QUOTE(Aloong @ Sep 27 2010, 10:27 PM)
I would like to enquire about singing up with singtel mobile services - post paid.

According to its website:

"Documents Required

If you are a Foreigner:
Employment Pass/Work Permit/Social or Dependent Pass with at least 6 months validity to date of expiry; and
Purchase Agreement/Tenancy Letter (with proof of more than 6mths occupancy); and
Passport"

So if i'm a foreigner, and i wana sign up for a post paid plan, i need to produce all EP, Paasport and tenancy agreement (with proof of more than 6mths occupancy).

1. Does that mean i nid to already stayed in the house for more than 6mths? or > 6mths to expiry? So if i just came over for a week, can i apply?
are you sure they will ask for the tenancy letter? i apply mine through starhub, they didn't ask. i applied M1 mobile broadband last time, they also din ask.

2.  If i haven't collected my EP, can I apply?
no u can't. i have tried to ask last time. they need to photocopy the physical EP to process ur application. i asked Singtel before last time.

3. If i'm using prepaid, do they have a data plan? can't seems to find it.
never heard of it

Thanks.

Why? Did your landlord raise your rental?
*
nola, my landlord sold his house. and they will only get their new house end of December. We have to move out by 15th Nov. they were only charging me $400 now. because the landlord's brother in law is staying in the same house as well, he surveyed for room and the cheapest he can find is $750. So i also feel a bit pai seh paying only $400 for the whole room everything in including internet. My landlord actually ask me to find a place temporary for 1 month until they get their new house, then i can move back in. My aunty say she is ok to let me stay there 1 month. But i feel paiseh la. paying so low de rental to them. Mayb stay in JB will be better? since the rental is cheaper and my work place is in AMK. not very far from causeway.

Can you rent a room in JB without signing a lease agreement aka. 1 month?
*
so far, all the rooms i rent, no mater in KL or Singapore doesn't need to make any agreement or stuff like that. just verbal confirmation 1.
because most of the time, i deal directly with the owner and didn't go through any agent. But of course, most of the time i am renting from someone i know. either my friend's relative (my current landlord) or my mom's childhood friend. But frankly speaking, i am staying very comfortably with my current landlord. still very undecided at the moment.

Lets say i bought a Malaysian bike and stay in JB, can i ride my bike in after paying the $4 or i need to have a Singapore driving license in order to ride the bike in because i am holding an EP. anyone can clarify this for me please? I have a valid MY driving license of coz.

Riding bike from JB to SG is very very tired.. imagine every morning there are 50,000 bikes crossing the causeway.
It is bad for health too.. as the smoke from the bike generated by 50K bikes..
*
u didn't answer my question sad.gif , i know its bad for health but i am used to it already last time when i am in KL. Last time i used to Jam all the way along KL - Seremban highway from Serdang to my office. so i guess no big deal for me.

Yes you can ride you bike in after paying $4 using your Malaysian License but only for 1 year from your EP starting date. After 1 year you have to convert your license by taking the basic theory test in the driving centre in singapore.

License conversion you need to get a letter from JPJ for your driving records. You just tell them you wanna apply for foreign driving license (Singapore). I just get the letter recently (1 month ago), they didn't take my Malaysian license like what they did previously.

Only thing you have to check with them is how long can your bike stay in Singapore. If for car, maximum the car can stay in Singapore is not more than 14 days. Before the 14th day, you will have to return to JB and pusing balik to get a new 14 days count. But if you go in and out everyday this is not an issue.
*
dammit, my EP is gonna be 1 year from the 16 Nov and i plan to move to JB on the 15th. means i still needs to get a Singapore license if i wanna ride a bike in coz i plan to buy a Malaysian bike in JB and ride it in. Don't like those Singapore bike coz Modernas Elegant is my dream bike and its not available in SG.

No kopi money, right?

If you don't mind sharing, which JPJ branch did you get it from? I hope it's the same at Ipoh branch. I'll try again my next trip back. Previous tries, they always insisted on blacklisting my Malaysian license unless I umm... distract their attention with kopi.

Added on October 30, 2010, 11:26 amGet a big bike in Singapore lah. BMW, Ducatis, Harleys... all fairly reasonable in SG and the best is that you can park it in public without being afraid that it'll be jacked.
*
I will be staying in JB. if buy those expensive bike, i scare that after 1 - 2 weeks, the bike is gone. And buying a bike in SG cannot get loan la. buy in Malaysia i can get loan tongue.gif. now very poor leh, that's why need to move to SG biggrin.gif

I think you can get loans for big bikes. For kapcais and Passolas, you might be right.

nola, i can't coz i am not a PR and my annual income does not not hit $60k a year. so not qualified for loans.

Does that mean that when you need to renew your Msian driving license later on there won't be any issue, seeing that they actually took copies of IC and driving license? I always thought the standard practice by JPJ is to always cut the tip of the license off, no?

Upon passing the basic theory test, would it be necessary for us to further take a practical test or we would be able to get a full driving license straight?

Thanks
*
regarding the test, izzit hard? if we don't study their undang but we always take bus, is our general knowledge good enough for us to pass? and will there be any fee involve to take the test?

you can ride your Malaysian bike using your Malaysia license all you like, as long you are not PR or Singaporean. There is no such thing as 1 year restriction for EP. Just pay the VEP daily.
you CAN'T ride Malaysian bike in Sg using SG license but you can ride Malaysian bike in Malaysia using Sg license.  tongue.gif
*
thanks for your clarification, that's what i though as well since it didn't state anything about that in the LTA website. But we need to install the ERP machine on our Malaysian bike to go in to Singapore rite? so the VEP thing is deducted from the ERP card am i right?

You can try propertyguru.com.sg
That's how I found mine.

FYI, I got mine with aircon for 550 per month. You might be able to get by with less than 500.
*
i tried to surveyed the area that i want (Ang Mo Kio, Yishun, Sembawang, Woodlands), all this area the rental are at least $500 exclude PUB. really super expensive.
