Kanthaswamy BD Review

user posted image

Apart from few frames here and there, the quality is very good. The director's intention to induce artificial flickering is the only downside of the BD and more towards the later part of the movie. The details in the picture frames are well retained. Ayan BD PQ was good on detail too but on a bit softer side and this one though on the crisper side. A tremendous amount of work done on the encode pretty much shows off on the disc PQ.

The 5.1 DTS-HD MA audio track has enough oomph to be mistaken for a 24-Bit track even though its only 16-Bit. The channels are mixed very well together and is the loudest of all the Ayngaran BDs out there in the market. It has good depth and the clarity is also excellent. Depending on the taste of depth not everyone will like the loud track. But the majority of the people I feel will enjoy the shattering experience in their HT.

Definitely worth the buy if you like the movie.

Watched "Crazy Heart" last night...wonderful movies, touches your heart and how a person can change from a single event....wonderfully acting also, deserved the Oscar for Jeff....

And for country songs lover, it got plenty of good country music for you, the singing is good too...

PQ/AQ is 5 stars....but no boom boom paw lar as it's more towards musical expression....

Catch up title review

Rio Bravo

Great ole western, that sums up the movie. John Wayne with his swagger in HD. Westerns were made for John Wayne IMHO. Nice western, slowly builds up. Typical Howards Hawks fare, a drunk, an old man and a sheriff and the customary young gun. Dean Martin and a young Ricky Nelson deliver good performances, Walter Brennan is stellar as the old man. Nice end to it, life was simpler in the wild west.

PQ : I had this one on VHS. So the HD transfer is heads and shoulders above this! I do sense some DNR but it did not distract and was only on some shots. Transfer is very good, no dirt and scratches and the print is pretty good. Its a 1.85:1 transfer. Colours are representative of the West and the age of the film.

AQ : Full Mono, but good separation. Dialogue is very focused and clear at all times.

A must have or watch for Wild West Lovers done the old way.

For me, if just talking about movie and exclude AV like GGW series, I prefer SuicideGirl: Guide to Living over 9 Songs. tongue.gif whistling.gif

You got the bdp-80 right? You should be able to do a subtitle shit when the subtitle 'falls out of the screen'... on your remote, HOLD on to the substitle button for more than 3 seconds, then press the 'up' or 'down' button to adjust the subtitle to your liking. smile.gif

iirc, the US version of 9 Songs is not as explicit as the UK version, despite the boast on the cover "full uncut explicit version".

For those who don't want the nipple version of BDs, here is good news for you:

Sin City Blu-ray now only $15.99

Both at lowest price in www.blu-ray.com records. But I am not sure, for Godfather Collection, whether it is cheaper than last time Deal of the Day offer in Amazon US.

Well, if based on the graph from the price tracker at blu-ray.com, this is the cheapest Godfather Collection has been offered at.

Time to buy! whistling.gif
