i think one of the main reasons of Vieri's departure was Inter had decided not to stick with an injury prone player. plus he was one of the most highly paid players at the club, so they didn't want to continue paying for nothing.

Gilardino race Inter-cepted

Just when the media believed that Alberto Gilardino was all set for his Milan move, Inter have intercepted by offering three players plus £15m cash.

The departure of Christian Vieri, who terminated his contract by mutual consent a year early, has freed up a space in the squad and Adriano could be reunited with his former Parma teammate Gilardino.

Ironically, it was Adriano's injury and January 2003 move to the San Siro that first launched Gilardino on the Serie A stage, as he went on to score 23 goals that term.

With Parma's take-over postponed or even scrapped indefinitely, the club is reportedly willing to lower his original £25m price-tag to £20m, a figure Milan are happy to pay in order to secure Italy's most promising young striker.

However, the 'Gazzetta dello Sport' this morning claims that Inter chief Massimo Moratti is ready to intercept the negotiations with a staggering new offer of his own. Parma would receive Domenico Morfeo - currently on loan at the Tardini - Giovanni Pasquale and Julio Cruz plus a £15m cash sum.

Solari poised to sign for Inter Milan

Real Madrid midfielder Santiago Solari is poised to sign a three-year deal with Inter Milan, Spanish sports daily Marca said on Tuesday.

The versatile Argentine, who agreed a new four-year contract with Real in January, will move for a nominal fee as a clause in his contract allowed him freedom to leave if he did not complete a set number of games with Real, Marca said.

Inter set on Pizarro

Inter have emerged as favourites in the race to sign Udinese playmaker David Pizarro, according to the Chilean's agent.

Pizarro has made no secret of his desire to leave Udine despite the prospect of Champions League football next season, and now Inter top the list of suitors.

Inter's interest stems from boss Roberto Mancini being a big fan of the midfielder. Mancini even tried to sign Pizarro whilst he was at Lazio, but to no avail.

Inter will be champions, says Veron

Juan Sebastian Veron has confidently predicted that Inter will be crowned Serie A champions next season.

On arriving at Inter's pre-season training camp in Sardinia, he confidently boasted: "The Coppa Italia was just the start, now Inter have to aim to win the League.

"It's about time Inter won the Scudetto and I am sure the time is right this season," he told sports daily Tuttosport.

"Winning the Coppa Italia was undoubtedly a great achievement, but now our objective is to carry on winning. We want the Scudetto."

Inter confirm Figo interest

Internazionale have confirmed their interest in signing Luis Figo.

The Italian giants were linked with a move for Figo earlier this week and now supremo Massimo Moratti has stated his desire to land the Real Madrid star - who was wanted by Liverpool.

"It's true what the newspapers have said this week," said Moratti.

"Figo is a player that everyone likes but it depends on how he can fit into the mechanism of the squad and how much space he can get.

A Mystery Called Dalmat Opts For Liga Adventure

One of Inter's biggest enigmas of the past ten years, Stephan Dalmat, has decided to start anew in La Liga.

Dalmat, who played on loan at Toulouse last season, signed a four year deal with Racing Santander on Wednesday.

The terms of the deal between the Spanish outfit and Inter are still unknown.

"Dalmat is our first galactico," Racing's president was quoted as saying after the successful conclusion to the deal.

When the Frenchman joined Inter at the start of the decade, he arrived with the prospect of being the 'next Zidane', however after a positive first season, the great expectations turned to a flurry of let-downs, a trend he has failed to revert in the past three years that included a stint at Tottenham.

Ronaldo wants Inter, admits Solari

Real Madrid ace Ronaldo would openly accept a return to Inter, says new Nerazzurri signing Santiago Solari.

The winger left the Spanish giants last week after receiving a glowing reference from the Brazilian forward.

"Ronaldo told me about the atmosphere here and said that I would fit in well," the Argentine stated. "He even added that he would happily return!"

This is not the first time that Ronaldo has been associated with a move back to Inter following his exit in 2002.

Goal.com Exclusive: Samuel And Figo To Join Inter By End Of Week

Peppino Tirri, the FIFA agent that is acting as mediator between European giants Inter and Real Madrid, confirmed to Goal.com that both Samuel and Figo will join the Nerazzurri by the end of the week.

"I heard about a return of Ronaldo to Inter, with Adriano going to Real. This news makes me laugh. The only names coming out of the talks between Inter and Real are those of Figo and Samuel," said Tirri.

The FIFA agent also provided the time-span he believes it will take for all matters to be done and dusted.

"The talks are very advanced. By Tuesday or Wednesday both players will vest the Inter jersey. Real were holding back because they were looking for replacements. But Samuel and Figo will soon be Inter's," he explained.

Figo is expected to join the Nerazzurri on a two-year contract worth around 3.5/4 million Euros per season.

Argentine defender Samuel is instead expected to arrive at Moratti's court on a one-year loan.

Inter is really giving their fans lot of good news lately... here's another 1 !

Ballack to the future

Inter have reportedly convinced Michael Ballack to leave Bayern Munich for the San Siro outfit in the summer of 2006.

The German international will be a free agent next July and he has already hinted that he is looking for a new club.

"I am very happy here but I think the time has arrived for me to try playing for a great European club," he recently stated. "It is a question of stimulus."

Stories in the peninsula on Monday morning claim that the Nerazzurri have already struck a deal with the central midfielder.

Di Vaio opens Inter door

Valencia striker Marco Di Vaio says he is finally ready to join Inter after almost signing for them on two previous occasions in the past.

Inter boss Roberto Mancini has openly spoken of his admiration for Di Vaio as the Nerazzurri look to replace Christian Vieri, following his Milan move, in their squad.

"I've heard what Mancini has said and I'm flattered," the Lazio youth team product told the Corriere dello Sport newspaper.

"I'm really proud of his esteem for me and have already nearly joined Inter in the past. (Fomer Inter tactician Hector) Cuper wanted me but I then went to Juventus.

Coco Set For Ajax Switch

According to Italian media reports, Inter Milan's Francesco Coco is set to join Ajax. Press reports state that Coco has left Inter's preseason training to travel to the Netherlands in order to sign for the Dutch giants.

If the transfer is finalized then Coco would have resisted interest from other clubs especially Bolton and Everton in England and Olympiakos in Greece.

The 28-year-old defender is a player that has never quite fulfilled his vast potential. In fairness, injuries have dealt a severe blow to his career. In fact, the left-sided back has barely played in the last two years because of long-injury lay-offs.

Coco has been at Inter for three seasons. In 2002 he was dealt to the club by AC Milan in an exchange for Clarence Seedorf. Coco never quite settled at Milan, the Rossoneri loaned him to three different clubs, Vicenza, Torino, and Barcelona.

With Ajax defender Maxwell injured and on the way out at the end of the season, Coco could be a natural replacement on the left side for the Dutch club.

what a pity. He's one of my fav player some years ago, n suppose to be the natural successor for Maldini.
