Went to see Mitsubishi today for the CKD ASX.
VERY WELL spec'ed car for its price. The REP price is around 94k OTR for 4WD and 83k OTR for the 2WD.
Go for the 4WD since it is far superior with push start, moon roof, traction control and more.

And the best thing is, they already have a division that handles tax-free cars, which makes car delivery super fast.

It really depends. once you logged in the SMPC system it usually take about 4-6 weeks for my case (one is 4 one is 6) but currently the SMPC system is down so I am not sure how you are going to check... I did submit my first car application myself with the help of the sales agent providing the information.

hi everyone,

Need advice urgently...

Bought my Toyota CKD car 2 years ago under REP, & after 2 year, I'm relocating again, thus need to sell my car.

I called my toyota agent last week, he told me that I'm have to pay for the tax when I sell my car. And I hv to go to the custom office to get this car tax calculated.
Now, this got me confused because all these while from the REP official website, this is the answer given:

Extracted from REP - FAQ
"If I use my car for more than 2 years, I can sell it after that and will not have to pay any taxes. If this is the case, will the buyer have to pay the taxes? Is it true that no tax and duty will be imposed if the car is old after 5 years?

Once you have purchased your two (2) CKD vehicles tax-free, you must have them in possession for a minimum period of two (2) years before you are allowed to sell them off to a third party. The third party will be responsible to pay to the Government any taxes payable incurred on the CKD vehicles based on tax-written- down-value/market value. Vehicles cannot be sold or its ownership transferred (penukaran hak milik) without paying excise duty and sales tax calculated by the Royal Malaysian Customs during the sale or ownership transfer. There will be taxes paid at any time the car is sold."

Isn't this contradicting with the FAQ from REP? Or is my misinterpreation of their FAQ statement?

Any sharing?

Or recommendation to any experienced car dealer in KL who can handle "so called tax-free" CKD car?

Thanks in advance.

from the FAW, it appears that the tax still needs to be paid. hence you need to get the current tax value for the car and add it into your final selling value. the tax still need to be paid by the buyer/third party as they dont have the tax free allowance. so in the end, transfer of ownership = the other owner needs to pay the current value tax. so it is indifferent than selling a normal car (with tax).

Hi..

For tax exempted car, owner will need to pay the balance tax before selling the car.

For Innova 2.0G auto year 2012 , tax need to pay back to custom department is around 12k +-.

If u sell off the car to others at RM70k, then after paid tax,
U can get back RM58k.

Feel free to call me @ 012-2732710 Daniel.

We do take in tax exempted car like mm2h and REP.

Thanks

unfortunately you need to enquire the car dealers one by one as there are no definitive list of price for CKD car. the price list above is quite complete.

If you want a (not so updated) article of CKD cars in Malaysia, you can check out this Autoworld article

They used to publish the price on the net but not anymore.

It could be around 100-11xk for 2.0 and 2.0VTI and around 130-140k for 2.4 if i recall correctly.

chizzu, TQVM!

I think most of us having problem of finding retailers/sales agents who have experienced in dealing with PAKAR/REP/MM2H. Just my suggestion. If there is a list of experienced retailers/sales agents for reference, it would be easy for all of us! Just my suggestion.
