Can some pls explain to me what the logos mean. N I noticed whether got dd logo or not on hd channels, that doesn't mean anything right now. Some channels or program still 2.0 although showing dd logo. What does <--> mean??
*
Yes, I also noticed that... most programs on History HD, Zhi Zun HD, ESPN HD, ASSP HD did not have DD 5.1 , I think it's only DD 2.0. HBO HD I don;t know since I'm not subscribing to Movies package.

I can't hear any sound from rear left and right speaker when I tune to the channels that i mentioned above. But my HTiB displayed Dolby Digital logo on it's front panel...

But for Nat Geo HD, yeah! most of their programs available in DD 5.1... and I think, that's the best channel that offered DD 5.1 surround. And most of Astro Ads also available in DD 5.1..

Is B.yond decoder was decoding both SD (MPEG2) & HD (MPEG4) channel into MPEG4? cool.gif
*
Not.
B.yond decoder can accept both modulation. If it cannot accept both modulation, sure you can't watch SD channels... tongue.gif
But it will not convert MPEG 2 to MPEG 4... it will just upscale it according to your settings, such as 720p, 1080i...

Is Astro getting more efficient, or is it my lucky star? I called them to subscribe to Metro this morning. About 15 minutes later, I can watch already.
*
I noticed today that PQ for SD channels are more better than before.... icon_rolleyes.gif
I don't sure whether my eye got problem or they have increase the bit rate for SD channels
Channels like Ria, TV3, Discovery, Wah lai Toi and AFC have good PQ today....
maybe your theory was true..., they're getting more efficient now....

Just called Astro CS..,

I asked them whether I can cancel HD Services anytime that I want, and guess what they said, I can cancel it anytime that I want! Only RM10 one time charges will be billed to my account and they also will deactivate my HDMI port and I can only use component output...

They informed me that after change to PVR, I did not stick to 1 year B.yond contract anymore..... and I can activate back HD services anytime that I want...

Anyone can clarify this? Since I hardly believe what they said to me just now...., already "terkena" 2 times by them... ohmy.gif

I planned to cancel HD services after WC end, and just maintain PVR services... it saves my RM20 per month....

QUOTE(azlanxp @ Jun 29 2010, 12:55 PM)
how to upgrade the firmware for astro decoder?
*
just leave your PVR to standy mode for about 30 minutes...

According to Talljustin, every 5 minutes, they will send a code direct from AABC to your decoder..

That code will tell your decoder whether it has latest software or not...

If your decoder/PVR does not have latest software, it will automatically update to the latest software...

and this action will be only occur when you leave your decoder to standby mode...

the latest software for PVR should be ver 2.0s2, May 21 2010... smile.gif

guys,

just to query Astro Audio's digital broadcast is DTS/Dolby? or expanded all channel digital?
*
For the time being, Astro only offered Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, limited to HD Channels only. And not all programs on HD Channels are available in DD 5.1 Surround. For normal SD channels, only STEREO sound available....

Yahoo!!

yesterday my astro guy came and fix byond.

but one thing i realise. My plasma tv aspect setting already set to 16:9 and when i watch the normal channel, it appears like normal square size and not the widescreen size. It only change to full screen when i choose HD channel.

Then i tried to set my aspect to 4:3full and the normal channel is change to full screen but my HD channel pulak look "cacat"

any sifu here can help or give advice to me?

hehe
*
Ok, now, you don't need to "kacau" your Plasma TV aspect ratio setting, just leave it to 16:9...

The aspect ratio setting actually available on the decoder itself...

The phenomena that you're currently facing is known as Pillarbox... It is actually the actual format to show 4:3 video on 16:9 widescreen TV

To change your aspect ratio setting on your decoder, press the following buttons on your remote...

Home > Settings > Installation Settings > TV Settings

Before you enter the installation settings, it will ask for the pin code. Just enter "0000" and you done...

After you have enter the TV settings, find the "Conversion for 4:3 input video"

They have 3 options to choose from, first is Pillarbox (default settings), second is fit-to-screen and third is Zoom...

Select "fit-to-screen" and your problem will be solved smile.gif ... Fit-to-screen will stretch all of 4:3 channel on Astro and filled your screen...

QUOTE(natzakaria @ Jul 1 2010, 04:36 PM)
OK another scenario

If I get the PVR WITHOUT running the second cable will I be able to watch one channel and record another instead of capable of recording 2 simultaneous channels? so it operates similar to a MAX.

Then I will figure out the stacker/destacker later
*
I have tried this, I disconnect the first cable and let only one cable go through it., and no signal at all can be received by PVR.... sweat.gif
But when I tried to connect the old decoder (not Byond one, normal SD decoder), and it can received the signal... signal strength also very good! I got 78 for AGC.. biggrin.gif

Can you try disconnect a second and leave first cable connected? Post your result here.
I really want to know a result  notworthy.gif
*
unfortunately, same result as the first one happened... sad.gif

It means that, Byond PVR will only worked when we connect the 2 cables on it....

So "sensitive" lah this things... tongue.gif Cannot bring it to everywhere you want .. unless the dish at the place you bring in, have Byond dish coupled with 2-in-1 LNB...

QUOTE(dxjb @ Jul 1 2010, 10:10 PM)
bro..ur last sentence..does it mean whoever gets Byond PVR cannot use the decoder with normal dish?
for example..i am using normal byond..i can use when balik kampung and connect to normal astro dish..
so PVR cannot is it?
*
Probably.... because when I disconnect the first or second cable, no signal can be received by PVR at all... this is using my Byond dish + 2-in-1 LNB...

haven't try with normal dish...

Or maybe if u wanna use your byond PVR at your kampung, you need to have 2 "normal" astro dish and connect the both cable to Byond PVR....

Since you said that "normal" dish can be used with Byond... why not Byond PVR? The different is Byond PVR has 2 tuners and need 2 separate wire...

use 3rd party "illegal" 8 ft dish, 15K C-Band LNB and HD decoder (you can use Dreambox HD decoder).. tongue.gif
point the dish to Asiasat 5..,
and you are TVRO ready.... thumbup.gif
Oh, before that, make sure the footprint for that channel, is that available in Malaysia or not....
And if the program are encrypted, sorry to say..... you still can't receive it... rolleyes.gif
