QUOTE(w3er @ May 31 2010, 01:30 PM)
but some ppl(evo) don't understand the importance of LAN, cause they always see things from the negative point of view, but not on what good stuff it can bring to us

we ask for the option of LAN, he said LAN is a joke...use tmnet cause tmnet connection is way faster and more stable than LAN.....
we ask for the option of chat channel, he said we want to spam at chat channel
we ask for the option to connect US west server, but now he is worried that we will lag, as if any of our game has any thingj to do with him...
*
Let's take a look at the current trend of multiplayer games. iCCup, Ga-rena, Ha-machi, Blue-server & other LAN-emulation applications exist for a particular reason. They emulate LAN & allow 2 or more players with a considerable distance from each other to play together. Oh wait! They also don't require you to use original game clients since they're not directly under the control of the games' respective publisher / developer.

I'm not saying LAN is useless, outdated or anything else but frankly speaking, if I were to put myself into Blizz's shoe, I'll say no to LAN as well. Let's face it, LAN party is no longer as popular as it was years ago & yes, I understand that you might still need it but again, we're talking about the majority all over the world. The broadband penetration in most countries are increasing hence the reason why LAN emulators are mushrooming here & there.

TL;DR on why LAN will (most probably) not gonna get implemented:
- it promotes piracy
- the issue of intellectual property could spiral out of control again (*cough cough* KeSPA *cough cough*)
- broadband penetration is much higher compared to the past
- from the broadband point above, players are finding it much more convenient to play online
- the UDP issue needs to be fixed first. There's no time to implement new features with 27-July looming closer
- Blizzard knows the rest of the reasons

I've been holding back from using this phrase but I think it's pretty clear if you hate the game / B.net so much: You tak suka, you keluar. I know I'm nobody here, but you guys have been harping on the same old issue like over & over & over again. You accuse us of fanboyism when we don't see your points but the same can be applied to you. We enjoy the game & you don't but trying to say that your idea is the best EVAR doesn't prove any point.

so it was a war between piracy and blizzard...
i don't know how much affect it will have on those pirate-user, but in the end, us the legitimate end user will suffer the most
*
Well, sounds like you've never heard of DRM, where YOU, the legitimate end user REALLY SUFFER! Would you prefer DRM or the current path that Blizz is taking?

See? You're always accusing those who disagree with your points as Blizz-fanboys or in cahoot with Blizz. doh.gif

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ May 31 2010, 02:44 PM)
I see the Battlenet 2.0 the same way as IWNet...
*
You see? You see? From all the efforts that you've poured into this thread trying to justify your points, I've been trying to look at SC2 from your perspective. Question is, have you ever read our points & try to look at things from OUR perspective for a change?

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ May 31 2010, 02:44 PM)
Those "private" servers are why SC1 and DotA become famous. Without them, SC1 would be forgotten long time.Taking away LAN will not fix the piracy problem. Hackers will still find ways to emulate the whole server. I heard that they somehow manage to get it work now.
*
Blizz doesn't earn anything from these 2 games getting famous. Sure, people buy more SC1 & WC3 due to the popularity but face it, most are actually using pirated game clients & the numbers of those who own a legitimate SC1 / WC3 are very small in number compared to those entire community.

You're basically trying to justify that a crime is alright as long as it provides you with certain advantages. WHAT? And what's wrong with Blizz earning from a game that they made?

Taking away LAN will not fix the piracy issue but it does plug a lot of holes that I've mentioned in my previous posts. Kill piracy? Make everything free then yes, you'll successfully kill piracy. biggrin.gif

I'm not a pro but here are a few things I noticed:

- you literally lost a game that you're supposed to win
- late expansion. You should expand early if you plan to transit into mid-game smoothly. Your natural expansion has a nice choke point, use it the same way as your starting base's choke
- you did notice that he's massing Hydra after your first push failed. Yet you still train unit that doesn't benefit you against light units
- you group all your units into 1 control group. Put them into various control groups such as anti-air units, AtG units, etc. That's the reason why your units keep dancing around & your Vikings suicide themselves
- explore the map more. Try placing a cheap unit such as a Marine in all mineral fields to alert you of expansions. You can also float redundant buildings nearby as scout
- you build only 1 unit-producing buildings each except Rax where you got 2. Build more to get units faster
- don't limit yourself to these few type of units only. Try Raven if you notice that he's going for ranged units with projectiles such as Hydra. PDD is actually very good
- expand like crazy! Build a CC if you have too much mineral & float them to all the mineral fields to get more resources
- too much mineral? Build more Supplies since it never hurt to have 200 supplies ready

Ok .. now back into topic  whistling.gif

Btw, which Terran units can counter mass hydra?
*
Hellions! If you upgrade to Infernal Pre-Lighter (aka blue flame), you'll be having BBQ Hydras for 7 days 7 nights. Om nom nom...

EDIT: The om nom nom factor will depends on how you position your Hellions. Note that all ranged land units in SC1 & SC2 always make a line when engaging each another, a very favourable formation for Hellions.

I'm surprised no one posted this up. Either you guys have watched it or have yet to do so. Time to open up your eyes to the difference between Asian & US server players; in terms of both strategy & timing. Games are casted by Day[9] & Chill hence there should be no yawn-inducing commentaries.

Altitude TL Invitational (4 players only)

Ro4 (Bo3)
WhiteRa vs oGssSKS

LiquidTLO vs IdrA

I LOL'ed at someone who expected buffs to Terran instead of nerfs. biggrin.gif

Can't be blamed, communities (especially Zerg) have been QQ'ing about Terran mech being undefeatable, though I'm not sure if this is the right way to go about it. sad.gif

Can't be blamed. The new tanks are seriously way over-powered since the AI is so much better now compared to BW. Let me try to find you the source.

EDIT: Here you are, read more in this link. If it's TL;DR, basically it's about the tank AI in SC2 where they no longer overkill units as shown below:

So, if you happen to have a good concentration of tanks lined up in siege mode with good sights, they're virtually invincible against ground units.

In b4 you tak suka, you keluar! sweat.gif

Anyway, I've to admit that TLO is a very creative player & he might have really found the solution to counter Terran mech as Zerg but until we see it, I've to stick with the fact that Terran full mech is a very viable solution to shutting down Zerg expansions & subsequently, contain them into a corner.

If that's true, that's even embarassing.
For TLO to discover the mech counter for Zerg players as random (or more Terran lately), and Artosis to learn from TLO how to play his own race? I suggest a 1v1 switch race grudge match! Fight, fight, fight, fight.......   icon_idea.gif
*
Well, you don't see a top pro-gamer discovering the MutaStack in SC1, yes? Shark was never at the top of the hill but credit goes to him for inventing this game-breaking technique. whistling.gif

*
Err... yes. Muta is Zerg unit; Shark invented the MutaStack hence Shark plays Zerg. rolleyes.gif

Point is, there are always new things to be discovered, else BW would have been dead boring by now. There is totally nothing wrong for a random player to discover new technique for other races. Heck, a random player is 1/3 Zerg players, so what's the deal with that?

I just think that its awkward that Artosis being 2/3 parts more Zergish cannot work on better options, than just sitting and blabering about the impossiblity to beat mech.
Also, the master has spoken:
"Yeah... After looking at the math I don't think this will be enough to fix zvt. Right direction tho." - Artosis  via twitter. (Yes, I do follow him for quite some time already. tongue.gif)

To be honest, I sincerely think that Artosis & IdrA might have overrated themselves by a certain degree.

Artosis
QUOTE
im simply stating the truth here. idra and i looked into it completely. i did nothing but play vs mech for 2 weeks. i spoke with every top zerg player on the subject. we tested every combo and timing. i am not whining, i know it will be patched, im simply stating the findings of the best players, something else that you should love.

2 weeks & somehow he managed to deduce that if he & IdrA couldn't come up with a reasonable counter to Terran mech, no one in the world, no matter how long they gonna spend, will be able to find anything either. This very sentence of his reeks of arrogance & over-exaggeration.

While I understand that you might be idolizing him, it's simply a TL;DR proclamation of him & IdrA as the king & queen of the Zerg. And don't get me started to quote the BM IdrA. Yes, they have way better skills than I do but c'mon, if 2 weeks is all he needs, then Einstein must be 1 damn lazy slacker. doh.gif

Got interesting / awesome / OMGWTFBBQHAXXOR replays that you would like to watch over & over again for years to come or show 'em to your grandchildren on how elite you were? Sorry, says Blue Malarh:

When the second phase of beta begins shortly before the release of the game it will include a new patch. This patch will be removing all previous version folders. Any replays created during the first phase of the beta will no longer be viewable once the next phase begins.

EDIT: On second thought, perhaps copying those folders that Cheese deleted will allow you to view past replays? hmm.gif
