QUOTE(Cainz @ Aug 20 2010, 11:44 PM)
Hey there,

I'm looking for a laptop with followings criteria:

1. Thinkpad/Asus. No Dell/Acer please.
2. Budget around RM 7k
3. Going for i7, 8gb RAM, SSD
4. Moderate size, 14" will do.
5. Need it mainly as demo presentation, will probably run heavy resource applications like VPC/VM. Fast performance!

Please do let me know what would you recommend. Thanks!!
*
Since your budget is quite high, some recommendations :

Fujitsu Lifebook SH760, i7 760M + Nvidia G310M@RM6988 (1.6kg)
HP Elitebook 8440w, i7 620M + Quadro FX380M@RM5999
Asus N82Jq, i7 720QM + Nvidia GT335M@RM3799

For the 8GB RAM and SSD, you can upgrade that later because rarely we see any laptops come with a 8GB RAM smile.gif...from the list, i would recommend Asus N82JQ nod.gif

guys i have buy a new laptop it is asus a42jv but the problem is now when i do check online spec to play game the result is disappointed me... it mention that my graphic card is not supported... because it use intel hd not nvidia geforce gt335m... when using the cpuz application & also dxdiag same spec is shown... how to settle up this confusion??? (p/s in the task bar there are both intel + nvidia application or software install)
*
Forward your question here ------> http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1409216

Well, already got solution for your problem nod.gif...you need to put the .EXE in the Nvidia profile for it to be detected while playing, refer to the post inside the thread that i gave you nod.gif

i think he bought the free dos model one.. thats y he want to install xp.. how to install xp on free dos ya?? just install it like re-format our laptop or need to set up something in the bios before proceed to install xp?

i used to install xp on my acer, which is kaput already. so, if i buy the free dos model, install xp procedure will be same like format my old laptop before?? no need to setting bios or what so ever?? noob here.

Added on August 21, 2010, 12:46 amby the way, how's the laptop? nice and fast ahh?? asus a42dr
*
Most of the laptops now are using ACPI mode (SATA), before installing Window XP, you might want to change this one into Compatibility Mode (IDE) because Window XP by default cannot detect SATA HDD, unless you got the SATA-enabled Window XP installation CD nod.gif

Asus U45Jc supposed to be RM2799 the highest, where did you get that price?? hmm.gif

Sure can play GTA4 with both, just the matter if settings icon_rolleyes.gif..but then again, maybe you can consider something else like :

Asus A42Jv, i5 460M + GT335M
Acer 4741G, i5 460M + GT420M
