QUOTE(Claire Farron @ Mar 26 2012, 02:15 PM) Hi there, I got a question here, i went to Quill 9 @ PJ to check the new F30 as well.. one of my family member had just placed order for the new 3 series, 320d and it's supposed to be CBU, but the sales person told us that the CBU car will be arriving around April or May. Why so long ? because before that, we went to another BMW dealer and the salesman there said there's only one colour left and we didnt really like that colour so we didnt take it, but the sales person at that dealership said that if we took that one, we will be able to get that car by end of March or early April. and I've once read at paultan, about this one person with almost same situation but with the 5 series F10 This is what the guy said: What are your guys opinion ? Do you think this sales person ( the one who said car would arrive around may or april) trying to do the same thing like that ? One sales person told me that 320d still got units left but 328i is already sold out.. so the only chance to get 328i is get the CKD ones which will be available 3months from now. So perhaps on dealer allocation? Other possible explaination of why if car is available but why need wait for 1 month++ is because whether they can get the clearance to get the car out of the port. Some tax issues involve which also need money i guess. What u think of the F30 320d? did your family member test the car? |

QUOTE(mugenz @ Mar 26 2012, 02:29 PM) i went to Quill 9 @ PJ to check the new F30 as well.. Yeah, that family member owned an e90 320i, and he said the handling and driving experience totally blew the last gen out of water. One sales person told me that 320d still got units left but 328i is already sold out.. so the only chance to get 328i is get the CKD ones which will be available 3months from now. Some tax issues involve which also need money i guess. What u think of the F30 320d? did your family member test the car? I was there too actually but i didnt drive it, just sat on the back seat and i can say the leg room is freakin huge, bigger than an audi A4 and totally bigger than last gen 3 series. And it feels a little bit more comfy than e90 when car is cruising on highway Interior design for the 320d is nice as well, can choose either black or beige or the interior, but on the downside there's no sat nav for the i Drive and no Heads Up Display. I'm still waiting for someone else here who had booked 320d, i want to know when will you be getting the car |

Well, i have to agree with the cabin space both driver and passenger is bigger compared e90, however some dont think lol..
didnt managed to test drive as Quill didnt have 320d test car. Maybe next week i will go ingress to book a test drive for both 320d and 328i sports trim. I quite like the interior trims, especially the sports red and carbon of 328i sports. Perhaps u can go BMW club Malaysia Forum and ask if anyone placed order for 320d. They have a dedicated F30 section and more bimmers there |

I just came back from Quill, my salesman there mentioned they have a silver 320d available. I found out why as well that you felt a bit more comfortable with the new F30 compared to the outgoing E90. The outgoing E90 were stocked with semi-bucket seats (mine is currently using those) as compared to the F30 which uses the normal leather seats hence when you sit on them you feel like you had more room. I just tested it out at Quill earlier. or maybe those people are too used to large cars like s class or 7 series leg room even the f30's front passenger and driver seat feels more wider than e90 thanks, will check that out Width wise I feel the car is the same as my E90, but in terms of passenger space behind, the new F30 definitely provides more leg room. |

QUOTE(phas3r @ Mar 26 2012, 01:38 AM) how do you compare 330ci with golf gti? u own a gti as well? ppl say gti is faster in acceleration but top speed wise 330 on paper is considerably higher I think he didn't compare the E46 330i against the Golf GTI but you're absolutely right that the E46 330i is far off from beating a Golf GTI. I would say, it's no where near the speed of the Golf GTI sorry forgot yours is 525i or 530i? |

My service is due! Also time to change to summer tyres. Time to bug my dealer to give me F30 for a day. I doubt he will though.

Even that is much comfortable. Width wise I feel the car is the same as my E90, but in terms of passenger space behind, the new F30 definitely provides more leg room. Perhaps also the dashboard design might contribute to the space.. |

One of our club members has both those cars (E92 335i and a Golf GTI ABT Stage 1). 335 can smoke it because of the raw power but he says the Golf GTI is more fun to drive. |

Honestly, this is always very subjective If you ask a equally skilled driver with these 2 cars racing with each other, I can tell you it's really comparable. There's no such thing as E92 335i is ALWAYS faster because gear shifts is better on the DSG but the 335i has more raw power. If it's a drag race then yes, the BMW E92 335i. |

QUOTE(clawhammer @ Mar 26 2012, 05:55 PM) Honestly, this is always very subjective Yup totally agree with you on that. In my statement, I meant faster in a straight line speed and on highways. The comparison is that the Golf picks up extremely fast but by the time it reaches around 220km/h speed then you can see the 335i slowly pulling away. My bad for not being clear as well in the earlier statement because I always equate smoke is on a straight line stretch or along the highway because in the VW club we have a "Smoked by...." thread and I tend to follow that hahahaha If you ask a equally skilled driver with these 2 cars racing with each other, I can tell you it's really comparable. There's no such thing as E92 335i is ALWAYS faster because gear shifts is better on the DSG but the 335i has more raw power. If it's a drag race then yes, the BMW E92 335i. But have driven both of these cars myself, I think I still tend to favour the Golf but thats because I have driven in a Golf a lot more hence the natural bias towards understeer especially up windy roads |

Actually I'm very amazed by how fast the DSG gearbox shifts. It's like you're doing at more than 100km/h, you slow down, change gears and it goes up again very quickly. Extremely responsive! I wish my car has a gearbox like that.
You're a lucky man with 2 great wives (Golf and E90) |

Some latest news:
BMW Recalls All 2003-2010 5-Series and 6-Series We not usually cover automotive recalls on Autoviva. There is always a recall going on, and they do not necessarily point to a car's overall quality. However, this is a big one. BMW is recalling all 2003 to 2010 5-series and 6-series cars due to the incorrect mounting of the battery cable cover in the trunk. The recall affects about 1.3 million cars worldwide. If this problem is left unfixed, it can cause electrical system malfunctions, the car not starting and the possibility of fires. Although, BMW claims that it knows of no examples of anyone being injured because of the problem. BMW will contact owners by mail soon, and they can bring the car in for free service for the recall. QUOTE(Johan-N @ Mar 28 2012, 09:23 PM) Yes .... this was in The Star yesterday:Free BMW 5 and 6 Series car inspections for glitch PETALING JAYA: Owners of BMW 5 and 6 Series built between 2003 and 2010 have been advised to send in their vehicles for inspection. This follows a report on Monday that BMW AG was recalling about 1.3 million cars for repairs worldwide due to a possible fault with the battery cable cover in the boot. BMW Group Malaysia managing director Geoffrey Briscoe said no accident or injury had been reported due to the technical fault in Malaysia or abroad. “Being proactive in this circumstance as well as for our customers’ peace of mind, we welcome our customers to visit any of our 15 authorised BMW service centres nationwide to get their vehicles inspected. “The process will not take longer than 30 minutes and at no cost to the customer,” he said yesterday. Briscoe said those who bought the 5 and 6 series models built within that period through unauthorised or “grey” importers should also have their vehicles checked immediately at an authorised BMW service centre. According to a Reuters report quoting BMW AG on Monday, the battery cable cover inside the boot of these vehicles may be incorrectly mounted in some cases. “This can result in the electrical system malfunctioning, the vehicle failing to start and, in some cases, to charring or fire,” the company said. BMW said markets affected by the recall include the United States, Germany, Britain and China. Fewer than 1% of the cars BMW has so far inspected for the issue have exhibited the problem, a BMW spokesman said. For more information, call BMW Voice at 1 800 88 3000. |

I am quite curious how this would affect the re-con cars.
