u find android 1.6 is somehow put limitation on ur Streak. |

Just pay once and you can use all his roms on all the gadgets he had develop roms for. Is worth every sen for guys like me who frequently change gadgets and like to experiment with new roms |
