I believe we will have workaround for this.. let's wait and see..
*
We? Not trying to accuse you or anything but the way you put your words sounds like you're advocating piracy.
QUOTE(yeehai @ Jun 22 2010, 11:29 AM)
Yeah, for those has patience can wait may save few bucks(maybe more).. who know we can get USD100 for Trilogy/BattleChest after 2 years instead you pay every USD60 for each.. Since many foundation works has been done in each three units and Blizzard might be able to release one expansion each year or maybe less..(well, Blizzard will never enclosed the real release date, just anticipation or guessing only)

I am the one who start this and just want to see how starcraft fans perceive on this. All opinions is welcome but no flaming, this what make forum/blog so interesting. Thanks for all the feedback
*
I think it's inappropriate to preemptively place a price tag of $60 on the other 2 expansions at this point in time. Based on the experience obtained during beta, I really feel that the price justifies the amount of time you're gonna spend on this game in the near future once released.

QUOTE(yeehai @ Jun 22 2010, 04:10 PM)
Well.. get the Russian version.. I believe they do sell it without Battle Net version and it is cheaper, please read the below comment. Can this consider legitimate workaround?  tongue.gif

Any forummer could manage to bring this item? just USD17.16, sell it at USD25(RM80++) still can make some profit if able to bulk purchase.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/...-Only-In-Russia

"Essentially, StarCraft II will be sold in Russia in two versions: A standard DVD case for 999 rubles ($34.36, £22.38 or €25.41 - approximately half the price of the regular European version) or a jewel-case version for 499 rubles ($17.16, £11.13 or €12.63). Players who shell out 999 rubles will have a year of access to the Battle.net multiplayer - but only on Russian servers, not with the whole of Europe - while those who buy the cheaper version will get four months of access to the same.

After the time has run out, the players will have to pay 100 rubles ($3.44, £2.23, €2.53) a month for continued access to Battle.net. However, Russian StarCraft II buyers will, at any time, be able to "upgrade" to the complete version of the game that will be sold elsewhere in Europe for "about 30 Euros," giving them full, unlimited access to Battle.net there on out."
*
Yea, you're right. We did discuss about the Russian package & due to a lot of OMGWTFBBQDONOTWANT, I was under the impression that everyone hates that business plan.

Anyway, from what you've described, it seems like you're purely aiming for the single game so that's understandable... though I find it weird since gamers are leaning towards multiplayer games these days. BW would have been extinct years ago if it wasn't for the replayability as offered by multiplayer games.

Not necessary though, depends on people's preferences. I have been playing lotsa single player games. Jump in and out quickly, usually around 30-45mins tops.

Also, Blizzard games have good story and good single player experience.
*
Good story & good single player experience will only cause you anticipate the expansion more since you need the story continuation & more campaigns. biggrin.gif

I do agree what you said there but still, BW survives due to multiplayer, not the campaigns.

QUOTE(yeehai @ Jun 22 2010, 06:55 PM)
The answer is Yes and No. My plan is I would rather stay in the single player for a while until the release for 2 expansion then only buy on Full package. .who know other can sell the price much cheaper like in the garage sale or ebay or other online store.. Well, that is just my plan.. As we know, like hardware, early adapter always has to pay the premium.. Anyway, I didn't realized there is a thread before talking about this Russian package then I don't have to mention again here.. Just explain more on workaround stuff to avoid thinking for "piracy" which is quite sensitive...... Anyway.. Blizzard create great games.. Until today I still enjoy the single player campaign in Warcraft III more than I play DOTA.. It is all personal preference.. I am glad that all the feedback in short period.
*
Err... yes, you can wait for the price to go down but seriously you're gonna miss out on a lot of stuffs for the coming few years. Add in inflation plus the world economy limbo & who knows, your wait might not worth it or the other way around. It's a risk & I see that you're willing to take it so cheers.

*
Ehh, I thought you're concentrating on DotP now? biggrin.gif

Beta phase 2 will be up again in a few weeks so we'll have to see if Blizz is able to implement & integrate the whole cross-platform thingy.

Necro'ing an old post by fuj about the unit pathfinding as I found a pretty good article on the pros & cons of SC2 pathfinding as compared to BW. Not gonna post the whole article here due to the amount of images so please click on the link below for virus.

Weird. Apparently Korea will also have 2 different SC2 packages available, 30 days for 9900 won & Unlimited for 69000 won. Blizz has never mentioned about implementing these packages for Korea, so perhaps we might see the same thing for SEA as well.

* They revealed the plane with the huge SC II logo on the side. There are two planes with the SC II branding, one international and one for national flights. They'll operate that way for six months.

* Chris Siggarty announced the final closed beta is going to be for around 2 weeks starting in early July.

* There will be an open beta starting in Korea and Taiwan on July 27th, alongside the official launching.

* There will be some advertising with Lotteria as well (Korean fast food chain)

* Multiple pricing plans besides the 69,000 won ($60~70) unlimited play one. There's a 2,000 won one day pass, 9,900 won 30 day pass.

* World of Warcraft subscribers get SC II for free during 7, 30, and 90 day subscriptions (Korea). In essence, you're paying for a combined B.net account.

* Blizz donated 600,000,000 won in scholarships for IT/Gaming majors, and for ex-progamers.

* Garimto vs Grubby special exhibition match. Garimto won 2-0 (Garimto actually played the beta actively).

So now the progamers are going to practice in BNet 2.0 and then play on LAN?  laugh.gif

The LAN version will be supervised by Blizz employees, which means that any major tournaments that wanna go through LAN will have to involve Blizz.

Mono blue deck relies on planning & patience. It gives the most satisfaction when you managed to outmaneuver your opponents when you're almost snuffed out.

Here's something to get us back on track:

i like the natural expansion placement for the 2player map...

I think it's too narrow though, like it's meant for resource gathering purpose only & all unit-producing buildings have to be pushed inside main base parameter.

Something similar to scrap station. But if the gold expansion is on high ground then this map highly favorable to terran.
*
I guess you meant the 2-players map. The map author actually planned to have the "bridge" block air units from flying over so while it may look like Scrap Station, in gameplay it's totally different.

Of course it's different, common sense can tell. A slight variation in map will cause thousands of different play style.

But what I meant was it has scrap station's theme and not much creativity has put into it.
*
Well, in a way, the author is trying to simulate base clashes on a giant Battlecruiser, so there's no other better background / theme than having all these pew-pew-pews happen in space.

Download? Do you mean Jack Sparrow version?

SC? Do you mean Brood War or are you talking about SC2?

Not sure if this helps but you can purchase SC2 that is tied to the US region by pre-ordering a copy from Amazon.com.

Sekian, terima kasih.

I don't think so. We're all accepted into beta & I don't think Blizz is still sending beta invites now. Anyway, the release date is pretty near so I don't think it's gonna make much difference if you start now or wait for the release.

See you in SC2! wink.gif

Nope. It's not like we don't want, but we don't have the ability to.

Beta is down now anyway, so not much we can do even if we have invites to spare. biggrin.gif

Well, there are hardware that need to be upgraded & all sorts of minor tinkering + testing here & there. You have to take into account that the servers need to withstand major influx of players as compared to the puny number of beta testers it used to handle prior to the release.

Crackers / Hackers will always find a way, first it makes them look good, second, doing so is also good money.

However, I have been buying original games for a long time from digital distribution services (such as Steam, GOG, Impulse) and retail (either from shops or Gamer's Garage Sales.

And all Blizzard games I owned are original. Ranging from Starcraft 1, Warcraft 3 and expansions as well as Diablo 2 and its expansion respectively.

As such, Starcraft 2 won't be any different.
