Hi mate, you got your PVR under the Astro Max offer?
*
Not... I "bought" it from Astro....
exchange it with my previous Byond...
According to the installer who came to my house (the same installer who installed my Byond six months ago)..,
I'm the first who owned B.yond PVR at my district.... tongue.gif

i already have byond.i am interested with byond PVR.now i am hesitating to choose between upgrading byond by adding external HDD or upgrade the whole unit.because if byond,u can change HDD when its full if u dont wanna delete ur recording but PVR cannot as it only use its internal HDD u like it or not need to delete some am i right?
*
Yes, you're right.
But, with PVR, you can record one channel while watching other channel.
Or record two channels simultaneously but you will stuck with one channel that you're currently record.
I don't think that you can fill up 500GB space on B.yond PVR so quickly...
I have recorded about 30 programs on my B.yond PVR, mostly in SD.., and 5 in HD if i' not mistaken.., but I still have about 200 hours free recording space.... thumbup.gif

So far anyone having "record failure" or "record failure due to conflict" with their Astro B.yond PVR??

I have set many scheduled record, so far it is always channel 612 that failed. Other channels no problem.
*
For record failure i still not face it, but record failure due to conflict i have....
it's because I record 2 channels simultaneously, but suddenly wanna change to other channels...

I'm curious on whether they will allow us to add an external HDD to PVR as there are USB connectors in front and back as well.
*
for the time being, we still cannot connect any ext HDD to B.yond PVR.
Maybe sometimes, after they do firmware update....

Atleast RTM put in some effort. No news from Media Prima tv yet. Maybe i should imagine TV1 & TV2 in HD while some program are pillarbox 4:3... laugh.gif
*
For sure, it will be so slow transition in Malaysia....
Now already mid-2010, but still no news regarding digital TV... if i'm not mistaken, at 2015, govt. target that all analogue TV transmitter in Malaysia will be closed down and move to digital transmission like what USA does on 12th June last year...
But now, only RTM already simulcast their tv channel both in digital and analog... How about media prima? I heard from "reliable" sources, they now are testing transmitting TV3 in DMB-T/H around Petaling Jaya... it was transmitted from their HQ, Sri pentas...

Too bad the DVB-T user cant watch it... doh.gif
*
That's why they should standardized all of Malaysia digital teresterial broadcasting to DVB-T...
If i'm not mistaken, our govt. chose DVB-T as our broadcast medium....
or maybe TV3 just doing the test on different medium, DVB-T, DMB-T/H or maybe ISDB from Japan...

Then again, why don't Astro replace TV3 analog feed on B.yond to digital version? At least it's better than before. icon_idea.gif
*
Astro actually acquired TV3 from Measat satellite. So, it is alrwady Digital. Maybe Astro compressed TV3 stream too much and what can I said, TV3 is one of the most channels that have low PQ on Astro... Last year, I saw suddenly TV3 become jerky and picture become pixellite and it shows an information bar : MLK TV DIGITAL - Measat - Service not available. It only appeared for about 3-5 seconds, and TV3 became normal again... smile.gif

how long installation will take to replace my Beyond to Beyond PVR..my appointment on 6.pm tomorow
*
Installation will take about 40-60 minutes. For my case, it only takes about 40 minutes including activation of smart card... nod.gif
Activation of smart card was so fast, it only takes about 5 minutes after installer called astro CS...
Installer just need to change the LNB and lying another cable to your house...

talk to their CS, confirmed manual planner wont be included. Series link will be improved though. I cant see myself to remeber to set by programming weekly eg "to record CSI every wednesday night"

Astro Max stills excels in many areas... the remote control is better too
*
I think, we can't trust all of what CSR person said... sad.gif

It's already happened to me... when I asked them, can I do slow motion play with B.yond PVR? ,

He said that I can't do slow motion with B.yond PVR, and he even add some more, with PVR, I only can record and watch back the program that I have recorded rclxub.gif

I think they also donno what function available on PVR.., or maybe they don't have time to explore it...

But when I asked here in LYN, suddenly someone said that I can do slow motion with PVR, and he also teach me how to do it.... blush.gif

just press any other colour button, be it blue, yellow or green button, it's that easy.

I think, this is for normal astro decoder. unsure.gif
For B.yond, regardless HD or HD PVR one, you need to press Back Button on the remote to hide the WC Red Button features. smile.gif

AKJ,

thanks...i think thats silly, controlling my HDMI port...why deprive me of the feature when it costs them nothing.
*
yes, that's really "silly" actually, but I think, Astro need to pay "royalty" to integrate HDCP to their decoder.... hmm.gif

I read at Astro FB, they will also cease TVB8 from their channel line-up this month.. It's that true? But when I tune to TVB8 just now, it's still available...

I only watch Astro Wah Lai Toi on Dynasty package... tongue.gif TVB Drama at 8PM and Off Pedder at 9PM

Other channels seems don't interested to me plus astro did not provide any English/Malay subtitles at all....

cannot understand it... notworthy.gif

You pay the HDCP royalty ONCE when you put the chip on the mobo. And it's a very small amount.

but why Astro disable HDMI output when the subscribers did not subscribe to HD services ? hmm.gif
since you said it just one time payment and very small amount....
