yeah, i mean in gelang patah..

there is short cut... the Highway.. connected to the perling highway, that is the only short cut, 30 minutes to the JB.

Amenities, nearest will be Bukit Indah, about 10-15 minutes drive, Tesco, Jusco, Giant.. everything is there...

there is public transport to get around gelang patah to bukit indah or to jb or even TUTA.

If u dont mind driving around, just stay at GP smile.gif recommended
*
this fellow everyday also recommend Gelang Patah.... make me also feeling like wanna shift there liao.... mayb after 3-4 years, i might consider moving there tongue.gif

By "everyone else", you mean East Malaysians as well?

Yes, because when Malaysia and Singapore was 1 country back then and Sabah and Sarawak have not gain independence, so East Malaysian are not affected.

Arrggh.. .wtf...

Today i go collect my iPhone reservation 32GB, encounter so much problem

No more stock on 32GB, been offered 16GB, which is fine...

and then, been informed the corporate rate... and for corporate, i will need not to pay the registration fee and the micro sim fee...

and then, problem started, because i am using S-Pass, i need to pay $363 for the phone! for  iPhone Lite Plan, which monthly $56 ( not corporate price )

I was been told, iPhone Lite plan $56 or iPhone Extreme $98, both same, have to pay fixed price, $363~ that Cs told me all carrier is the same, even if i go to other carrier like singtel or starhub.. she even told, S-Pass is special pass, that's why got "special" price... wtf...~~~

i was so furious, was never been told...

That customer service at the center told, if i was using work permit, then i have to pay $800 deposit ? wtf...

Now i regret never ask my company to rectify and change to EP.... arrgh...

to make my dissappointment, i travel to Singtel ComCentre, i double check, triple check, no need pay any other fee, even thought am S-Pass... just need to pay for the registration fee and the micro sim card fee, and the phone itself for the plan i want..~ in the end.. make a reservation with singtel.. ( have to wait again sad.gif )

sigh....
*
no wonder i 4:30pm tot wan call u cabut together u already hilang, rupanya go take iPhone 4. for your info, I am also holding S pass. i got my 3GS from Starhub without paying any registration fees. Only need to pay the $98 for the phone. everything should be waive under our corporate plan. And for those who are holding WP, i last time kepo kepo abit go ask the sales staff la. they say if holding WP, need to pay $200 deposit only. where got $800. i think that girl bullshit u only mayb got too many cust. so lazy serve u.

try read the first page, there are a lists of website tat u can use to search for a room
*
frankly speaking, those website is not very helpful. the best way is look on the bus stop around the area u are looking for. they are heaps of advertisement there and u can find some that deal with owner directly yo save the 1/2 month agent fees.

then which bank account i should open when i start to work in singapore??

BTW i hv maybank and CIMB bank account in malaysia..
*
DBS/POSB is like maybank in Singapore, they got the most ATM and can do most things in Singapore via NETS.
but even they have the most ATM in Singapore (3 machine on most MRT station). the queue is also the longest.
you can try UOB or OCBC. but if u want foreign bank. Citibank has the most ATM (I am using this after getting fed up with queue on DBS ATM).

to all seniors in that is working in SG now,
wanted to try apply for SG job last year but had to postpone my plan because of the recession...

may i know how is the IT job in SG currently? (working environment, alot company hiring IT?) i'm more on support and system administration...

thank you very much... notworthy.gif
*
last year and beginning of this year my company is aggressively hiring people. but they slow down a little this year. my company ranks no 1 in the employer of choice survey for Singapore grad. you can still try to apply but not sure what IT field you are interested in. my company in Singapore is more towards call center type of job. if you are looking for those sitting in office and support end user type, i don't think its suitable for you. there is a lot of company hiring as i still receive a lot of calls from head hunters but all are call center jobs. Mayb is due to the experience i have in this field.

hi folks,

I'm currently using M1 prepaid, but not really satisfy what i expect.

1. can i convert to other server provider (singtel, starhub) postpaid plan but retain my current prepaid phone number?

2. If not, m1 prepaid able to convert to itself postpaid plan?

Thank you.
p/s: To those who're new to singapore and intend to open a bank account, i do recommend DBS/POSB/UOB/OCBC only especially you're keen to use internet banking often.  >>>My personal experience & thought. rclxub.gif
*
1. No, not possible, pre-paid and postpaid is different thing and u can't carry a prepaid number to postpaid. not sure about prepaid to prepaid though.
2. same answer above.

to me, Citibank online banking is not bad too. they have SMS alert for me which i think its good. everytime someone transfer money to my account, they will SMS me.

No, it wont help.

I have shown my MYKAD and said I am a Malaysian to the petrol kiosk worker and he refused oso. Terrible.

In the end, I have to pump Shell V-Power for me to drive back from KL to SG.
*
You should scold the petrol kiosk worker. Its already on newspaper that Malaysian can pump RON 95 if u show ur MYKAD.

Hi, I am a 4th year engineering student who will be having my industrial training soon and graduation upon completion of my training. I am taking Electronics Engineering and would like to seek for an internship opportunity in Singapore. Anyone here have contact or recommendation for me?

Bump, anyone can help me? ^.^
*
why you wanna do ur intern in SG? are you a Singaporean? Do you know if you are a Malaysian, the % that you will be taken in is near to 0%.
Why would an employer take you in for intern and he have to go through the hastle to make a WP for you, pay for the medical check and those levy involve.

why not just finish ur studies then only think of moving to Singapore like most of us. shakehead.gif

the best way to get a cheap and nice room is use ur friend's network. Don't you have any friends or relative in Singapore? I am sure if you rent from a friend's relative or your relative's friend, you can get cheaper than market rate room.

Just like mine. Common room in Sembawang, All in fees only $400 monthly. i got a 10mb Singtel line to use also. somemore my friend's aunty will clean my room for me.

Its actually a win-win situation for both owner and tenant. When you were referred by your friend to his relative, it means that your are a good tenant so the owner wouldn't have to worry that they will get a bad tenant and as a tenant, you don't have to worry that the owner is fussy bcoz definitely the owner will give face to your friend not to make life difficult for you. Most importantly, both of you can safe on agent fees.

What duty free goods are worth buying there? In KLIA or Changi?
*
In Changi, I buy cigarettes. Its freaking cheap $23 1 carton and the cigarettes don't have the ugly picture unlike those u buy outside. Outside is selling $13.60 (Dunhill Fine Cut)1 packet in SG and selling RM11.50 in Malaysia. So i just buy and distribute to all my friends when we go Sing K or mamak drink tea.

Duty free? Oh, how much does it cost to go back KL? How long is the flight? Are the tickets sold out fast?
*
most of the time i will be flying around $30-$40 for the air ticket. just book around 2 weeks in advance than can edi. But if expensive period also around $60-70 only. I don't go back that often, now i wait Jetstar promo i only go back. I am a fat guy so if sit Airasia, not comfortable. Tiger got more legroom but still not comfortable. Still Jetstar is the best but around $4-5 more expensive. But Jetstar we can pay with the SAM machine to save the $6 admin fees. So still Jetstar better.

there's really a shortage of stocks for iPad at apple premium reseller. it's better to order thru apple store online. I did that and got mine in under 2 weeks. delivery also free but I think you will need a Singapore issued credit card and Singapore address.
*
i am planning to do so, but can they get GST refund if we order from the Apple online store?
