QUOTE(Medufsaid @ Sep 17 2023, 01:34 PM) have u entered? just register and deposit the funds (without locking into FD) right? just leave it in savings acct I entered the one in August, so will receive my first "top-up" bonus on the 20th of September. Yes, depending on whether you previously have an account with CIMB SG, the terms and conditions will be slightly different. Existing customer will earn bonus interests on their incremental balance (end-day-balance on that day against that of 31 Aug '23) whereas new customers will earn bonus interests on their entire balance. https://www.cimb.com.sg/en/personal/promoti...ep22-promo.html Make sure your balance is at least 1k SGD for saving account (e.g. Fastsaver) and 5k SGD for current account (e.g. Starsaver) for the day(s) you wish to earn interest, otherwise you won't even qualify for the base interest (1.5% p.a.). |

CIMB SG users who participated in the 3.50% p.a. "floating deposit" promo may now check that their bonus interests are credited into their accounts.

Ok, there's something fishy about CIMB's Promo. For those mathematically-inclined, using my own cashflows...
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Let's ask ACCA accountant to verify my computation. ikanbilis can help check? Excel file attached below:
CIMB_SG_Fishy_Marketing_Tactic.zip ( 7.47k )
Number of downloads: 3The problem is CIMB SG delays the bonus interest crediting by nearly 1 month (it's only paid on the 20th of the following month) and between end of 1 month and the 20th of next month, your "bonus" interest just earns nothing, which drags down the IRR of the overall floating deposit. And yet you can't withdraw the bonus interest exactly at the end of the prevailing month. So the effective IRR is never as high as what CIMB quotes, i.e. it's never really 3.5% p.a., but almost half of it. Feel free to recheck my calculation guys. I may make mistake. For Sporean and Singapore PRs:
https://www.sinchew.com.my/news/20230921/in...ational/5000904 https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/singapore/...counts-end-2024 QUOTE THE Singapore government has extended the 4 per cent interest rate floor for all Special, MediSave and Retirement Account monies for another year from Jan 1, 2024, to Dec 31, 2024. The Central Provident Fund Board (CPF) and Housing and Development Board (HDB) said jointly on Thursday (Sep 21) the extension provides certainty for CPF members amid the uncertain interest-rate environment. Savings in the Special and MediSave Account (SMA) will earn 4.04 per cent interest in the fourth quarter of 2023. |

QUOTE(john123x @ Sep 22 2023, 06:57 PM) Be careful with Maybank SG. My debit card was "hacked" for some reason in the past and some Latin American companies drew blood from it, forcing me to call the SG card center to halt the card and chase back all my stolen cash. Account close since I come to SG. No such issue with CIMB SG (no card issued anyway), and DBS. I use my card very conservatively, not buying anything online apart from air tickets and MRT/buses in SG or occasionally NETS payment for SG hawker food, no usage of ewallets/Google Wallet/Samsung Pay/Apple Pay etc. At least that is the case for now. john123x liked this post

Attending iFAST Global Markets seminar now (for existing Moneyowl clients).
Just to remind you guys that the LAST day to open Moneyowl account is 2nd of October (next Monday)! » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « -Trading has to be done via mobile app... Website service is limited... But if needed (e.g. due to small font size etc.), can contact customer service and they will assign an iGM advisor to you do transactions offline. -Eventually all Moneyowl clients transferred to iGM will have an advisor... -For those with FSMOne SG, your iGM account will not be merged with your existing FSMOne SG account. (They are 2 separate platforms, one is B2B and one is B2C). -Existing Moneyowl clients CANNOT buy iGM's own products. You are only restricted to existing MoneyOwl products. To buy products offered by iGM, you need to open a separate iGM account (can contact customer service). -Can use foreign mobile number to receive OTP number. But may experience delay depending on telco. -Q: Will ifast perform due digilence on the fullerton fund if the fund underperformance drastically compare to peers. and ability to terminate them? I remember moneyowl will act as one. A: Yes, iFAST will act as "fund manager" and will change the fund if it underperforms. They meet with Fullerton 2 days ago and had a lengthy discussion on Fullerton's philosophy etc. -iPPFA and iGM are 2 separate companies. iPPFA is for external advisors, iGM is for iFAST's own in-house advisors. QUOTE(Perakpower @ Oct 4 2023, 01:48 PM) Did a quick compare about transfer MYR to SGD. Of course, they are already well known to be expensive middlemen. Wise: 5010 MYR - 1443 SGD T&G: 5010 MYR - 1445 SGD CIMB: 5010 MYR - 1435 SGD (from CIMB MY to CIMB SG account within CIMBclicks) All not good, MidValley Moneychanger beats them all by a big margin with 1459 SGD You need to compare with MoneyMatch and Sunway Money. |
