That's true...Astro SD channels looks so much better in CRT.

But if you must, then I recommend LG's 50PJ350R or 42PJ350R plasma. 3,000,000 :1 contrast ratio, 600Hz Sub Field Drive. 3 HDMI ports, USB etc etc. Great value for the 50" at RM4K or less than 3K for the 42"

true. plasma is highly reflective and annoying IMO. if only there's an anti-reflective coating...it would be perfect thumbup.gif

I personally own a panasonic P42x10 because i was able to find a shop showing astro SD channels in various LCD/Plasma they have. And i found out that the LCD they have(Sharp, Toshiba) tends to produce pictures which are pixelized and blocky. As for the plasma, it shows a much smoother picture which are easier on the eyes.

While u were at those shopping centers comparing LCD and Plasma, you will notice that Plasma lacked brightness and contrast which makes them looked dull compared to LCDs. That's true.

But upon reaching home at night, I open my tv and watch Roland Garros tennis HD(Channel 831) with my Plasma and honestly speaking, everything looked beautiful, colors are rich, details are sharp, contrast and brightness are well balanced, not too bright not too dark..no complain at all.

I've also tested an Avatar trailer downloaded from apple's website using my AC Ryan media player and it looked fabulous without any noticeable jaggies or blocky pixels.

As for the screen reflection issue, its abit annoying but as long as its not facing a background which is overly lit(directly facing windows or light source), it should not be a big problem.

Wah! I'm also interested to change my TV. Now i'm using Panny 37" LCD.
Your TV was 42" inch, isn't it? And it was Full HD or just HD Ready....
Thanks... biggrin.gif

Excellent comment.
If you are viewing more Astro (irrespective of Beyond), never ever go for LCD / LED / fancy thin 1" TVs if you are not prepared to hookup your audio to a sound system.
Speakers from thin LED / 1" TVs produce too soft volume; if do not believe, go to any display joint and ask them to tune UP the volume. If you like the sound / volume, go for it.

My standalone Panasonic U20 50" (also my previous 42" Pana plasma) produce excellent sound and volume for Astro. To be frank, my old 42" plasma (only HD ready) produced better picture quality / clarity as compared to the new U20 50" (which do not have S-Video input). I am not on Beyond yet.

Irrespective of Panasonic / Samsung, our eyes tend to attune to the only set that you watch at home everyday and you'll like its quality and fell in love with it; just like woman.
