QUOTE(CHiNO730 @ Nov 12 2010, 09:40 AM) Didn't like the Suunto? Here's another one of my contributions to the affordable watch thread: awesome looking watch....and at a great price...![]() ![]() Seiko 7S35 Automatic Dress Watch w/Leather Strap A friend of mine in the states recommended I purchase from "Wayne's Watch World" at www.roachman.com in 2005. I had planned a trip to Malaysia prior to this, and later learned that this guy deals out of a watch store in Penang. So during my trip to Malaysia I was able to inspect it and pick it up at the store. At the time, of course, I did not know that I would be living on that beautiful island. I also did not know that some thief would break into my home, including the lock on my room door, and steal my watch among other things. The automatic movement was just "okay" and as good as expected for RM ~700. The counterweight/rotor did not spin as freely as the ones in ETA/Valjoux movements. Quality and detail is fairly good - I might consider buying another one. Of all the well known mainstream brands, Seiko is one of my favorites. Great price for style, brand recognition, quality and ease of service. Yes inexpensive so many people own one, but they have a huge selection of styles. Very elegant dress watch for nice occasions or even everyday wear. Many people think that it costs more than twice as much as what I paid. Seiko uses Hardlex instead of Sapphire Crystal. Exhibition caseback with 23 jewels and 21,600 bph. Cheers! |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Nov 14 2010, 06:46 AM) that is not spring drive. So Ananta Spring drive are not mass production model? http://www.seikowatches.com/products/ananta/double_r_c.html anyway, those Ananta are kinda mass produce for international market. the finishes are not as good as Grand Seiko or Credor. I don't like the ananta moon phase watch design. I like a classic GCLL997 http://www.credor.com/lineup/node/reference/gcll997.html ![]() And i'm curious where to get Ananta...coz it's quite difficult to find... |

QUOTE(evilnickwong @ Nov 16 2010, 12:36 AM) I'm pondering the same thing as some of them have brand new watches at even better prices than the online shops. I bought a US$75 G-shock and a US$600 seiko from ebay..I guess if they have a 98+% rating it's less dubious lol. don't have to worry much as long as you get it from a seller with high rating and has done thousand of sales... if anything goes wrong, lodge a dispute with paypal/ebay... |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Nov 16 2010, 02:23 AM) ML do not have many inhouse movement. They are like Chronoswiss using vintage movement and making big improvements on it True...like for seiko, gray market watches doesn't come with original boxes, papers, tags..some doesn't even come with boxes... Added on November 16, 2010, 2:25 am not 100% of course, so long it is not a AD that always raise a few question. do your research well and u'll be rewarded. not sure about others...so need to really sure what to look for to spot the difference between fake and authentic ones... More efforts are put to produce replica swiss watches.... This post has been edited by highwind85: Nov 16 2010, 07:32 AM |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Nov 16 2010, 08:02 AM) anything can be fake nowadays...from cheap seiko 5, to seiko divers to seiko premier and kinetic models..the important thing is know how to spot them.. http://quartzimodo.com/how-to-spot-a-fake-seiko-watch/ this is a very good article on how to spot a fake seiko http://quartzimodo.com/is-it-safe-buying-a...rt-seller-here/ another article about online purchase from ebay sellers.. although ebay will ban sellers caught selling replicas, it's impossible for ebay to screen them all...and there's no way to prevent them to open another dupe account...so need to extra careful.. QUOTE(patryn33 @ Nov 16 2010, 11:31 AM) today ppl are smart at posting replicas on ebay. yup..there's no definition for "Made in Japan"..when they are from the far east of developing countries be extra careful, thats plain common sense. when seller ask U to wire, of course stay away. God knows they have buddy or clones in the forums/ebay that leave them good reviews. blogger I think is Local or from the southeast asia. with Seiko movement make in Asia (outside japan) one may get very badly QC rejected item. or a poorly made Seiko movement in a fake case. so when ppl say Seiko is 100% inhouse, issue is 100% inhouse does not always translate to 100% made in Japan. I didn't see a Japan rule on what to takes to state "made in Japan", same rule as swiss? thats a grey area. The "Made in Japan" label means probably some parts are made in Japan and that's all...no mention of how many percent of the watch as a whole made in japan or probably just assembled in japan...and that is to fulfil certain countries' regulation such as the US that requires the origin of the product stated.. certain markets you'll see it labelled as "Malaysia Movt" or "Singapore Movt".. |

QUOTE(malayneum @ Nov 18 2010, 09:50 PM) can someone recommend me a men watch for around RM400. prefer with the "sweeping" seconds hand. if possible with lowest depreciation value. Seiko 5, Orient, Casio....obviously it's going to depreciate...with watches at this price, it better to buy new one if you choose to sell it later without much loss... |
