Anyway 4Mbps has a limit , depending on installer. Some you can beg and ask them to install , but again you cant expect to be synced at higher speed. For instance Zephs case , his SNR Margin is very slim but then he is lucky enough to get 4Mbps. He cant complain nor rant much if his streamyx disconnects as TM would simply say that his SNR Margin low

Beyond 3km , the SNR Margin will drop. Bear in mind that DSLAM For 4Mbps/2Mbps is not the same as your 1Mbps. You may say your 1Mbps offers a better connection , its true cause its different DSLAM

Why dont you you guys understand that Intel Atom is not Intel Core 2 Duo. Its just a Pentium III-M , even a Pentium 4 1.4ghz beats the crap out of an Intel Atom. Secondly intel 3150 is not even a graphics card. It cant really do anything much

The netbook is just good if you want to surf only

Just wondering if this Atom is faster than the old Pentium M? Those Centrino series with equivalent speed?
*
Nope , Pentium M is still faster then an Atom as it has a larger cache , the die area is a bit bigger and it has more transistors. Basically Pentium M series is the one that formed Atom. Atom is just stripped down version of a Pentium M. You'll be amazed that Pentium M beats this atom at a lot of CPU intensive stuff for instance surfing or playing flash content

Ah crap, and I thought this might be faster than my 6 years old 1.73GHz Pentium M laptop >.<!
*
No , your 6 year old laptop will be faster

Anyway TIONG NAM (If you're wondering what the heck is Tiong Nam , its the shipment company) , said that they'll be coming to deliver my netbook tomorrow around 3 to 6. I'll let you know

I'm jealous sad.gif, when did you get your streamyx activated and installed?
*
Did you read my "diary". Anyway I'll explain

26th April - Registered , and got the conformation slip (upgrading from 4Mbps Combo to 4Mbps UniPack). They said it will be done within 24 hours

27th April - 14th of May - Made calls to TM , called up MCMC. TM said my line has been already upgraded , however HP did not get any order information from TM. Some of their system shows that I've upgraded others show that I am still on the old plan. Finally they sent tech again to do the upgrade from 4Mbps to 4Mbps (surprising eh , they still insist on sending one whereby I'm already on 4Mbps , it seems that its their policy. But since its their policy , i did not bother)

16th of May - tech guy came , upgraded to Streamyx Cool UniPack

18th of May - HP entered the order

28th of May - got call from the shipment company saying that they will deliver tomorrow

It took a long time for me to do a simple upgrade.

Just upgrading took so long ? It took my friend 3 days to settle everything (upgrade + netbook) in 3 days... I guess it depends on the area again
*
Well if he did upgrade from <4Mbps to 4Mbps , then its okay. But I am moving from 4Mbps to 4Mbps. They still insist sending their tech over to my place to test if i can support 4Mbps , even though I am on 4Mbps

64-bit capable? Nice, but then the memory slot only got 1 right? 4gb ddr2 notebook module is so pricey sad.gif.
*
Again Atom with 64-bit capable it just does not make sense. The processor does not have the power , let alone 64-bit . HP swears that it only has 1 slot which is soldered in to the motherboard , but when you open it up. You'll notice any empty RAM slot (meaning that that it can take another RAM , the maximum it can take is 2GB , the motherboard limits it to 2GB and there is an empty miniPCIe slot - which means that you can buy a Broadcom HD card if you wanna play HD movies on it or buy a 3G card or something. I did not open up mine , but the service manual shows that it has another RAM slot

Forget about running windows x86_64 on it , i mean any version. The atom is too slow , plus 1GB is too little for x86_64. Microsoft recommends 2GB at least. Remember when you move to 64-bit , you'll need a bigger memory chunk

Hmm, meaning I don't need to replace the RAM? But adding on? So does it mean 1+2? or is it 1+1?
*
1GB is soldered in , meaning that its there. There is a hidden RAM slot , whereby you can buy a 1GB ram module and up it to 2GB. You can't do 2GB+1GB RAM , most likely it would not even boot , even if it does , it may not be able to address 3GB , but limits to 2GB. I wouldnt recommend you to open it up , by doing so it may void the warranty

How did you find 2 slots or a soldered RAM? My 1GB ram is a regular SODIMM and there is only one slot.
*
Which variant is yours. I was reading the service manual. Pm me up and I'll link you up. Its for hp mini 210.

QUOTE(mkei87 @ May 31 2010, 01:03 PM)
how to check whether it's 64bit??
*
Run CPU-Z and you'll notice EM64T , which means that its possible to run 64-bit OS on the netbook (i.e 7 Professional x86_64)

i went to tm point klang today..waited for 1hour plus..den the officer tell me that i need my college official chop 1st(even i have a letter from my college) only can apply..but prob is i need a new homeline for this package.so he ask me to apply new homeline now den 2moro tm ppl will come to my hs to install the homeline den only i go find him to apply uni pack.so,i say ok lo..since he say must have homeline 1st only can apply uni pack.

i saw that the uni pack 'flyer' stated rm50 connection fees is waived but that officer ask me to pay rm135(75deposit+50con fees+10stamp duty).den i ask him bout the connection fees waived things la..but he say i must pay.

den just now i read back the faq section in the 'flyer' stated NO.5-connection fees is waived(main point).

so now i vy blur bout it...y i need to pay rm50 le??can any1 help me bout this?
*
Its because you applied a phone line , its not part of the UniPack thingy. If you did unipack + phoneline together then the 50 ringgit can be waived. You had to options , register a normal line and then later register cool unipack or register both together.

Yeah, honestly I want to report this to their company. So irresponsible carrier service.

If you couldn't come, the least you could do was made a call informing your client that you cannot make it in time. Say if I have urgent matters to attend I couldn't wait for the entire day could I?

Not only that, he also switched off his handphone preventing any incoming calls.

Frustration, but I guess he won't be coming today.

@kireihinako,

You can do it at NAT page.
*
Well just wait , eventually they'll deliver it

Read first page please... about the WiFi modem...

And yes, they have tons of stock.. the government has just subsidise another package, the 1 Malaysia package thingy, so expect lots of stock...

Added on June 3, 2010, 8:23 amIt seems like my delivery was supposed to be on Friday, 4th June 2010, but the strange thing is he called me yesterday!

Anyone know if the delivery date should be earlier???
*
For me it as on the dot , at that time they sent me. Just wait lah , sometimes those poor chaps have to go from one place to another lah. For that I understand

The netbook with windows 7 is not that really bad. This is my current netbook (MSI Wind U100 , Atom N280 , running Windows 7 starter currently and yes its OSX compatible as well)

Attached Image

To be frank the only difference between N2xx and N4xx series is that the latter has a memory controlled integrated to the CPU much like the Core i series and EM64T support (to run x86_64). Benchmarks show that its not a major leap from N280 to N450.

http://www.techpinas.com/2009/12/intel-ato...80-n270-or.html

But the thing I've noticed that N450 is able to handle 720p videos a bit smoother then my current N280. I'll give it another go. Maybe its because of the new drivers !

Yay my streamyx was just installed. Young Chinese guy came to do it. Weird, since I've only ever seen Malays coming from tmnet. I asked him about this and he said tmnet now hires subcontractors. Reason, he said, is because tmnet received multiple complaints that they only send Malays. LOL

Anyway, my modem is the Riger one. Which is better, this or innacomm?
*
Strange reason. It doe snot matter , the thing is SNR Margin. You can convert the riger just to be a modem alone as well. Its your call

Just went to TM Point for registering new Home Line + Cool UniPack, but was told by the staff that Netbook is finished, left only the package itself. Can anyone confirm with this?
*
True my friend went to TM point yesterday , the person said the same. The netbook is finished , out of stock !

*
Well you must check if they are connected to the same exchange or not. There are a lot of factors which play an important role in determining your SNR Margin

I doubt the netbook actually "ran out of stock."

As you guys know, there's a new package with a HP netbook also.
The "Pakej Jalur Lebar" package.

At least I could try asking my dad to upgrade to that particular package, if it's possible. biggrin.gif
*
Actually it could be true

The other package well its a different thing , anyway if you take a look a lot of people are selling their hp minis for cash anyway , so most likely it would have reached the limit
