Not so easy to open in Singapore now. The regulation have tighten. But if that is not possible maybe try a foreign currency account
*
Now i am waiting for CIMB SG to call me and verify my account. Hopefully will pass and not ask me 3 ask me 4 macam macam...

Anyone knows what is the best answer? I plan to tell them for putting some savings in SGD and investing in stocks and FDs. Can? What is a "good" answer?

I've just opened a joint account at CIMB Sg
The instruction for transfer of the initial deposit SGD1000 for CIMB FastSaver account states :-
Would transfer from another Spore  joint account held by same applicants  to the  CIMB account work?
We do not have individual personal accounts in S'pore.
Or die die need to do initial transfer via CIMB My account?

Tested with S$1 - no response from CIMBSg yet

Anyone had similar experience?

Update us with your progress. Would like to know before opening with cimb sg. Thank you

I opened a CIMB SG recently too. I have transferred SGD10 from MY CIMB to SG CIMB. The rest SGD 990 I used WISE to transfer. Last week received a follow up email from them to ask some questions which I answered already. Now already 7 days since then. Hopefully will get a call or something from them this week.

Say, does anyone knows? Can I withdraw SGD from ATM in Singapore from my SG account using CIMB MY ATM card since the account is linked? Any charges?

Not exactly answering your question, But long long time ago, I used my CIMB MY atm card to withdraw rupiah from CIMB Indonesia atm, just need to using their forex rate, no extra charge. Fund was deducted from Malaysian account.
Likewise , with HSBC card @ UK

Re my initial deposit for CIMB S'pore, I tested with S$1 transfer from my joint account in another Spore Bank.
It showed up in my CIMB clicks online and the linked Sg account is shown as "active". Then transferred another S$999 from the same joint account. Immediately reflected in the account as seen in my CIMB clicks.MY.

It's been 2 days, I've not received any activation code  for CIMB Clicks Sg.
Hmm, maybe need to contact them
*
Not so fast lah. Wait for 5-6 days or so for them to contact you. After i replied their e-mail, it was about 7-8 days.

Total about 15-16 days from account opening (i bank in money same day i receive the account).

Thanks for sharing your experiences !

I thought something not right as their approval email says they will send  a 6 digit  activation code via SMS, to enable log-in to Cimb.Sg within 1 business day after account is activated.

So, the 'active' status i see on Cimb Clicks. MY  does not mean that the account is actived.
*
Yes. You can bank in money, but it's not activated yet, until they send you the sms telling you it's activated.

Then now, since he is quite and silence about it.
I think he may have realised what he previously believed to be ....
True is actually not true
Not nonsenses is actually nonsense
Not necessarily true is actually true
Nonsense is actually not nonsense

Yet his ego of having believed he is always right and he knows more than others could have prevented him to admit that he is wrong. It hurts too much to proven wrong again.
Try use nicer words to correct others, try not to use words like "not true" or "nonsense again", ...unless you are very certain to be correct.
*
No need so Langsi...even if you know a lot. At one time I did proved him wrong when he said I watched too much TV about people stealing one cent from Bank accounts. I was working on the Banking system then for a new system to prevent this fraud and talk to the the banking people behind what's the story. There was even a movie made about the "1 cent thief".

Share info, everyone appreciates, calling everything else nonsense or other people stupid(reference to another person) is uncalled for.

I only know one thing for certain. NOBODY CAN KNOW EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE. 😝

SG worse place to honeymoon/holiday. I went there and not going back. Nothing to see and do in Singapore unless you like to see people put tissue on the table during lunch time.  tongue.gif

The only reason I go to Singapore is because got relatives there. Else you won't find me stepping foot on that shitty expensive island either.

Agree. I only go there as I have relative working there too. Vacation is definitely a no no to me as there’s literally nothing much to see + it’s quite expensive. I can get better food back here too.
*
I booked decent hotel in Tokyo also cheaper than the cheapest shitty hotel you can get in Geylang. Just how ridiculous is that!

QUOTE(jas029 @ Mar 1 2024, 11:59 AM)
is the duitnow overseas transfer only applicable to participating banks in SG such as OCBC?

if CIMB SG, able to transfer MYR to SGD using duitnow overseas transfer?
*
QUOTE(Medufsaid @ Mar 1 2024, 12:04 PM)
Use ocbc or mbb Singapore, cimb sg not part of duitnow

If you need to send S$850 and above just use moneymatch as it'll be cheaper

Duitnow only worth it for sub$850
*
QUOTE(jas029 @ Mar 1 2024, 02:44 PM)
i see..

how about mobile number used? can register in our m'sian mobile number to say, our OCBC SG account, and received SGD through duitnow transfer?
*
QUOTE(moonsatelite @ Mar 1 2024, 03:19 PM)
yes, i can confirm that you can use a Malaysian phone number for OCBC Singapore and to receive money via DuitNow
*
This is interesting. Does it mean i have SG Bank, i can send directly to a Malaysia bank using Paynow and it'll convert the rates? What about if you have an MCA account with SGD. Can you use Paynow=>Duit Now directly in MCA without conversion??

Thanks bro!

QUOTE(Medufsaid @ Jun 5 2024, 11:22 AM)
open OCBC 360 or MBB sg bank account. you'll get debit card

you can also transfer SGD to your Wise account. withdraw from sg ATM using Wise Debit card
*
Aiya...i don't want to open account lah bro. Tomorrow go already. Lol.

But yes, i actually thought just that, transfer from my CIMB SG to Wise SGD. Just now tested transfer SGD50 to see. It is pending review (i have submitted my internet bill) and the timeframe shows it should be done by 5pm if all goes well. Withdraw SGD using WISE from ATM got how much charges in Singapore? In Japan it was 100 yen for 2000 yen or something like that.

Updated:

Just found out. Now i remember there's 2 free withdrawal per month and as long as withdrawal is less than the limit, there is no variable fees charged.

i linked wise virtual card to google pay. no surcharge when paying SGD in singapore. just that SMRT you'll have 60 cents daily surcharge as the Wise card is M'sia registered

only issue is is S$289 in paper money (wise withdrawal) sufficient for a sg trip

paper SGD i change in midvalley anyway. since it's still cheaper than moneymatch
*
I think i will just use PHYSICAL WISE card directly in Singapore. No advantage for GooglePay...no points unlike Samsung Pay. Can't remember how i pay for MRT there the last time....maybe using card? What card they use there?

Brow, what do you mean by this? WISE will charge 0.60 no matter how many times you use your WISE card for this within the day?

Just checked and can't find my EZLink cards anymore....sigh.
