where can i find 24 hour watches? where the hour hand only spins 1 round a day and not 2 as normal dials

I think you found 1 already. The AD, hour glass in this case should have that.
is that not the right watch? or its not in your working budget?

online many fakes?
there are many real too, depends where U get it. i got alot of my watches online. In fact some online store today don't even send U the goods, no need to fake anything in the 1st place.

some brands only can get thru online and no fake there. eg AirNautic watch company ( http://www.airnauticwatchco.com/) , Guinand, http://www.ocean7watchco.com/

other brands such as Alpha, trias no worries.. no one wanna fake them.. they are made in china already.
russian watches, Poljot, Buran also no fakes.. no demand out there, not worth faking them.

btw I did mention a non online retailer- The Hour Glass, fyi Glycine is Hour Glass house brand, and they carry Breitling too

i want a 24hour watch budget ~ not more than 200usd, unless its really worth it, will go double. coz from what i see, normally it wont cost more than that unless really good brands
*
swiss made auto.. < 200 usd not possible.
german made with swiss heart < 200 usd also not possible even its online brand.

< 400 usd not sure if U can find a swiss mechanical.. quartz maybe
Jap or Chinese more likely

at prices under 400usd which brands did U find fake?

russian.. hmm redarmy do have a branch in KL but prices are high
http://www.redarmywatches.com/collection_b...3&cat=3&brand=4
http://www.russia2all.com/aviator-poljot-v..._1375636-m.html

so which are the brands U know of thats under 200 usd?

actully many are under the 200 n 400usd mark... such as raketa, vostok, poljot, etc.....all the russian watches.. i know that coz i'm in russia now..lol...but i 'm having a hard time finding one... thats y rather fly back home msia find one..
due to the increase in popularity of these watches, many of them are making cetak rompaks... it say 24h, dial shows 24h , but the hour hand spins 2 times ard the dial per day...zzz
*
can U get a good deal on Russian watches? my in-law was in Moscow and it was more expensive then ordering online and paying for shipping!
vostok and poljot make good watches. it would be hard to find a wide range of Russian watches here in Msia. u may end up paying more at redarmy than in Russia.

I didn't know they are popular in Russia but the hour hand isn't working as it supposed to. I don't think reputable Russian brands such as Poljot and Votosk are doing that.

try
- Longines Conquest (auto) L36554566
- Longines Hydroconquest (quartz) L36404566
- Longines Hydroconquest chrono (quartz) L36504566

maurice laucroix not sure if U can get that with that budget these days prices are higher even Pontos.

EUR$1k budget go with a nicely made mechanical. this budget only can with with ETA movements. depending on how much U pay U may get some work done on it. decorated and regulated well.

since U are in Europe.. there are brands such as Guinand that is value for money. they had worked behind the scene making watches from big brands in the past
a Series 40/41 auto Chrono just under EUR$1K, well made with nice decorations
in fact getting a series 20 only cost under EUR$800
http://guinand-watch.com/index.php?option=...d=63&Itemid=181

Stowa - lots of watches under 1K too.
http://stowa.de/shop/cgi-bin/lshop.cgi?ls=e

with 1k budget can get 2 watches from German brand Archimede! nice watches, movement not decorated however at such price can't expect that!

Yeah u r rite. Plenty of fake Poljot and Vostok running around, not only online but now in KL as well.
There was a time when only luxury brands were counterfeited but these days anything goes, even fake Swatch watches are every where.

My friend bought a Junkers online. It came with a Junkers box, certificate of authenticity, etc. Only recently found out that it was a fake when he went to get a new strap.  rclxub.gif
fake Junkers! thats news.. how did he found out its fake? open the case? can share the site he got it from? maybe its good to compile a list of place to let ppl know which are the sites to stay away like plague!

anyway there are always ppl who claim they disscover they found a fake like your friend did but after further inquiry on QUS/Timezone etc its the real thing. kinda some ppl complain about a fake invicta as it has chinese movement. well, real invicta have series that are MIC.

Poljot and Vostok fake? seen ppl asking on WUS seem like those get on ebay got tricked.
Not seen any on the street here. did know KL also have ppl selling these fakes russian and swatch. btw are they good AAA fake?
http://www.russianwatchguide.com/counterfeit-watches.htm

i do agree with U, U always need to do some level of research when u getting online. if they ship from Asia forget about it, or website no address, no tel number etc super shady. China even have fake toilet paper.

according to WUS stay away from sky.net and timetotime.com for sure

within 1k euro you can get decent brands such as longines, tag, maurice, ball etc. the newly redesigned aqua racer is around 4000 after discount. longines much cheaper at 2.5k and maurice at 4900 after discount.
*
1k euro ~rm4k
ball would that be very entry level? such as the below.
http://www.ballwatchusa.com/collections/FiremanIILJBKGR.asp

tag aquaracer quartz WAB1110.BA0800? would be be alittle over 4k after discount.

bro, you have mentioned ETA few times ... i wonder what standard is that.

what about those luxury watches , are they using this ETA too ?
*
brands such as Rolex, JLC, PP, VC, AP do not use ETA movement.
JLC, Rolex, Zenith, roger Dubis, FM etc are is solely inhouse
PP, VC, AP used to base on some other manufacture (eg FRÉDÉRIC PIGUET ) but today they mostly in house.
lower end IWC, jeanRichard are base on ETA higher end are inhouse.
Panerai used to base on ETA, they do heavily mod those movement up to >50% today mostly inhouse.
Swatch group brands like Longines, Omega leverage on ETA used them to make their movement and mod them to their specifications.

Sinn although use ETA movement they do invest on other tech.. like the Diapal escapement. which is kinda a big deal.

ML/Chronoswiss use alot of Vintage watch movements such as Enicar, A. Schild

Tag Heuer quartz useds mainly ETA. lower end auto are ETA base, higher end Zenith EL PRIMERO, the new Caliber 1887 is based on Seiko 6S37. some argue also its base on Seiko's design inhouse with some mod so its inhouse movement. if thats the case brans such as Union Glashütte also got rights to make ETA in Glashütte, germany but ppl wouldn't consider them inhouse at all.

ball watch use a mix of unmod ETA and sellita movement.
some brands like Louis Erard used both ETA and Soprod movements.

brands such a Nomos, dornblueth complete inhouse although U can trace the origin to Unitas (now part of ETA).

Selitta make ETA clones. since the patent on some movement are over.
Claro based their movements on Chinese company Seagull. few company used that, so far I know Swiss legend.

He bought it off ebay. He went to RedArmy to get a new strap. According to RedArmy 1) they don't recognize that model. 2) it's a GMT but GMTs don't have words printed on the dial 3) the word on the dial says AUTOMATIC. Junkers spell it with a K as in AUTOMATIK.
well, u got to be extra careful buying on ebay. even a watchmaker can get tricked at time.
on ebay 1 base rule to follow, "if it too good to be true, say away from it'

*
"The Watches part 2 (affordable watches), poor/rich men watch thread or watch deal"
this title still misleading? for a rich men even 10B watch also very affordable.

controversy here, MOD can change it. there is another thread in hobbies. u can participate there.

What do you guys think about the Calibre S movement by TAG Heuer.

The watch look very very nice was thinking of getting a casual watch since I have one which is formal.

I read an article that B&R Cost about 3K USD, but the movement for the watch is less then 500 USD, they were bashing them real hard.
*
Calibre S is a quartz. a cool video on it. retail at ~8.5k
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/651614/tag_h...acer_calibre_s/

B&R cost ~US3K after discount, movement maybe ~us$300. B&R is a good case maker and they have ppl that spend the time and regulate the watch. more importantly u are paying for the brand.

I am confuse, which watch maker is the best for the money.

Both are Swiss Made however what makes them best out of it? Tissot is more affordable than Victorinox.
*
Tissot is under the swatch group, i would expect they get more discount getting movements. 1 reason why tissot is more affordable.
other reasons may include, thats how they wanna priced themselves, cost cutting comes from getting case make in china, they may not spend much time regulating the movements they get from ETA, and maybe QC.

Golano swiss make very affordable swiss watch, however QC is a mix bag from what i read.

Looking for my first watch budget under 1.5k.

  -auto movement
  -leather strap
  -width 34-38mm
  -6-8mm thickness
  -classic look
  -without chronograph
  -with date

Any brand recommend? As my wrists
sizes small, im afraid later item bought
through online and it doesnt fit me. How
to deal with this problem and what measure
need to make?  hmm.gif
*
1st of all auto + 6-8mm is just not possible.
auto + ~10mm is possible.

U have to look at page 1. there is a list of possible brands.
so far only these 2 watches come to mind
- hamilton watch (Field mechanical size at 33mm) retail price ~rm1.1K but thickness is greater than 8mm iirc
- Stowa Antea Kleine Sekunde (35.5mm at 6.8mm thick) however its priced RM$1.8k and need to wait for 1-3mths.

bought online and don't fit! don't remove those tags, and ship back to return it. many online store have good return policy, with the exception of Stowa.
not heard of anyone returning their watches.

if u have tried watches with your specs. 24-38mm and that thick and it suit u well, chances are similar dimension watches will fit u too.

@ alfredfx, Christopher Ward wouldn't satisfy the 6-8mm thickness. ETA 2824 or SW200 are thick. watches on these movement generally at ~10mm thick. 6-8mm only mechanical. btw have CW shipped your order?
