QUOTE(Bangsawan @ Jul 1 2010, 03:16 PM)
Hi guys.

I need some opinion about Acer 4820TG and Compaq CQ36-100.
Thinking of buying either one for my lil sister to use for her study.

Thanks in advance.
*
For girl, better 4820TG nod.gif..lightweight and also easy to carry around, long battery life compared to CQ36...best for student in class

QUOTE(ipayallan @ Jul 1 2010, 03:20 PM)
so basically, best bet is that i go to low yat to check this machine out?
*
Yup, gotta try it yourself see if it really up to your par nod.gif

QUOTE(T_P_H_88 @ Jul 1 2010, 03:48 PM)
1. Brand -any brand but preferably those with easy to find parts or got after sales outlets.
2. Budget -as low as possible...hehehe...
3. Specs -no atom nor AMD processor, at least 2gb RAM, HD at least 320gb, wi-fi, bluetooth, DVD (but if not available also fine)
4. Size  -as small and light as possible -travel a lot.

Need it for presentation -powerpoint + video. Browse internet on the go, downloading, check emails, lots of net browsing.

Thanks for the advises.
*
As low as possible is how low?? sweat.gif...give us some numbers to work with nod.gif

QUOTE(medabee @ Jul 1 2010, 03:55 PM)

performance i think both almost at same, well the lenovo is superior in graphics. it looks good too unlike the asus pale black colour.

anyway i'll do the survey at lowyat and if it happen that lenovo cost like 100 or 200 less than the 3500 budget, i'll buy the lenovo.

thanks for the help guys. really do
*
Well, for Y460 got 2 variant of CPU :

1) Lenovo Y460, i5 430M + HD5650 @RM3199 ---> but kinda hard to find as this variant limited in stock (almost no more now sweat.gif)

2) Lenovo Y460, i5 540M + HD5650 @RM3499 ----> also low on stock but still available in shops icon_rolleyes.gif

Nah, no Toshiba (with the same price range and withing your budget) can beat both the laptops that you mentioned nod.gif...most probably via online is Dell :

Dell SXPS 16, P8700 + HD4670 @RM2999

Dell Vostro 3700, i5 430M + GT330M @RM2849

There are also laptops that met your requirements but a little over your budget, such as :

Sony Vaio CW26, i5 520M + Nvidia GT 330M, 1600x900 @RM3699

Sony Vaio EA16, i5 520M + ATi HD5650 @RM3999

Toshiba M645-1002TX, i5 450M + Nvidia GT330M @RM3999~~Coming Soon

Acer 5745G, i7 720QM + Nvidia GT330M @RM3799

Toshiba F60-S530, i3 330M + Nvidia GT330M @RM3799 + Toshiba Wireless Mouse+ 2nd and 3rd Year Local Warranty+ RM200 Shopping Voucher

err i know tri means three while dual means two
but what are the difference?
sweat.gif
thx
*
Well, Tri-Core means that it have 3 cores in one CPU, while Dual-Core only got 2 cores...which means with 3 cores, you can do a lot more tasks without burdening the CPU on processes, same goes with 2 cores but the performance sure lacks a bit from a 3 cores nod.gif...

Simple example :

One house got 3 cars while another only got 2 cars....so which is more merrier and can do a lot of stuffs?? Sure the house with 3 cars icon_rolleyes.gif

*
Agree with lee, if want better battery life and switchable GPU, better opt for 4745G (but i dun see any of this model around in the market anymore hmm.gif)

hi guys.
i'm weighing between asus a42jv and acer 4820tg. which of these 2 is better in terms of:

1. playing games / video editing

2. screen - i dont like very reflective surface

3. heat/temperature control
*
1. A42Jv

2. Both are the same nod.gif

3. 4820TG is slightly cooler than A42Jv but the heat is not a problem for both of the models nod.gif

QUOTE(markypcs @ Jul 7 2010, 07:07 PM)
Which is better?
Asus A42Jv or A42Jk?
Jk processor is i5-520 and jv is only i5-450. Does it really make a difference or just slight improvement?
Jk : ATI 5145 1GB DDR3
Jv : Nvidia GT335M 1GB DDR3
How does the g card compare to each other?
The price isn't that far apart too.

How about those laptops compared with
Acer Aspire 5741G-524G50MN Nvidia GT 320M 4GB DDR3 @2999
*
For an overall winner, it goes to A42Jv nod.gif...perfect for gaming and also the CPU doesn't lose much nod.gif...GT335M is way over HD5145 in terms of gaming nod.gif...HD5145 is lower than HD5470 in terms of performance icon_rolleyes.gif

If you want a big screen, then 5471G is a good choice but still lose in overall performance compared to A42Jv icon_rolleyes.gif

Any Laptop Recommend for spec :
For online gaming and medium Performance application uses.

17'' Above (more concern on 17'' above)
Intel i3 above or AMD 2.3 ghz above
Build-In Web-Cam
1 x 2mb Ram DDR3 (upgradeable)
Video Card (Better then medium type graphic game)
Brand : DELL , ACER , ASUS , HP .. Or recomend
Budget : RM 2800
*
Dell Vostro 3700 suits you best, and all the requirements already pointing to it laugh.gif

hi guys, before this using the 11.6" acer 1810tz, now got extra money for new lappy.

any suggestion?

1.budget rm4k
2. mid gaming
3. can perform software like autocad,cs5 and etc..

in my mind want to get the alienware m11x or asus a4JV< if correct

so how?
*
Any size requirements?? Because M11x is 11" while A42Jv is 14"...care to go for 15"?? laugh.gif

Some that you might consider looking at :

Sony Vaio EA16, i5 520M + ATi HD5650@RM3999
Sony Vaio CW26, i5 520M + Nvidia GT 330M, 1600x900@RM3699
Lenovo Y460, i5 430M + ATi HD5650@RM3299~~i5 540M@RM3499
Asus N82Jq, i7 720QM + Nvidia GT335M@RM4499

*Asus N82Jv , i5 520M + GT335M @RM3999 --> This model is quite hard to find but its better than A42Jv nod.gif

Added on July 8, 2010, 8:15 ambtw, aren't M11x is too small for the apps that you want to run?? CS5 & AutoCAD, a bigger work space sure is nice, like VAIO CW26 nod.gif

MSI CX420 Core i5 , 2GB , 500GB , win7 home premium 64bit, ATI 5470 1GB DDR3 @ RM2299 at LYP , Imbi & Time Square
http://asia.msi.com/index.php?func=proddes...80&prod_no=1991
so this is cheaper compared to the dell inspiron 14R?
http://configure.ap.dell.com/dellstore/con...T510442MY&s=dhs
and it performs betteR?
*
CPU wise, yes the MSI is better than Dell...GPU is the same, but as we all know that Dell gives the best warranty service (after sales service), not saying that MSI service is no good tongue.gif...
