1+1 HDBs have not been built for many years. Most of the ones in existence now are owned by HDB and rented to needy Singaporeans.

Lots of 1+1 condos for rent... but nothing below S$1K though.

HDB rentals now are around 1.3-1.5K for 2+1. Either you spend the additional few hundred bucks, or you share with someone to keep your individual spending below 1K.

Otherwise, you have to go for a room, instead of a flat.

can u recommend a few places i should chk out to rent a decent room? my workplace is around the industrial area near thompson rd

If you're willing to spend up to 1K, you should be able to get a HDB master bedroom quite easily. Might even get one in a condo, especially if it's not near a MRT stn. Around Thomson Rd, I would go for Marymount, Novena, Toa Payoh or Bishan. My pick will be Bishan.

If my internet download speed is fast enough to stream I'll not watch outside..
I'm using starhub iphone plan, data is 12GB, although my network is in 3.5G but I have problem to stream! starhub really lousy! wtf..

I have the same Starhub mobile plan as you do. Yeah, I find the network connection to be crap as well. Even when you're just surfing web pages, every new page or refresh you click... it takes a few seconds before the data counter starts to move. It's almost as if the active connection needs to 'reconnect' every time you do something.

uh....it might seem cheap to u, but not for a freshie who hasn't started working in singapore like me. one month deposit+one month advanced rental+half rental, for a room $400 that is rm2k already

Hello... your personal situation is not relevant lah. It's normal business practice.

That's like saying your salary should be based on what your expenses are, instead of your skills and experience.

If you really can't afford the agents' fee, then don't use an agent. Work harder to search for flats direct from the owner / main tenant.

For my job, apparently I will be bonded for 2 years, so I guess should I cabut early, the company needs to take action and can do so against a local citizen who became my guarantor.

Just say that you don't know anybody in Singapore, much less someone who will be willing to be your personal guarantor.

If they retract the job offer,.. my personal opinion is that you're better off working for another company. Simple fact of the matter is that if they pay their employees competitively and treat them fairly, why would they need to bond someone?

I want to ask if anybody got their tax assessment for the Year 2010 ? I m asked to pay like 500 bucks so is that suppose to be the normal rate for PR ?. Anyway whats the tax rate like for foreigners and PR ?

The final assessments for Year of Assessment 2010 (ie. calendar year 2009) should be coming out now from the tax dept.

Tax rates are progressive lah. The more you earn, the more tax brackets you reach. And hence pay a higher effective/average tax rate.

You either get taxed as a tax resident or tax non-resident... you immigration status is irrelevant. IIRC, if you were in Singapore 182 days or more during the year, you get taxed as a tax resident.

A tax payable of $500 is damn good. Barely paying any tax at all.

I just rented a room 4 days ago, with quite a nasty owner
Living with a pair of old retired couple, stays at home 24/7 and watch me do everything
Bathe only 2 times allowed, washing machine(manual kind) use twice a week maximum 4 pairs, not allowed to hang my clothes when I'm out, i need to be in to wait for my clothes to dry to collect them, must let them know what time I return home, and where I go etc etc...
Really regret for making such a rush decision and paid so much for agent fee!
I think sooner or later I might lose my professionalism and throw temper, haha

Plan to move out in 3 months time! haha, better not stay with owner imo.
Property prices in Sg is really, sigh. Weekend crowd in shopping mall, sigh. Lol.

wow that's mean u need to have SGD 10K in order to rent a SGD2K decent apartment .

Yes. That is how much salary you must make to rent an apartment here.

You also need CPF and IRB to certify your salary, and an approval from your employer to spend your salary on the rental. That's also a must ie. the law.

what will be the cheapest hdb flat if renting the whole unit?

Good... you seem to have realised what the right question to ask, is.

Current market... I would say about S$1000-1200 for a 2 bedroom flat, low floor, far from MRT and far from town.

Survive means don't die, right?

You can don't die with a lot less than 1.5K.

both of them are usually the ones who are the proxy shareholders for subsidaries... but those other subsidaries are in reputable countries... now the problem arises when one of the upcoming subsidary will be in a us sanctioned country and we dont want people to know that as it might affect the main company.

If you're the shareholder, who else are shareholder(s)? And who are the directors?

If all the current directors and material shareholders of the company being listed are not going to hold any shares or directorships in the US sanctioned company in order to avoid SGX and listing prospectus disclosure, then how is the company being listed going to control the new company? What's stopping you, as the shareholder, from winding up the company and taking out all the net assets and retained profit?

What will be the salary range for accounting professional in singapore (probably in the area of Internal audit)?

The basic salary range of the most junior graduate employee in my company S$2.5-3.6K. The basic salary range of our most senior finance person in Singapore is S$25K-37K. He also gets S$4K monthly car allowance. So, depending on your job level and type of company, the range is therefore 2.5K-41K... as far as I know.
