Hey Sifu's,

So i've read through the last couple pages, and would like some feedback if i understand correct.

I'm currently looking to open a sg account to fund my interactive brokers account.

So, since i have a maybank account, i should just do the isavvy thing? This account should have no problems transferring money in sg right?

For RM to SGD in isavvy, just use instarem?

Also, does anyone have the link for the isavvy form? Haha, i read its in the thread, but i can't find it.

I was able to open my Maybank ISavvy account and the whole process took about a month. I wrote a timeline for my experience with it, check my post history.

With my SG Maybank ISavvy account, I was already able to transfer money from my Maybank ISaavy account over to my CIMB Fastsaver account.

From Maybank MY to Maybank SG, I used Instarem and it arrived within 24 hours.

Actually I think same only. Reason don't like Islamic account is that they have may restriction on you. I only go for Islamic account in malaysia if there are perks.

Ok so I was able open my CIMB SG Fastsaver account all online, and within a week. I'm seriously impressed how fast I was able to open it compared to the Maybank ISavvy account.

Here's the timeline for opening my account.

Friday May 31st
- Applied for the CIMB SG Fastsaver account online. They required my passport, utility bill (I used my TM Internet Bill). Filled out my details and at the end I received my account number, and instructions on how to send money.

Saturday June 1st
- Earlier in the week I got my Instarem account approved (Thanks Ramjade for the heads up) and I used the payment system to send my MYR (Maybank) to my Maybank SG ISavvy Account in SG currency

Sunday June 2nd
- My funds were received to my Maybank SG ISavvy account the next morning and I used the FAST transfer to send it to the CIMB Fastsaver account.

Monday June 3rd
- Received a phone call from someone at CIMB SG asking verification questions, and also the purpose of my account. I told him to fund my forex accounts in SG.

Tuesday June 4th
- Received a text message this afternoon with my activation code and today I'm able to log in and see my $1000SGD in my account.

Total time to open my account, 5 days.

You'll need to have an existing SG account to open the CIMB SG Fastsaver as the payment needs to come from an SG account. Since I don't have a Malaysia CIMB account (I'm an expat) I'm not able to do a clicks transfer.

So all in all, a very easy process since I already have a Maybank Singapore ISavvy account.

Hope this helps anyone looking to open the Fastsaver account and doesn't have a Malaysia CIMB account.

Head over to Cimb sg, look for Cimb fast saver,  click apply,  fill up all the details,  upload all scanned documents,

When you are done, log into your other SG account and transfer SGD1000 into it via FAST (their version of IBFT but free). Account must be under your name alone. Joint account is not allowed.

The SGD1000 is just to prove your identity.  Later on, you can withdraw out everything also can. Sometimes I keep SGD10 only inside.

How long does the account goes dormant without any activity ? Plan to open an account before they close the registration which i believe sooner or later because nowadays its very hard for foreigner to open bank account in most countries. Usually they only allowed foreigners with work permit to open bank account now.

It cannot be done in Malaysia. You need to send back to SG bank or visit the bank in SG for direct exchange.

Just transfer back and forth between different banks to ensure is not dormant. Settle.

I do not know how you open. If you open the old school way, you need to transfer SGD1000FROM from local SG bank account as activation.

If you open from Cimb clicks Malaysia best to ask their customer service. Or read back few pages. Someone shared step by step how to proceed.

You are holding what type of visa in thai or entering thai with visa exempt ? If visa exempt then i dont think you can get an account easily. You can get it if you are lucky enough to get their branch manager to sign up for you by purchase the investment insurance about 10k++ per annum.
If you can speak thai then it does help a little.

I invest in a local company in thai. Its just same like SG 5-7 years ago you can literally just walk in with a passport and open an account in thai with visa exempt stamp. Now not anymore and they only entertain you if you have WP.

Cimb account only need either credit or debit activity in span of 36 months before the account goes dormant. Sweet. Guess its not much trouble to do that .

I still have $500SGD parked in my Maybank SG account. I simply used that account to fund the CIMB Fastsaver account with $1000SGD

Since I can't open a CIMB Malaysia account due to being an expat I'm not able to send via CIMB Malaysia to CIMB SG.

So this method is the only method I could do to open.

you can register to trade on binance, no issue. but if you want to buy crypto using fiat, that is a different process altogether.

Hi,

For the CIMB SG account, I can apply via CIMB Clicks Malaysia right? I can't seem to find any link that leads me to the opening of SG account. sad.gif

I see from the CIMB SG portal that we need to have employment pass/student pass as supporting documents?

Thanks.

No is not. Put in SGD 1.5k. Transfer SGD10 to Cimb fast saver to activate it.
