TOS that's why you see I lost stuff so that ordinary Malaysian without priority banking access/working or studying in Singapore can have access to overseas stuff.

Just because someone is rich and have priority access they can open account easily. Normal people like me don't stand a chance if we don't have priority banking. That's why you don't see me promote anything priority banking way. My way are for normal working folks in Malaysia who just want to invest overseas.

Ya you have a point. I do notice a few priority HSBC and Stand. Chart. clients here though.

But based on observations here thus far, no one after you have reported success with opening DBS bank account in SG without buying UTs or have SG pass (unless I missed out some posts earlier).

Again, recent trials to knock on DBS' doors from members can be found in this post: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=106627194

I remember some others mentioned successful trials with UOB (also no pass/not willing to buy UTs), but they went missing when pressed for further info.

--------------------------

One must also not lose sight of the fact that too often, people go to SG to honeymoon with girlfriend/wife or travel with family... not specifically to open DBS SG account. laugh.gif

SG worse place to honeymoon/holiday. I went there and not going back. Nothing to see and do in Singapore unless you like to see people put tissue on the table during lunch time. tongue.gif

I have an idle Maybank SG account. Thinking of putting it to use by transferring couple of hundred k AUD from my Australian bank to this. Has anyone tried or done this, i.e., top up Maybank SG account from elsewhere, e.g., US, UK, AZ?

Do they ask for documentation and proof of funds like over here? I can do it over a few transactions, but not too many to avoid high bank charges.

Haven't tried but curious to know this.

I'm guessing it would trigger an investigation based on the amount.

I believe AUS banks have to report > $10K transactions to the central bank and Malaysia reports transactions over 30K RM

The only reason I go to Singapore is because got relatives there. Else you won't find me stepping foot on that shitty expensive island either.

Agree. I only go there as I have relative working there too. Vacation is definitely a no no to me as there’s literally nothing much to see + it’s quite expensive. I can get better food back here too.

Onshore SGD Fixed Deposit (minimum 10k SGD).

https://www.cimb.com.sg/en/personal/banking...it-account.html

----------------------

Or act as a normal saving account for your SG mutual funds e.g. FSM SG, Dollardex, POEMS etc.

If you are working in Sg, just go with DBS. Don't bother with banks.

For me, I use CIMB more than 5 years already, I never got any issue or problem with CIMB

Then Maybank very difficult to use, sometime you use Maybank debit card withdrawal from MEPS ATM can, sometimes cannot then MEPS ATM will show system error. (I lazy drive to Maybank ATM)
Another example, sometimes you need do some setting on your Maybank online banking but you cannot do it because not the business hours, if you do at weekend also cannot (speechless), online banking will show system error masssage, CIMB never like this.
