QUOTE(MeToo @ Nov 3 2010, 10:01 AM)
A lot of Dell fan in this thread, but for me Dell's monitor, although might be good quality, the design is too old-style and "dull". I want something that looks good on my table, not some old square plastic box.

Samsung however, i lack faith in, you have to make sure you get a GOOD unit, that itself might be a real challenge...
*
well, not being a fan of any brand here, but personally i'll take panel quality+functionality over design any given day,Those U and P series monitors are designed with function over form in mind [large stand with tilt and swivel etc,usb ports].Besides,do you look at the screen or the bezel?

QUOTE(TechnoG @ Nov 3 2010, 10:57 AM)
uumm. More specified? which model for Samsung monitors?

and should I go for Dell Professional P2311H or Dell UltraSharp U2311H? both at the same price @ RM649.
*
the one in the amazon link you posted before.
i'd take the U2311H over the P2311H,if you use a TN panel for an eyefinity6 setup you'll run into problems with viewing angles .btw, you might want to look at the 2209WA,it has an even better panel quality than the U2311H.

QUOTE(MeToo @ Nov 3 2010, 03:35 PM)
Actually, can one just look at the screen and not look at the bezel/stand etc at all?

But I suppose everyone have different requirements, for me, I like something pleasant to look at. Just liek buying a car, the "look" of the car is a major consideration to many people, but when you are driving, do you even SEE the exterior of the car?

Added on November 3, 2010, 4:37 pm

Gotta agree Samsung QC have dropped significantly lately. Infact to the point i have personally banned them form all future purchase. My current monitor is made in Seremban.... took me 3 trips to the shop just to get a working unit...
*
well,i've had enough of LCDs with non adjustable stands [do they think all people have the same torso height??].It's a nightmare. If you wanna compare it to a car,my taste is for something that performs good for me,the outlook can be ultra simple for all i care, kinda like the VW Golf GTI thumbup.gif
Then again this is aesthetics,a subjective value which differs from person to person.

The current crop of AOC's Razor line of LCDs look dashing though, pity that they don't offer other panels/adjustable stands

Deciding between U2311H & ST2420L. Please suggest which to go for. And the ultrasharp version of 24" price is no longer found in dell website, U2410 anyone know the price for this before the price tag was taken off.
*
the U2410 was priced RM1699 last time iinm.
Between the U2311H and the ST2420L,it's a no brainer imo unless you need 24p playback/1:1 pixel scaling. What do you want to use LCD for actually? If it's for colour uniformity sensitive jobs then i suggest the 2209WA instead, this is because the panel uniformity for the U2311H is quite hit and miss. Some people have gotten them with tinting issues, while a majority didn't.

There's no need really, but it wouldn't hurt either way.I didn't install mine but there's a Windows Update driver for the LCD

it reali worth for that ??

Acer is cheaper but i duno wat is the pro and cons ...
*
it is THAT much better, the U2311H uses an 8bit panel which can display true 16.7million colours unlike 6bit TN in most LCDs below RM1000,the viewing angles are also much larger. The stand also has tilt, height and swivel function built in.

don't be fooled by the LED screen markteting,it is pretty much the same except for some power savings.Normal CCFL backlit LCDs use around 35w while LED backlit ones use 25w,the difference is just 10w
Assuimg the electricity tariff is RM0.3 per kW,you'll just save RM12 per year [12 hours usage per day].

QUOTE(nightshade_nova @ Nov 6 2010, 10:39 PM)
haha...I wont recommend dell u2311h, needs calibrating, cos iirc, every batch different, theres deviations, cant use ICC profile out of the box, not accurate
so, the full ips experience is not perfect like other factory calibrated monitors
but for the price, currently its the cheapest ips on the market. thumbup.gif

if mainly use for ps3, better get this

http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktop-...es/vx2260wm.htm

simply because the built in speaker is the best among most monitors in the range.( but still mediocre la compared to real speakers )
plug in hdmi cable, no need to worry about anything else, good for ps3 gaming.
*
compared to the higher end Ultrasharps,of course the U2311H isn't so good as it isn't factory calibrated. However compare that to other sub RM1k LCDs and they rock.Other have fake, too saturated colours which results in plasticky green plants, blue tinged babies etc.Compare that to the slightly opff U2311H and which turns out to be better?[The 2209WA is better but the res is too low]
QUOTE(MicroBio @ Nov 6 2010, 10:55 PM)
bro, how bout blu ray? any recommendations?
*
The Samsung BX230/LG E2350T perhaps
QUOTE(-kytz- @ Nov 6 2010, 11:43 PM)
I haven't been here in quite a while, but it still seems that U2311H is still THE monitor to buy biggrin.gif

Anyway, i saw that there's the new ST2420L iinm?
*
There's the new ST2420L,but reviews have shown it to be so-so only.
QUOTE(angah_as @ Nov 7 2010, 09:56 AM)
hi guys

just wan to ask all LYN pros opinion

my fren got LG 23” E2350T led lcd, last time he bought at ~RM670. for me, his lcd quality is superb and amazing. sangat2 puas hati la. now LG 23” E2350T price has drop to ~RM550. i wonder how an ips panel such as Dell U2311H quality look like bcoz i never see it real with my own eyes  blink.gif  .

-izzit Dell U2311H quality is  so MUCH OR jus a lil bit  different than LG 23” E2350T.

-izzit worth to spend RM100 more over Dell U2311H?   wink.gif
*
It is better in a way that the colours are more accurate,it's not oversaturated like the E2350T.You can compare the U2311H/U2211H to the LCD used in the imac 21.5".Thye are of the same level iinm

Added on November 7, 2010, 11:29 amTHen again some people don't like realistic colours, they like colours to not look the same as the real thing seen with their own eyes
For example,A likes the picture of a shrub he took to look greener in his LCD compared to the real one he seen

Guys, any review for AOC razor led....?
mainly for ps3, and some movie...

or any other option with +- RM500 budget...?

it looks nice, but the stand adjustments are poor.Other than that there's no reviews that i can find yet so i can't comment much

hey guys. Saw that a lot of forumers recommend Dell U2311H. 1 thing wanna ask is how's the reliability and durability of this monitor?

And someone mentioned need to calibrate. How do we calibrate? using software? Newbie here...
*
for proper calibration you need a physical calibrator, they cost a lot.So don't bother. You can always use softwares to help your eyes calibrate the LCD,but it won't be as good as a proper one

On a sidenote, have anyone seen someone offer LCD calibrationservice?Spending more than RM300 for a one off job is not good, but if someone can do it for around RM30 then i'll be glad to pay

thx racerx!

btw had u try to ask Dell if they provide such service?
*
i doubt that as for other Ultrasharp LCDs they factory calibrate it,and they don't even offer calibrationas an option for the U2311H.
i can buy one calibrator from amazon for around RM400+- and offer calibration service for RM20-30 but unfortunately i don't have the time nor transport to do it.

But just wondering if I'm having my own monitor calibration tools eg. Spyder express, will it change ? unsure.gif

the 2209WA has a better quality panel.it's better compared to the U2311H.Then again,i read at [H]ardforum that the newer REVA01 has no such problems anymore [or it has been reduced, mine is a REVA00 but i can't detect such things with my eyes].Still,if your needs are mission critical then take the 2209WA

One more thing, all LCDs that use the same panel as the U2311H [LG eIPS 23"] might have that problem.

Tested with 22 inch , it's all right for my eye but over 1440x900 resolution , all words is so small until cannot see , need to view very close to the lcd and it's bad to the eye too.

I remember there's a website on LCD review that show viewing angle of the LCD .

Anyone know that website ? unsure.gif

Which LCD can adjust the white color gray to yellowish ?
*
to each his own i guess....
anyway,to make your gray yellowish you should be able to do it by adjusting the colour temperature setting in your LCDs OSD,make the temp lower/set the colour mode to warm
