Off topic abit can we open thai cimb account at malaysia cimb as well ?

How long does the account goes dormant without any activity ? Plan to open an account before they close the registration which i believe sooner or later because nowadays its very hard for foreigner to open bank account in most countries. Usually they only allowed foreigners with work permit to open bank account now.

You are holding what type of visa in thai or entering thai with visa exempt ? If visa exempt then i dont think you can get an account easily. You can get it if you are lucky enough to get their branch manager to sign up for you by purchase the investment insurance about 10k++ per annum.
If you can speak thai then it does help a little.

I invest in a local company in thai. Its just same like SG 5-7 years ago you can literally just walk in with a passport and open an account in thai with visa exempt stamp. Now not anymore and they only entertain you if you have WP.

Cimb account only need either credit or debit activity in span of 36 months before the account goes dormant. Sweet. Guess its not much trouble to do that .

Register at cimb sg website and fill in all relevant thing plus upload the document required.
After done everything at cimb sg and received the account number go to cimb my to do linking ( it took about 24 hours for me to get it approved )
After linking is done you can see the account in cimb my , proceed to transfer 1000 sgd to the account and wait for cimb sg to send you sms for first time code for registering cimb sg cimbclicks. Then the account is fully activated.
The cimbclicks sg mobile app layout looks from jurassic era thou. Lol

Yeah , some of the product only reserve for citizen, same as thai bank some of their products are only open for thai, foreigner not able to subscribe. Even worse some of the banks do not give online banking. Only passbook and atm.

Just transfer from your CIMB MY $1000 to CIMB SG when you can see the account in your cimbclicks MY account and you are done. Maybe its not the best rate but its the only way except you have another sg account UNDER your NAME to do the local $1000 transfer.
