Wira 1.5M should use what oil rating?

I am currently using 15/40, is this heavy for a car that just clocked under 70K....

Using Shell HX3
*
I am using Toyota 5w40. Got forumers said it is made from pennzoil and penzzoil is made from shell.

no. that is the most common misconception we have. actually its widely used on new generation engines nowadays. check out Peugeot, Citroen, Toyotas, Hondas and etc. They are now using xW-30 oils.

Can my engine 4g15 use XXw30 engine oils?

Toyota? Brand named Toyota? Never seen before...or the oil is for Toyota but you use it on Wira

But is it ok for to use mineral oil 40 on a car that is on a low mileage...my car needs oil change in 800KM more and this is 2nd change...

Sorry mistype it's HX5 not HX3

why not?? as long as ur engine is not burning the oil off since its lighter (thinner) especially when the engine has gone a lot of mileage in them (more wear and tear - more clearance).

The brand name is Toyota. It is produced by Toyota company. Can get it in UMW around RM218+- or get it at outside around RM145+-. Confirm okay for low milage because new Toyota cars are using it also.

Such claims are (if done) ONLY valid under very strict fully-supervised lab test conditions eg as in Mobil 1 tests.

Does NOT apply in day2day driving and road/city/rural conditions nor w/o strict control and various conditions (which normal car users nvr comply) set for such tests!!
*

No , this is not a lab test.. This is a real life situation with OCI of 80k km..

best way is to monitor it by yourself. check the oil level monthly and if it drops very fast and needing top up from time to time till your next oil change... then you may have some oil burning right there. if its a little it is quite ok. but too much like as in to top up every mid month or so... then its not quite ok. like in new engines, driving it hard or normal till 10,000 km oil change, it does not burn any oil. well, i would not say does not burn at all but then the level remains more less the same throughout.

i was actually planning to go for xw30 ss liqui moly, however elton advised against it, and lately mechanic also mentioned that my car is suppose to use xw50, and even pointed the sticker on the engine (which i never paid attention, and hell, the sticker still quite good condition so long you wipe off all the dust/dirt/carbon etc sweat.gif )

expensive brands are expensive for a reason, for example, the additives in liqui moly ss should easily outperform something like bardhal FS, even though they are priced almost the same with 1 being ss 1 being fs.

can also refer to the other thread where 1 of our forumer did some tests/research on various high performance oils. liqui moly may not be a "top performer", however its additives in engine protection, which is very evident on the low/smooth noise revving and silky acceleration/rev goes to prove that your engine is in good hands.

as for me, i just want to prolong my engine life, since i just spent over 2k to complete overhaul it. and my foot quite heavy, time to time also red lining the car for no good reason lol, so liqui moly merely helps keep my engine in check smile.gif

thats what the official sticker from proton on my chassis says, even say i need to use DOT3 brake oil while im using DOT4 sweat.gif

maybe back then in 1999, high performance/low viscosity oils arent good/common, so they just recommend what's mainstream/common or rather, proven/confirmed to not give issues (like xw40 or even 30 may consume oil easily as it slips through the valves and gets burned off)

actually right, good SS that maintains its properties despite over 5k you can service it later. usually good ss can do 7k service intervals, however since carbon buildup is still an issue, i settle for a middle point between 5k - 6k, depending when i free once 5k is triggered.

so if you service slightly later, in a way, you consider saving a bit ady.
also, if you're protecting your engine, and keeps it problem free (again, oils like liqui moly emphasizes on protecting your engine, not so much actual performance/horses) you may not even need an overhaul smile.gif

that said, my engine is over 230k km over 12 years+, never overhaul, so... yeah lol.
